AMX-10 PAC-90 (TS-90)

Note: while this suggestion is about the Indonesian version, technically the Singapore version is pretty much identical, so things that are said here can mostly be said for that variant as well.
The AMX-10P is a French-designed family of tracked AFVs originally produced from 1972-1994. in 1981 Indonesia obtained ~34 units for its Marine Corps, these includes three different variant, the AMX-10PAC90 with 90mm, and the AMX-10P with the 20mm cannon or alternatively with the 12.7mm MG. They were primarily brought in to replace the Marines’ Soviet-era amphibious vehicles.
The AMX-10 PAC 90 is based on the AMX-10P IFV with a change of armament and role for Fire support. The vehicle uses the TS-90 turret found on the ERC-90 & the Mars 15 in-game. The Super 90 gun can fire HEAT, HE, & APFSDS rounds. The AMX-10 series of vehicle unfortunately wasn’t favoured by the Marine Corps due to a number of issues, resulting in them having a limited service history. Nowadays the FSV is still being used, albeit confined to more of a reserve role and nowadays never participate in amphibious operations/exercises.
Considering its kit, this vehicle is quite similar to the Mars 15. Additionally since only Indonesia & Singapore operate this variant It can be a decent & unique Rank VI Light Tank option for the Japanese tree with a BR of ~8.3.
A. Background
Details
The AMX-10P is a family of tracked APC originally developed for the French Army from 1965 and has since been exported to many different nations. Production started in 1972 and continued untill 1994. During that time around 1,750 units had been produced, with a majority of the produced model being the standard AMX-10P IFV with the 20mm cannon in a two-man turret.
AMX-10P IFV
In the early 80s, the Indonesian Marines wanted to replace its aging fleet of PT-76Bs & BTR-50s obtained during the 60s. As such, in 1981 Indonesia ordered around 34 units of the AMX-10Ps with differing roles, namely the PAC 90 with the 90mm, the IFV with the 20mm and the APC with a 12.7mm. with all types of vehicles fully delivered in 1982-83.
Newly-arrived AMX-10 PAC-90
The AMX-10 PAC-90 is a amphibious fire-support derivative of the AMX-10P IFV, with some changes to the hull & internal arrangements. The vehicle is primarily marketed for export, with Indonesia & Singapore being the only operators of the vehicle type. Equipped with the TS-90 turret, the vehicle is armed with a high-velocity 90mm Super 90 (CN 90 F4), with it capable of firing HEAT, HE & APFSDS.
The turret is of an all-steel welded construction and it’s equipped with a mechanical aiming device for elevation and traverse (as well as an electrical assistance). The vehicle has both a day & and night vision sight, as well as a 120 W PH-9A searchlight. Another swivellable 80 W searchlight can also be used by the Tank Commander. The vehicle has 30 rounds in total, with 20 rounds in the turret. It can also include the option of a TVC 107 laser rangefinder, a Canasta low-light TV.

Even though its newer than the PT-76 & BTR-50s, the vehicle often sat in storage. This is mainly due to many different factors, but the primary one being that according to a source close to the Marine Corps, the vehicle doesn’t perform up to the expected standards. It’s said that the vehicle was prone to tipping over. The Procurement Plan of the New Order Era is mired with corruption, and as such usually the deal which fills the pocket of the government is the one they will go for, without the input of the branches receiving them. It could also stem from the different doctrine in which the Indonesian Marine Corps uses them compared to their French Counterparts.
In 1996, a special variant was developed & offered for Indonesia & Singapore. The AMX-10P “Marine”, as it was called, would feature several improvements to Marine Operations, namely an uprated 6 F11 SRX Engine, anti-corrosion treatment, bilge pumps, as well as a trim vane & watertight inlets/outlets, among other improvements specifically designed to optimize the vehicle for marine operations. This variant would fit three different turrets, namely either a 12.7mm HMG, 25mm autocanno, or the 90mm It’s unclear exactly whether the Indonesian AMX-10 underwent this upgrade program.
Currently only the PT-76s (B & M), BMP-3Fs, & BTR-50s are still being used for amphibious operations. With the AMX-10 & newly acquired BTR-4Ms confined for land-base use only. Barring the IFV variant, the FSV & APC variant has seen use from time-to-time. Most recently the FSV was reactivated and has conducted test firing for the transfer to the Marine Corps 3 in Papua, with it mostly acting as reserves without conducting any amphibious operations.
