Southeast Asian (ASEAN) Machinery Of War Discussion Thread

I heard news Malaysia is interested in KF-21 or SU-57E the most

I don’t know anything about ASEAN weaponry but is there a picture of the Indonesian MiG-19 equipped with that rocket pod that is implied it can use in the image below?(I’m not sure if it is a B-8M1)

I’m not so much of a top tier person so a MiG-19S with 40 rockets sounds very interesting

Suggestion mods working overttime right now lol my suggestion got accepted so quickly:

It’s UB-16-57 rocket pod, containing 16 S-5 unguided rockets in each pod. AFAIK I haven’t seen a photo of Indonesian MiG-19 with it, although to be fair there’s not many photos of MiG-19s in service, as the Indonesians disliked them (to say the least)

Also forgot to post here but the recent Balikatan 2026 made history as Japan’s most largescale participation in any of the Southeast Asian hosted military exercises. Photo dump inbound!

“yesterday” there is talking about the J-10B & Su-35 that we’re buying

Lol so Malaysia AND Indonesia seem interested in the Felon

It’s a good plane and it has been exported

Because we didn’t have that much of options. F-35 definitely no, J-20 also having geopolitical security threat, at the end there only the Felon that still on the table for choosing

J20 is not exported, the j-35 is.
And there is the kaan and the kf21 who is on list with the felon

Although they are both still is trail phase, so su57 is the only deal, plus russian tend to be open for customization like the customer want. Even sometime offer side deal like su35

Kaan is still under development, it will be a good option if the Turks can get it done before the evaluation process begin

its planned to be delivered for the Turks and Indonesia starting in 2032 (so about 6 years)

IDK, but I don’t think is enough time for the avionics and weaponary system, especially when the geopolitics situations of Turkiye right now is quite worrying

IIRC the only major concerns is in regards to the engines, so who knows

found out Malaysia tested the Rosomak, does anyone have images of the thing during trials? I Cant seem to find any

curiously they use the Pindad SM2 instead the M240.

I don’t think that Albatross is gonna release like that and I expect it to either loose CCIP or be sent to a higher BR, imagine a Tiger being destroyed by rockets supported by a highly precise ballistic computer

Indonesia:
