It's been 1101 days since Air Simulator Battles [Enduring Confrontations] received a new map

Seeing as Enduring Confrontations is receiving it’s first minor update in years this patch, with the updated bomber, fighter and surveillance aircraft fleet, along with new air defences at 10.7+ - I thought it would be fitting to once again bring up the subject regarding the lack of new content for the Air Simulator community.

The last time there was a new map being added to Enduring Confrontations was Rocky Canyon on October 26th, 2022. A little over 3 years ago [Meet Major Update “Fire and Ice”! - News - War Thunder].

Since then, the Simulator community has spent countless hours suggesting and communicating on the forums regarding possible changes and additions that could be made to improve our beloved EC game mode. This has included suggestion posts, open letters, and communication from content creators directly to Gaijin.

Enduring Confrontation is in desperate need of a face-lift. And whilst some new aircraft fleets and airfield defences is a good start, what we really need is some new EC maps. Hopefully these EC maps could be paired with some new objectives, air-to-air/ground attack targets and gameplay aspects utilising some of the new additions the game has seen in these past 3 years like strategic bombing targets, SEAD or anything really that could enhance the player experience and immersion.

Particularly top-tier has evolved a lot since 2022 where it consisted of Mig23’s, Viggens and F14A’s. With today’s engagement distances, radar ranges and aircraft speeds, most of the current EC maps feel very cramped and overwhelming. The new competitive landscape could see a big improvement with a new large map with plenty of terrain.

I want the Simulator community to communicate below what they’d like to see added in terms of future EC content and maps. The Falkland Island suggestion post by Mathll contained a Simulator segment on how it could work in EC, and I’ve personally made a suggestion post for Pyrenees to be added, which garnered a 99% approval from over 300 votes, yet never even got forwarded by the suggestion moderators. I think this map would be perfect for top-tier. I’ll link these posts below with other EC improvement suggestion posts that I know of. If you want to see any added just link it below and I’ll add it to the post as soon as I can.

Many players have left Air Simulator recently due to the lack of new content and the feeling of our gamemode being abandoned. Please show the Simulator community some love Gaijin, thank you.

i would love to have mysterious valley as a map personally, so much varies terrain. but atp ill take anything

I agree Mysterious Valley would be super cool in sim, I love the flanking potential through all the valleys.

Perhaps reduce the lobby sizes of the uppermost BR bracket to ~6 per side

And maybe make lower BR convoy AA a bit less precise? maybe that’s a skill issue on my side, but many would agree a slight nerf would be welcome

First time I write in the forum. There is many way too improve Air simulation and be able to attract and even compete with other air simulator games, here is my ideas not in order :

  • Adding Night hours either both props and Top tier or just Top tier ( all jets at top tier have night vision but in ASB we still don’t play in it).

  • Adding Cooperation points ( assist by spotting any type of target to other players/ Formation points by staying close to others players, it will be useful for covering a CAS player/ Sharing points while destroying enemies vehicles like Carrier…Destroyers…tanks…AA).

  • Adding Co-op gameplay in same plane/jets, with a shared reward as many vehicles could be played as duo like Mirage 2kD, F14 etc.

  • Adding New concept for ground battles, if a battle appears the convoy will spawn to resupply the battlefront either by spawning few other tank or AA when reached ( like real life too), if no actions is made by players at any time the side of the battlefront that have more tanks win, and the battlefront move from one Square.( Make it a loop).
    Until the battlefront reach an airfield and if won the airfield will be lost.
    This will bring players to be active, too have a meaning during a Simulation match.

  • Adding Spotting reward of airfield, aircraft,tanks, ships, artillery, base.

  • Adding NPC’s on aircraft carrier and Airfield.

  • Adding more working tools in Cockpits.

  • Adding Air refueling for aircraft that can do buddy to buddy.

  • Adding more large maps.

  • Adding New mission and their rewards to: Spotting this type of enemies/base/airfield.

  • Adding REWARDS to : Covering Bombers/attack planes/ recon aircraft.

So that’s just the ideas that I have in top of my head that many players told me since I play and were lacking for bringing simulation attractive.

big + for the ability to request a night / dusk battle in the lobby creation, for modern jets with NVDs it would be great

Also true, being in the vicinity of friendly AI bomber / strike sorties should give a bit of points; currently the only incentive is to prevent ticket bleed and potentially hunt enemy players.

Which is already an incentive, but doing an “uneventful” escort sortie should give a bit of score, too

But ist air sim all map play the same exept for jow much time you waste reaching someting this cant be changed by new map

Terrain plays a big role.

Spain is, I would say, the best map – it has a little bit of water for anti-shipping and fights at sea level, and it has hills and river valleys for sneaking in for air-to-ground missions.

At 12.0+ you are fast enough for the distances to not be such an issue, at the same time you don’t immediately get locked by an ARH missile on the airfield, and can hide in terrain without it being such a crazy hide-and-seek like Afghanistan

dont lie to youself 60 meters are more then enougt to avoid radar with minimal effort and so terain ia not neaded size only change how many second pass before you kill someone or get killed
