You can always shoot an ER further than the enemy, and plus you can stealth guide so they don’t know besides a split second launch warning. If you lose track of a target, just switch.
This is an older clip but you can see that I’ve managed to kill an enemy and have plenty of time to defend because I launched my ER at an extreme range and I managed my closure.
I haven’t tried this tech against the F-15E’s though and I doubt it’ll work very well.
None of that is relevant. You’re always going to be at disadvantage in a BVR fight when using Fox1s. The requirement that the host plane needs to lock the target is always going to make you vulnerable. Sometimes amidst the chaos the enemy will fail to capitalize upon your vulnerability but you were still vulnerable.
Not if you launch at an extreme range. That’s the one advantage of the ER (if you manually loft).

In an equal shorter range joust no doubt I would’ve lost with the ER.
