LY-70

LY-70

Hello everyone :), what I would like to introduce today is LY-70

Introduction

LY-70 is an advanced medium range field air defense missile weapon system, mainly composed of combat vehicles, launch vehicles, and support equipment. The LY-70 is capable of intercepting cruise missiles, air to ground missiles, guided bombs, rockets, as well as fixed wing aircraft, helicopters, drones and other targets around the clock, providing accompanying air defense and regional key air defense protection for ground forces and important facilities. The vehicle was first unveiled at the Zhuhai Airshow in 2021, and the launch vehicle can be replaced with different configurations according to demand.

The vehicle can shoot and guide missiles while in motion, and the onboard AESA search and fire control radar can support detecting flying objects within a radius of 90km. It can also use infrared electro-optical search and tracking equipment to attack targets. Optoelectronic equipment needs to be unfolded before it can be used. The weapon on board is the LY-70 missile and FB10A missile, with maximum ranges of 38km and 17km respectively. There are two FB-10A launch tubes installed on the upper part of the main launch box, making the total number of missiles in the vehicle 14.

The chassis uses a Volvo FM460 heavy-duty truck with a 6x2 drive and an AT2612F gearbox, with a total of 12 forward gears and 2 reverse gears. The engine has a horsepower of 460hp and a maximum torque speed of 1400rpm. The chassis has been redesigned, with an equipment compartment at the rear of the cab, a weapon turret installed in the middle of the chassis, a command and control instrument compartment in the middle of the turret, a foldable square electro-optical sight installed above the front, and a foldable square phased array radar installed at the rear of the turret.

Compared to other air defense systems, the LY-70 can carry more missiles, making it more convenient for saturation attacks against enemies. LY-70 can be used as an autonomous air defense system, but it can also be added to other air defense systems as part of a comprehensive air defense system. The control console of each vehicle in the system can serve as a command and control node, providing target information for the launch vehicle.

In game

The firepower configuration of the vehicle is very powerful, with a maximum range of 38km for missiles, which can pose a great threat to airborne objects. At the same time, the chassis of the carrier vehicle has excellent off-road performance and can reach the combat position in a timely manner.

Two types of missiles have different quantity configurations to choose from.
When the launch vehicle is equipped with radar, it can carry 8xLY-70 missiles and 6xFB-10A missiles.
When the launch vehicle is not equipped with radar, it can carry 12xLY-70 and 9xFB-10A missiles.

Inevitable no doubt. Its even part of an entire family of the “Falcon” air defense systems. Including:

Wait, a well thought out suggestion that even takes into consideration the game balance?

Well this is rare.

+1!

Also gonna repost this one to our discord :)

Reminds me of the how the Type 81C can use both IR and ARH missiles but this one actually has a RADAR. It’s pretty sick. This is for sure a BR 11.7+ vehicle. A definite add but it should get both missiles considering we already have ARH missiles in-game, it’s just going to be dodging the ground version essentially. +1

there is a mistake here, 17km is for the smaller FB-10A(in this system, it’s called LY-70IR). if there is a real LY-70IR, it should shares almost same 40km range(may be a little less, as the IR seeker cowling usually has more drag).

Though a real IR version is not exhibited, so we need to wait for the 2024’s Zhuhai air show, maybe it will never come out(because of no need for a 40km range ir missile).

this would not work, it will means remove 8 missiles, only use the 6 small ones. making it even worse than a FB-10A system with 8 missile.
so, it’s really not quite suitable for the game.

The range data of LY70IR on the official website is 17km

No, FB10A does not occupy the main launch box and can carry 8 LY70IRs and 6 FB10A missiles simultaneously, so the total number of missiles is still 14

LY70IR = FB-10A, just renamed same thing.
There is no such “IR version LY-70R” thing, only ARH version, and additional FB-10A/LY-70IR

So since they are one thing, which means the large launch box can be compatible with FB10A? Does that mean it can carry 14 FB10A at the same time?

no, clearly not. it’s strange, stupid and impossible to put FB-10A in that big box
Large is for LY-70R and small is for LY-70IR/FB-10A.

Okay, I roughly understand now

Still, my regard for writing this issue.
and it would be better if you can edit the topic to correct this. it’s really misleading, and may cause misunderstanding.

Is there anything else that needs to be modified?

Well, we are getting to the realm of 100KM range air surface missile in next few updates, so maybe it is good time to suggest those medium range SAM system like this or HQ16 now.

just these parts. merge LY-70IR is FB-10A parts and indicate that they are the same thing
