Extended / Reworked British Ground Forces Tech Tree

Hey guys. It’s clear that Gaijin is wanting to turn the UK tree into a pseudo-Commonwealth tree (minus vehicles like the Canadian Leopards and Australian Abrams), which I personally like the idea of, but has some backlash in the community.

So, I thought I’d create a concept for what the British TT could look like, with the addition of new domestic UK, Indian, Jordanian, and South African vehicles, along with a few changes to the existing tree structure.

It’s by no means perfect, but I think it’s a good starting point, and it gives us a single place to discuss the future expansion of the British tree! Suggestions / criticisms welcome :)

I’m not quite sure why the Ajax is in the last line, when it fits better following on from the IFVs in Line 3 (I guess the logic is IFVs with ATGMs + ATGM carriers in Line 3, and gun or autocannon-only light tanks in Line 5, but that creates a slight problem with the addition of Ajax variants with ATGMs)
  • Stormer HVM: Moved from folder with Strela-10M to folder with Stormer AD
  • Osa-AK: Moved from folder with Stormer HVM to folder with Strela-10M.
  • Challenger 2E: Line 1 → Line 2. Fits better with other export MBTs IMO
  • Challenger 3 TD → Challenger 2 ATD (renamed)

I knew I was forgetting something! Although, unless it’s a premium, there’s no room for it in the IFV line (especially since it’d likely be around 11.0 max, so can’t be foldered with either the Ajax (10.3) or Ajax IFV (11.3))

I mean, the complaints are justified, Indian dsosn’t have anything it fill the needed gaps, like 12.X that isn’t a Russian C&P they may or may not have. On top of that dosn’t not fit(after all, 90% of their gap fillers is Russian C&P) and even hates the UK, compared to Canada & Australia, which have a very vocal population asking for a home and out of the current trees, the UK is the best.

A. Jonden came out of nowhere; it’s not a sub-tree and has not been said to be a sub-tree. That fact of the matter, is their additions are as likely to be TT as Canadian and Australian stuff. And Gaijin has shown that stuff from Canada and Australia has a high chance of being added.

B. Gaijin has not denied the additions of Leos and Abrams from Canada and Australia, and even made it sound like likely additions down the line. The only statement about them as of late is not wanting to take them away from current owners, aka stuff like moved premiums and events for new trees, where current owners get to keep them.

C. Arjun Mk A… 12.3? really? The thing is barely 11.0 worthy. Unlike what is thought to be believed, it’s not good, it be worse than DOA there.

D. The Ajax was in line 5 because, after the rework, it’s now the light tank line. As if you’ve noticed, they moved everything that wasn’t a light out of it and moved most light tanks into it.

Unlike the Canadian and Australian kit the Jordanian stuff is actually British origin and represents the peak of the Challenger 1 lineage. Much like the Kuwaiti Desert Warrior (which also isn’t a sub-tree), the Jordanian modified Challengers have a well deserved place in the tech tree imo.

Four Indian ground vehicles are already in the British tree, and more are confirmed to be coming.

That’s also why I left out vehicles like their upgraded BMP-2s. Those could go to the Russian TT.

Don’t think it matters if they’re an official sub-tree or not. We have the Khalid, because it’s British in origin. Same goes for the Al-Hussein (and the Falcon turret was developed jointly with South Africa). Other Jordanian vehicles could go to the US (upgraded M60s) or France (Leclerc).

That still limits the options. I can’t see the Leopard AS1 coming to the British tree. And what else is there, the Canadian upgraded Leopard 2A6? No way that’s coming for the UK either. If we do get more, it’s very likely to be lower tier vehicles, like with the Ram and A.C. series.

Might rethink that.

Then what about the Warrior and Desert Warrior? It’s a little weird to have IFVs split between two separate lines.

All sub-tree vehicles go to the nation the sub-tree is home in, those BMP-2s are coming to the UK whether you like it or not, after all, India was added for its Russian C&P. Even if a sub-tree has enough unique vehicles to be a new TT, there will be as many C&Ps are possable. India is no different.

So a split nation, guess what, those tanks will be premium and event then, not TT. At most your allowed one as researchable.

You know, people like US and German mains said the same about their Hornets, let’s see now the UK has them. As much as Gaijin doesn’t listen to the community, they also equaly as much listen to it. Guess why there are a lot of threads asking for that stuff to join the UK.

The additions of post-Cent MBTs are as likely as the UK getting F/A-18s from those nations. But they may not be tech-tree and equally as likely to be premium and event, even in the UK.

Because Gaijin isn’t fully consistent in line placement, there are always oddities; most lines have a general theme. The “IFV line” is the TD line in reality, so further additions to that line would be other missile carriers and howitzers.

The Kuwaiti Desert Warrior is in the tech tree because it is one of the more capable and significant variants of the Warrior, despite being from a nation that is not a full sub tree. There is zero reason the Jordanian Challengers couldn’t also be the same.

Ariete in game is still better armoured than an arjun.

Theres a literal armour hole in front of the hull ammo stowage and no composite (or very little) behind the gunner sight

Ajax is a CVR(T), the replacement to the Scimitar. its why its line 5.

Line 3 is TDs and the Warrior was more designed for combat more than recon

Im guessing the Ajax IFV and/or Blackjax would probably end up in line 3 rather than line 5 as a result

There was literally no reason to add Australian hornet to US as US already has the exact same planes in its tech tree. As i have said it multiple times that Australia and Canada should be a combined tree. Would it be copy paste? Yes it would be but does gaijin really care about uniqueness?. As long as Britian does not get Leo or Abram i am in support of combined TT of Australia and Canada. Might as well throw few more common wealth nation is this tree

The US mains wanted them to be SQV and premiums for them or not come at all. Heck, when the Canadian moment of volur added a Canadian skin to the F/A-18C (early), people thought that had stopped the CF-188 from coming period. It doesn’t matter whether or not they need it; they just need to spite the British and then blame them for claiming the world.

Well, Gaijin doesn’t care about uniqueness; it can easily be mostly unique or at least vehicles built by those nations, even if it’s just licensed-built stuff. With pure C&Ps being limited to non-existent, depending on the rank.

This is where I disagree, any short term addtions of them should be in the UK tree mostly do to the fact that both nations have everything else for them in the UK and would allow them to build a line-up.
