Simulator Battles Bugs and suggestions HUB - a possible way of gathering support to address SB problems

As most of you know, here in Simulator Battles, bugs and suggestions tend to have big delays not only due to the smaller community, but also because they are usually scattered through the many threads of the Game Discussion and Suggestion sections of the forum(where only few of them are read by other sim players)

Kind of following the idea Morvran used some months ago in creating a general support HUB, I thought it would (maybe) be a good Idea to gather the problems that are discussed here and properly create the necessary bug report/suggestions, and post the link of these here with a brief description in order to try get proper(easier) support from the Sim community.

In this HUB, the idea is that we will create, or share already made suggestions and bug reports(of course, in case they already exist) through links, so we might be able to properly see, support(or not) and avoid creating duplicates and bloating the suggestions(also easing the work of bug managers). On top of that, it would fix the issue of same posts created over and over again on the game discussion. The way it currently is, this section tend to have lots of (some times repetitive)complaints of bugs and suggestions, and very few of them end up reaching the moderators and managers(and the few that end up getting seen, don’t get much visibility from other sim players at all, also in part of how the filter used in the search tool doesn’t always point to suggestions directly related to SB).

So, the procedure I had in my mind for the answers of this post would be the following:

1 - Declaration of what’s the problem(be it a bug or an issue solvable by making a suggestion), with specific modes (Air sim/GSB low tier, etc.) affected

2-brief description of the problem, why it’s a problem, etc.

3- main links for support, leading to created bug/suggestion(remember to check for already created ones), or to an older one that you judge as relevant and addresses your issue (for changes, polls are suggested)

4- secondary links, leading to discussions you think are relevant(succinct way of supporting your point and sharing some context)

In case you liked some idea, bug, suggestion, I ask you to:

First, go to the link, and say that you have the same issue, you liked the suggestion, etc.

Second, in this post just leave a like to what you are supporting, avoid comments like +1, or others like that(remember that this is supposed to be a tool for gathering support for sim); and of course, in case you don’t support some idea, go to the suggestion poll or bug report and express your ideas there.

Also, when creating a post, leave the fine details, sources to back you up, etc. to the suggestion, bug report and maybe the secondary link, because this post is supposed to be a network of Sim players with the simple objective of better visibility and support to improve the currently precarious state of Simulator Battles, not the suggestion or bug report tab themselves.

  • Problem: Inconsistent damage from some German cannons[Air SB] [Bug]

  • Description of issue: It’s already common knowledge that the cannons used by ww2 german planes are currently outclassed, not only by the fact that the ballistics are known to be among the worst, but also due to the inconsistent and lower(currently the lowest among the 20mm range) HE damage compared to cannons used in other planes. Combine all of this with the fact that the only really maneuverable planes are the 109s and ta152H, and in Air SB you also end up seeing uptiered planes, like the Dora, a 5.7 mediocre(compared to others from this br) plane that can only shoot at still or very big/slow moving targets.

This might have not been the best example, as some of the bug reports are 2 years old, some had the conversation locked, this issue affects other modes(even though not as much as in sim), etc. But I think that with this example I managed to show you how this can work

Of course, remember that this is not the suggestions or bug report tab, I don’t want to get flagged due to someone posting an entire suggestion with explicit source here

And as a final word, I have no idea if this idea is going to work, but know that I’m doing it because I like this game, I like this mode, and I (tend to)like the players (cmon, in Low tier ground sim everyone knows each other). I believe there’s currently no comparable combined vehicle combat experience like the one we have in WT Sim; so, let’s try to make it better, I might be trying to do it in a weird way, but I’m still trying to do my part. If you see a post of someone complaining about something, ask them to make a proper suggestion or bug report in the correct sections, and try to link it here so other people might have an easier time seeing it.

Any talk about a specific comment should mainly be done privately(private messages), or in the specific links provided(again, focus on cleanliness/readability).

F-47N Fm mistype of a value that makes it stall like no other plane in sim was not fixed together with the P-47N model in the last update; it thus ended up behaving like a totally different plane from the P-47N(even though they are aerodynamically almost the same) [Bug]

Interesting suggestion for Air SB made by @Dasher220 5 months ago regarding forced landing behind friendly lines to get a reduction in your next spawn cost: Air Simulator Battles - Enduring Confrontation Front Line making the front line aspects with it’s objectives(Air superiority, grond battles, etc.) more relevant

Seeing the problems with the Air SB rewards system in one of the big threads here discussing about this issue, @RunaDacino made some suggestions for improvements.

First, by spawn cost reduction of outclassed(“trainer” / lower br) planes of a given br bracket; and by the creation of a system to store silver lions that would be lost if a player made more points than the maximum rewarded by useful actions, using the “excess” Sl for paying for spawns of the next planes.
With these changes, there would be more incentives for the growth this mode, both by making it more forgiving to players, while also making it more engaging.

Addition of voice-chat in Simulator battles[suggestion]

@Sternlos made an awesome suggestion [poll] quite a while ago about the possibility of adding a voice-chat system(together with many other details); it got a pretty good amount of support also from Rb players

Here is my recent bug report for SAS damping bug in SIM specifically rudder/yaw drift, I’d appreciate if you guys could report it as well (doesn’t affect all aircraft but some are quite bad like the jas39)

I have encountered a bug when using SAS damping in SIM. After giving my aircraft rudder input and then releasing it does not return to straight and center flight, but will continue to drift along the yaw axis of the initial rudder input.

What I expect to happen:
When using SAS damping after inputting left rudder I expect the aircraft to yaw to the left. When I release the left rudder I expect the aircraft to stop yawing to the left and continue in a straight path along its new heading. Same for the right rudder.

What actually happens:
When using SAS damping and I input left rudder, my aircraft will yaw to the left. However, when I release the left rudder my aircraft will NOT continue in a straight line along its new heading, but will continue to slowly drift along the yaw axis in the direction of the initial rudder input (in this example left). If I then input right rudder to correct for this and release the pedal, I will continue to slowly drift right along the yaw axis.

This does NOT occur using manual mode

I have calibrated my VKB rudder pedals to ensure there is no drift coming from them. This also occurs just using the keyboard for rudder inputs.

My testing was done on the Jas39a, which is where I noticed it the worst; however, I have noticed this in multiple aircraft. It has also been noted to occur in the Mirage 4000, Mirage 2000c, Mirage 2000D-RMV, J7e etc. I will say there are some aircraft where this does not appear to happen. Again I feel the Jas39a is the worst. I will link to a reddit post of other players noticing the same behavior here:

Theres a bug report thats been submitted and accepted discussing the fact that it is impossible to hide your in-game name both in simulator matches as well as pre-game lobbies.

Its been accepted and passed to devs for 8 months now, but yet to be actionned, it also seems very few people know of it.

I conducted a test flight of the improved P-47N.
The strange stall characteristics that had plagued me for years have certainly been resolved, but I also think the current flight model is incorrect.
This time there was no stall at all, and it felt like I was piloting a huge Zero fighter.

Indeed, not only it’s turning well now, but the stall values seem to be a little amiss, it seems way harder to to stall compared to a p47D

The suggestion in the bug report was to try a similar value to the p47D, so you can create another bug report about it overperforming and link it here

And, I ask you and everyone seeing this to please leave only suggestions and bug reports here; any specifics like these should be in the suggestion or report themselves

This lead to a few months of a certain notorious player following me from room to room nearly every time I played… always on the opposite side… if I joined his team he would switch to his other account to try to kill me.

Yeah, I myself have had that experience, as have others now. Its kind of incredible gaijin hasnt banned these players

Who are these players if you don’t mind me asking? Just so I can stay as far as possible from these in SIM

My point all those months ago was that there is a not insignificant portion of experienced sim players who only enjoyment from the game mode comes from punching down against players with basically no experience.

Your experience isn’t an uncommon one by the way. I’ve also “harassed” pretty much every experienced prop or jet player at one point or another. I don’t just like farming noobs…but hey…if that’s what y’all want the game mode to be…just guys with VR headsets and full sim setups grinding KD in pay-to-win crap like Ariete…then I can join on your side as well.

I’ve done this before. Guess what happens? All of the noobs quit and the only people left have experience. And then the experienced players won’t play against other experienced players so the game dies.

Statshark says I’ve played 3400 sim games this year… and 15 in the Ariete… for 63 kills. Makes battle pass tasks a fun exercise… and this justifies following people around rooms… how?

I am not talking specifically about you. The same applies to all of the other guys who only play the best plane of the day and try to only use it against noobs. Your behavior in-game and reaction to seeing other players on the enemy team is not unique. There are probably a dozen and a half other people who also leave the game when I join the other team.

And yes…KD padding happens more often than you think. These are stats from yet another player who has me blacklisted.

It’s also a major issue that players can use the spectate feature to find and watch the positions of friendly players. If you have 2 accounts (or a squad of giggling fangirls) you can easily use this to grief people. Even if privacy features were enabled in sim it’s still quite easy to identify players from their Squadron and stats… it looks like at least another “dozen and a half other people” (!) would like to be able to play the game in peace.
