I’m the J-10A in the video. I saw on TWS that everyone on the other team was going cold to defend the initial barrage of missiles from the early game, so I took the opportunity to push really close. The clip begins as I’m practically in the enemy spawn (look at the minimap). I catch these guys off guard. Two of them headbutt my missiles, and the third guy (SU-30SM) sees me too late, and I’m firmly behind him. By the time he saw me, he had no time to defend. He knows he’s dead so he just J-s out just before my missile connects. My aircraft isn’t physically close enough for the kill to be awarded.
It’s a bit frustrating. I think I made a good play, pushing in. But I’m not fully rewarded for this, simply because the enemy player said no.
I think the radius for kill-reward to enemies bailing out should be increased in higher tiers. Or, since the missile evasion mechanic already exist, reward the kill based on whose missile is in the air.
I doubt you actually read through both of our posts. The post you linked is specifically inquiring the rules, and more specifically referring to the situation in which a player Js-out after launching missiles. I’m advocating for change in game mechanic, to mitigate the behavior of J-ing out to deny kill-reward.
Used to be that the kill for any crash was awarded to the nearest enemy to account for “maneuver kills” and yeah cads j-ing out or crashing to keep from “giving” a kill.
Players complained.
So now they are just given a crew lock as punishment.
I agree, not ideal. But its very hard to programmatically referee the hundreds of real-time dynamics in a match. I guess missiles make it easier since the server has that A & B data points to work with.
Oh i did, i saw several responses in the thread i linked that talked about rewarding the kill to nearest player (or similar mechanics), around reply 68 or so i think?
Just checked, did he really J-out? I see nothing popping out (sit with parachute) might just be my eyes though. It has happened to me too, both in ARB and GRB, I threw a few Spikes to a Pantsir and when he saw that he was being underwhelmed by the Spikes he J-out. Of course I had to sacrifice my vehicle for it and didn’t get the kill, just childish behaviour which I’m tired of.
For me personally, not at all. I just generally help with linking already existing threads that talk about similar enough issues for the threads to be reasonable to be just one instead of two separate threads.
They are not similar enough to warrant silencing the second thread. This is exactly what I mean when I say “the only purpose is to stiffle conversation”.
They don’t have to be. That’s not the only way to stiffle conversation. You can also do it by locking 90% of posts quickly and citing that they are "repeat"s while you ignore the few topics you allow to leave open.
How is closing repeats and linking to an already existing topic “stiffling” it? I see that as funneling likeminded players to one cohesive thread to further the discussion. i honestly can’t see how that would result in a conversation dying out. In that case it would be on the user if they don’t respond in the linked thread.
But now we’re are getting off-topic. You’re free to send a pm if you want to continue the discussion :)
They do certainly need to rework how kills are rewarded from J-outs in an era of long ranged weapons, the current system works for guns and early missiles. but when fights can routinely be beyond the current 3km range, soemthing needs to be better. Even if an assist is simply reward to anyone (and everyone) with a radar lock (soft or hard) or if there is a missile tracking, would be better than nothing.
Had an AMX do it to me in an F3 in SB with missiles in the air.
Had a match the past weekend where two separate players just pitched into the ground the moment I slotted in behind them and they saw they couldn’t outrun me. With both instances I took the time to maneuver into an advantageous position, diving down behind them wasting time, altitude, and fuel I could have used to engage other players. In both instances they crashed and I got nothing. This is incredibly frustrating and just poor gameplay/design.
I really don’t understand the childish behaviour, they will have to pay either way for the costs, it’s not like they save money by doing it and moreover, they’ll get a crew lock. I think maneuvre kills should be counted as a kill (or enemy kill assist) because sometime people just fly straight to the ground and die while trying to dodge a missile or guns.
