Brit MOD says MiG-25 has like a 12 degree per second sustained turn rate. Even with it’s advancements it’s not like the MiG-31 will be significantly better.
I want the plane but also realistically it will be abysmal garbage for most people to play outside of lobbing funny Phoenix equivalent missiles from across the map and hoping for the best.
It’s flight model performance would basically be equivalent of something like the Tornado…maybe even worse in some regards.

The plane is kind of a turd for WarThunder purposes. Like it’ll be neat to gun kill someone with it in sim with the gun pod that is 30 feet below the pilot…but it’s really going to be a gimmick plane.
R-37 are very dangerous though, those will be a game changer
I doubt they add them any time soon. We are more likely to get R-40. The game right now isn’t really structured or ready for even longer range missiles.
Also multipath on Denmark makes missile go sploosh.
Well the MiG-29K’s primary armament is the R-77. It’d be better than the SMT, deserving of 13.7 in ARB. Even without R-77 it’s got an additional pair of hardpoints that can carry R-27s as well as a much improved radar, RWR, MAWS, and much more powerful engines compared to first-generation MiG-29s.
As for ~13.0 Soviet premiums there’s quite a few options-
Su-27P: Su-27S but without bombs. Pretty bland but simple and effective.
Su-27K: Prototype designation for the Su-33. I wish the Su-33 was TT and this was the squadron. It’s mostly here for reference.
Su-27IB: the prototype of the Su-34. Unsure what sort of armament it could carry; it’s so late it’s early and I don’t want to do any deeper digging.
Su-27: pre-production batch with AL-31s instead of AL-31Fs. No idea on the performance difference. Since the Su-27S is designated just Su-27 im-game (to be fair this was historically used as well) might be a bit confusing.
Su-27UB: twin-seat combat-capable trainer. Unlike the MiG-29UB it still has its radar fitted so it can still use SARH missiles and whatnot. The Su-30 (AKA Su-27PU, the Su-30SM we have in-game is a much later model) was basically an Su-27UB with upgraded radar.
MiG-29S/SD/SE: Upgraded MiG-29 and two export versions, all pretty much the same as a basic MiG-29 but with access to a pair of R-77 on the R-27 pylons (and R-27E, R-73 which ofc weren’t specific to these models). Probably 13.3 unless Gaijin just doesn’t give them R-77 which wouldn’t be too unreasonable IMO.
MiG-21-93: What would become the UPG, with avionics upgrades and access to R-73, R-27, and R-77 (which the Bison should also have)
MiG-23-98: My personal pick, a MiG-23ML with R-73, R-27, and R-77 plus an enormous avionics upgrade to roughly MiG-29SMT level
MiG-31BS: MiG-31 Izdeliye 01 brought up to MiG-31B standard (we’d of course need the 01/01DZ and 31B first or at least at the same time)
And for a “direct MiG-29G equivalent” there’s also the 9.12 which would be pretty much identical (so a bit less interesting IMO than most of the options above)

I’d rather have the n001 than the early f-16 radar ngl, n001 has smaller notch gates plus it has the funny irst gimmick of launching, either unlocking or going into irst then switch back to pd. Plus it has tws over the early f-16s not including the Chinese mlu (which really should get AMRAAMs anyways). Only bad thing about su27 early is that horrendous pd acm but you can just use pd hmd or irst acm
And both radars are still 1000x more effective than the radars in any ARH.
Combine with R-27ERs raw performance, and its fine.
It’s just made up BS, sure it’s a bad radar. The soviets made bad radar, but you make it out like it’s impossible to ever lock onto anything and yet… No one else seems to struggle using it in any matches I play.
Nothing can ever be worse than the Foxhunter Stage W we had to fight Mig29s for 3 months in 2023, and that could lock onto things just fine
Su-27 family going to 13.0 in sim might finally give a reason to spade the su-33, never spades it due to it just being a worse su-27s for rb, but for sim it might actually be better due to rwr (although less cms and much worse fm)
It’s more so maintaining a tws track, as it doesn’t have automatic elevation tracking in tws, which means you need to use manual radar controls or you need to use src pd. Plus it has an utterly horrendous scan speed. After they fixed double scan bug, it’s fine. Also, Hardlock it’s perfectly fine
And if you are guiding an R27ER… You will be in hardlock.
As long as you got a modern rwr, it’s still easy to notch ANY radar in the game, just got to get to around ±8 degrees of 90 degrees and drop <4 chaff, below horizon you don’t even need chaff and above horizon you need chaff. Su-27 can’t guide in its 27er if it can’t see you through radar. That’s why planes with good fms are meta at 13.0, it doesn’t matter what radar missile you got if it can be easily negated and be forced into a df
And again… Tornado Gr4… 90% of the time that doesn’t work. R27ER still hits. AMRAAM, that works 100% of the time. Probably the IOG needs a nerf. But it’s way harder to defeat an R27ER than a MICA EM imo
Half the time R-27ER will guide to a player in the notch with the IOG it has, you basically need 15+ km of separation to reliably defend against them.
When I played the Su-33 anyone who challenged me without R-27ER of their own below 20km was basically guaranteed dead. Even planes with AIM-120 or MICA. They couldn’t defend fast enough to reliably defeat the missile or the radar.
and the insane thing to think about is that for 18 months, the only thing most people had to try and fight R-27ER was Aim-7M and equivalents. No wonder we had to have 100m MP
They should have added the Mig-29 with R-73 with no IRCCM and R-27R rather than the ahistorical R-60 + R-27ER combo they actually added. It would have been far more balanced and they really need to make that change to bring the Mig-29s into a historically accurate fit without R-27ERs.
not only. SARH are good in wt due to fact even if you will break a lock - it will go to chaffs - theres still chance due to sidelobe antennas.
So, you need to notch both radar and missile.
You don’t need to notch the missile itself, you need to get out of the sidelobes
