Russia gets the Su-34 (introduced in 2014) with Grom missile (Cruise missiles all but in name that were introduced in 2015) which is current-day ordnance while the US and European countries are still getting Aircraft and ordnance from the 80s or 90s if we’re lucky.
Where’s the F-18 (introduced in 1983)
Where’s the Eurofighter (introduced in 2003)
Where are the Anti-Radiation-Missiles (in use since 1963)
Feel free to add more.
The Su-34 will be able to take off in EC, fire off its Grom missiles from 100km distance to a base, land and rearm, and rinse and repeat. How tf is that fair? 1 Player could take out all bases by himself pretty quickly without having to risk anything.
Or go the route of maximizing profit:
Send missiles at 2 bases
Land and wait for UA
Rinse and repeat
What is Gaijin thinking? Is there any counter to that? Can we shoot down the missiles?
Goes to show just how far behind Russia is in military tech
Yes. You should be able to take them out in flight. But i think it will be difficult to do it. They should add an award for intercepting air to ground munitions.
I have a feeling that they thought of the balance in terms of ground rb and air vs air.
Just shows that we really need a rework of ground targets again. Allowing the af to be bombed again would be an okay fix until a rework is made
About the vehicle historical aspects is not much different from other NATO aircraft, using the Mitsubishi F-15J as example, the first flight was in June 1980, was Introduced in December of the same year accordingly to its Wikipedia article,
Su-34 had its first flight in April 1990 and later Introduced in 2014 as you mentioned. The vehicle is not much different from counterparts not counting on the weapons it carrier.
Grom-E1 Kh36, not the same weapon as in-game if I’m not wrong, has been unveiled in 2018, and considering the time between development and actual introduction in some of the latest Russian weapons, you can count on something like late '90s.
But, doesn’t the new F-15 get similar weapon? Capable of being fired at long distances with similar performance?
Gaijin’s development team and balance team always give me a feeling that they are doing their own thing. It seems that the development team does not pay much attention to balance when deciding to introduce something new into the game. It seems that they are only inferring based on experience. They do not seem to be very clear about the current game environment, such as the average win rate and kill to death ratio of various countries. The balance team, which has access to this information, seems to be indifferent when the development team decides to introduce something new into the game.
For example, when they claimed that sulfur stones would break the game balance, they introduced the Su-34, which has excellent flight performance and advanced radar, and 6 KH38 missiles. If the Su25SM3 could be restrained by fighter jets due to its flight performance, then the Su-34 now has fighter level maneuverability and even a fairly excellent radar system. Once again, the gaijin developers ignored these, and undoubtedly, this will provoke greater opposition and Russian bias among the player community.
Su-34 can spam cruise missiles at bases. F-15E can carry 26 pieces of air to ground ordnance and AMRAAMs.
Any ground battle that spawns can be immediately destroyed by a single F-15E. The max amount of fire and forget ground attack ordnance that the Su-34 can carry is 6 ATGMs and some dumb bombs.
Or at the very least, where are our comprable weapons. Like where is Storm Shadow for the Tornado Gr4.
Its one thing that they wont introduce FnF Brimstones to match the performance of something like the KH-38. Its another when they dont even add comprable GPS guided cruise missiles
This is what happens because of youtube videos… people go off about something with limited information.
Yes they can take out a base from long distance, but they fly incredibly slow so the chances of you hitting a base this way is very small, and i doubt people will use this that often, aside from the first few weeks of the plane release.
I think an important and long overdue change would be that bases should not be area targets with Hit Points, but an actual collection of destructible buildings/vehicles etc.
The difference is that with the Grom, the Su34 will just be able to take off, shoot them at enemy airfields and come back to land, it’s literally the infinite money glitch, no risk-taking, no skill required.
The “old” GPS-guided weapons required at least gaining altitude and reaching at least half of the map to be able to reach their targets, now, with a 120km range, there will no longer even be a need to move away from the airfield.
That’s a good line of thought. Everything else in the game is based on module damage, don’t see why bases also can’t be. The health bar seems a bit WoT…. I guess you’d have to balance the damage you do to each individual item to the reward payout - it would suck (for everyone else) if say you destroyed the last vehicle at said base then got the full base destroyed reward as it currently is. (I may not be correct I only have limited air sim experience in low tiers)
Have you noticed that the entire “advanced damage system” in War Thunder is based on individual parts Hit Points? Wouldn’t change much, but if it does increase the rewards of destruction of a entire base, I support.
But considering the constant fight in the sky, either you give attention to the guy that represent a threat to you or destroy all the base if possible.
