MTI can be used without PD
ADATs is hard because it never actually reached operational status. But fully stabilized gun systems can track airplanes (there’s a great video clip of an M1 tracking an A-10 while driving) so I don’t know that I would feel comfortable staring authoritatively that couldn’t shoot on the move.
Most of the IR missile systems can shoot on the move. Typically the set up time is more for the radar system than the weapons. Most radars do not do well driving off road whilst spinning 🤣
Same theory though I mean IRL.
VT-1 is better than 95ya6
There is no way an AIM-9X reaches out that far what?? I’m not trying to downplay you I’m like genuinely shocked
Also, I meant specifically semi active systems such as Roland. Systems that both require a radar lock to be made and maintained. Those do not exist in the West, again, because of the prevalence of air superiority fighters. Introducing F&F active radar homing SPAA is honestly something I personally would rather not see.
Unclassified data says 10 miles/35 KM for an air launched 9x. So ground launched @15 km would be roughly 40 some percent.
Doesn’t sound entirely impossible.
10 miles???
dude I’m so out of the loop what when did the range get so long on that thing
I mean the only difference between ARH SPAA and the Type 81 is just that the Type 81 uses IR-guided missiles (which are still FnF).
I mean yeah but the IR guidance is (at least in my experience) much easier to fool than radar guidance. Idk it just seems like sticking SLAMRAAMs onto like every tree ever is not really a good idea.
Even more fuel to the “why is pantsir in the game” fire. Like come on dude you introduce the Tor at the same time as Pantsir when Tor is like literally the Soviet equivalent to the VT1?? Which is like the top missile for a lot of countries?? come on dude the balancing department has to be throwing darts at a dartboard at this point
Even the 9M was 10 miles.
The block III 9x supposedly has an even longer range.
Ok maybe only firing it in air to air and seeing the relative distance not change has done something to my distance perception
Weekly Pantsir complaint thread.
It also has to do with the actual engagement parameters, it’s much easier to hit a target flying right at you at range than one who is maneuvering.
China does have a-lot of potential SPAA that could be added, but never will since information on their missiles and radar is mostly speculation.

I would love to see any of these added but there are far to many unknown specs about missile specification and radar capability that for now, leaves to many unknowns. If you have any additional information on any of these, I would love it if would share it if possible.
True, but I’m thinking like from rear aspect. Sidewinders have a “range” of sub 5km from rear aspect assuming you and your target are going the same speed.
But yeah you are right, it would be easier to hit a guy flying towards the launcher.
That’s literally what I said though. “Apart from China,” China is the exception
Ah ok, my English sucks.
It is ok it happens sometimes
Yes but range, its just like Tor radar is better, but missile is uselss.
Yeah, a load of N/As,.
