BeNeLux Air Forces

Belgium - Netherlands - Luxembourg

image image image

Hello everyone! Welcome to the official BeNeLux Air Forces Techtree suggestion. This BeNeLux Techtree has been made by the Fan-made BeNeLux Techtree Discord server: https://discord.gg/PEW9bFp

Foreword:

What is the BeNeLux?

BeNeLux stands for Belgium - Netherlands - Luxembourg. It is an official politico-economic union and formal international intergovernmental cooperation of three neighboring states in western Europe.

Why combine the countries into one techtree?

From a historical point of view, Belgium and the Netherlands already have military cooperations. For example, there is a BeNeLux Navy Command, both countries purchased each others military products in the past, and with the Air Force, both the Netherlands and Belgian squadrons take turns protecting the BeNeLux Air Space.

From an ingame point of view the Netherlands and Belgium are two countries that both have lots of very interesting vehicles, but are also both a little lacking in some regards when we look at them from an ingame point of view. To give some examples:

Netherlands: Unique Air Force, Little lacking in Army, Very unique Navy.
Belgium: Unique Air Force, lots of unique Army vehicles, lacking in their Navy.

You can quite easily see why a union of the two countries makes sense. Together both countries add to eachother, Belgium adds to the lacking Dutch army, and the Dutch add to the lacking Belgian Navy.

How about Luxembourg?

Well it is true that Luxembourg does not add anything of value to the BeNeLux techtrees (From an ingame point of view Luxembourg only has a TOW armed Humvee and an armed Police helicopter).
But then again they also wouldn’t make sense in a German or French techtree either. In reality Luxembourg does not have a place in War Thunder. But since the BeNeLux is an official union we decided to include Luxembourg just for the sake of giving them a place ingame.
Their Air Force and Army decals can be added alongside Belgian and Dutch onces.

A quick introduction:

Looking ingame right now, we have a very rare opportunity. Aside from a few modified Dutch designs such as the German Kanonenboot K2 (Which is a modified Dutch K-class gunboat), and the Finnish Fokker D.21 (Which has been modified by the Finish by adding 20mm guns under the wings) we actually don’t have a single true Belgian, Dutch or Luxembourg vehicle ingame.

So unlike the latest added nation, Israel (We already had Merkava’s in the US techtree and a Shot in the British techtree), the BeNeLux would add all completely new and unique vehicles to the game.

This suggestion is for the Air Forces Techtree. It brings tons of very unique new aircraft for the lower ranks, while fading a bit in uniqueness in the higher ranks. But I should point out that because of the German invasion of the Netherlands and Belgium the production of indigenous aircraft designs was completely halted from 1940 till 1945. And even after the war this production of indigenous aircraft would never reach the same height again.

So with that out of the way, let’s dive in!

A new complete tech tree with unique vehicles! +1

I’m actually amazed at how comprehensive this tree is. I didn’t read anything about BeNeSam ( Admiral Benelux (ABNL )), then again, that doesn’t really matter for the air forces. (Edit: nvm, it is mentioned !) XD (And Belgium and the Netherlands frequently work together anyway.

Now if only we could get the current roundels for Belgium/The Netherlands in game, a man can dream.

Well done!

I didn’t really like this idea but why not?

here’s a few more Foxes because why not
the Fox IIIC would be a nice reserve in case the Épervier is too weak, 2 guns and 350 km/h for the late version:

the Fox VIII with a 3-bladed prop, ~375-400 km/h and 4 guns:

Theres also the option for a RAAF skin or premium, as several Dutch Do 24 were given to the RAAF after the Japanese invaded the Dutch East Indies

sure, i think we could actually have a few different versions of the Do-24 but if i’m honest i don’t know that much about them haha

I agree with adding more underrepresented nations like these in the form of a joint tree, it would only fix some BRs, for example the Mirage 5BA from Belgium would be fine in BR 10.0 not in 10.3 since it is very similar to the Mirage 5J from France As for the Mirage 5BA Mirsip, it would be fine at 10.3, despite having a Thomson-CSF TMV630 laser rangefinder, I am not sure that in its service in Belgium they have equipped these bombs to use them since they were later sold to Chile under the name of Mirage M-5MA Elkan and in that country Griffin LGB bombs were used in addition to AIM-9P Sidewinder. If you want to know the different improvements of the Mirsip Program in Belgium, I have a suggestion with that information, it could be useful to you. Otherwise, very good tree, +1.

I’m fine with a Do-24 premium in the UK and/or future Australian/Austro-Canadian TT, however the Do-24 Should be a TT vehicle in the Dutch TT since they are one of the most prolific users of the model with several variants that can be added like the Do-24K, Do-24T-1 & even some of the prototypes.

France and Germany should obviously get the Do-24 as well (maybe Sweden too)

i personally don’t know what bombs they used, i do know the Belgian Mirages used AIM-9Js and had countermeasures though, but bombs idk :(

Why don’t you use the illustrations you used in old forums???

i wasn’t there around the time they made the old suggestion, but i believe it is far more time-consuming

Personally I think Belgian and Dutch vehicles should be split between Germany and France, wherever they would be most appropriate. There is simply not enough unique vehicles to form an interesting tech tree.

What @mr_boo already said. They are very time consuming to make.

When I made my first techtree illustrations, I was still in highschool and I had loads of free time. Now that is no longer the case so I had to make the progress of making the techtrees easier for myself.

oh, I didn’t see this before +1.
