It should move up in comparison to the other SPAAs on its BR.
There almost are no counterparts because they changed to AA systems that aren’t mobile, of course Gaijin knew this and added the Pantsir with no equal regardless because they don’t care.
I mean if Tor had better range then. I believe they did not model ESA radars properly, they just gave it faster scan?
Track radar intead of being a single beam that goes into the target, does line down line down line up line up
I was trying to imply that Rapier wouldnt trigger radar lock on aircraft.
Indeed it wont. Only search.
It absolutely has and still does.
It’s your best chance at taking out a high flying target slinging bombs down.
Interceptors are the only way to frag high-flying CAS in War Thunder currently.
Pantsir is incapable of doing so.
i cant imagine how you fly cas then. must always be at 20km away from battle lol
Bro it’s easy, just play russia, if you see a Pantsir, don’t CAS, or bring out KH38MTs and bully them. It seems clear to me that killing Pantsir isn’t that hard a thing, but just as Strela, the limitation of other SPAA is what makes it so OP as CAS rules against all but USSR.
? 13km - 17km. Never died to a Pantsir when doing CAS runs.
How about Pantsir needing a setup time, like can’t fire missiles without first deploying the hydraulic legs. Figure 5 seconds to deploy and another 5 seconds to retract. Guns should have massive recoil as well without the legs deployed. It’s unlike the Adats which is tracked and the flak not having hydraulic legs. The lack of mobility would bring pantsir’s advantage down quite a bit. They would also need to play differently and rely on their guns instead once planes get within a certain distance. Also locking aircraft under 50 feet should not be possible on ANY spaa
The fact they arent at a minimum moving it up to 12.0 and leaving it at the same BR as the ADATS is just crazy to me. No one, absolutely no one, can make an argument they are equal in performance
It’s not the 70’s anymore.
Okay. I’ve been killed many times playing helicopters while being under tree height.
As have I.
Radars are bugged in WT by being able to see through foliage.
However, being <50 ft altitude will not prevent modern systems (like ADATS/TOR/Pantsir) from locking you up.
Terrain masking is essentially the only way to stay safe from most “modern” IADS systems
Hard capping at a certain height would help fix that
Honestly the biggest issue I have vs SPAA is the mobility they have. Fire + move and also that certain SPAAs can easily shoot down incoming ordinance
It would also make low level helicopters unreasonably safe from non gun system AD vehicles, which includes many of the higher tier NATO AD assets.
As is, helicopter ASE like the IRCM is already drastically over performing I don’t think making an artificial altitude floor (against ground systems) is a good answer. Ground based AD systems, especially the post Vietnam era systems were specifically designed to counter ultra low flying targets like helicopters on the deck.
I have a much bigger issue with the A2A (especially the older Cold War systems) radars being able to resolve my helicopter when I’m hovering within a disk of a mountain, and below the peak, or just above the ground but masked by trees and having them bore in and strafe me when there’s no way they could actually resolve me in those situations.
SPAA in game is dramatically less capable than they should be.
