MIG-23-98-1

image

Hello everyone :), what I would like to introduce today is MiG-23-98-1.

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, countries equipped with MiG-23s encountered problems such as insufficient combat effectiveness, inadequate maintenance, and outdated weapons and equipment. Therefore, the Mikoyan Design Bureau began a series of modernization upgrades and maintenance plans.

The MiG-23-98-1 is a modernized and upgraded version of the MiG-23ML developed by the Mikoyan Design Bureau in the 1990s. Similar to the MiG-21-93, it is equipped with more advanced radar, compatible with more weapons, and can handle both air and ground combat simultaneously. The MiG-23-98-1 introduced in this article is the most advanced and expensive among the three different models of the project.

As the most advanced modification in the project, the MiG-23-98-1 uses the Moskit-23 multi-purpose Doppler radar to replace the old Sapphire 23 radar and upgrade the fire control system. This radar is a derivative model of N010 and has multi-purpose functions. It can search and track up to 8 airborne targets, ground targets, and even sea surface targets. It can detect targets up to 90 kilometers long, is equipped with a Kh31 anti-ship missile control system that can also guide other surface weapons, and is equipped with a helmet mounted display.

Air to air weapons are also a major highlight of it. The most prominent feature is its compatibility with the R-77 active radar missile, which can carry up to 4 missiles. At the same time, it can also use R-27 series missiles, but can only carry up to two on the wings. For infrared guided missiles, they can carry up to 4 R-73 missiles or 6 R-60M missiles.

It also has many ground weapons, in addition to traditional unguided weapons, it can carry two Kh-29T/Kh-25ML or four FAB-500KR/FAB-500L, and can mount an electro-optical pod at the center of the fuselage In addition, if users have sufficient funds, they can also install more powerful fire control radar, making the combat effectiveness of MIG-23-98-1 close to that of MiG-29SMT but at a lower cost

In terms of power, it uses the R-35-300 engine, which can provide a thrust of 13000 kilometers and a maximum speed of 2450 kilometers per hour. In battle, the wing sweep angle decreased from 45 ° to 33 °. It is also equipped with a new GLONASS/GPS navigation system and comes with an MFI-68 LCD multifunction display.

In 1999, the only prototype of the White 36 aircraft was manufactured. The technical features of this aircraft were modernized and capable of handling multi-purpose combat, attacking aerial, ground, and surface targets, making its overall combat effectiveness close to that of fourth generation fighter jets Mikoyan Company highly recommends the MIG-23-98-1 upgrade plan to foreign users, who believe that this plan can give the MIG-23 combat power close to that of the F16C, as it is equipped with HMD sights and has a variety of ground attack weapons However, after the launch of the plan, there was little response and orders were never received, as these countries tended to directly purchase the more advanced F16C or JAS-39 rather than upgrading the old MiG-23.Some countries choose to retire the MiG-23 and switch to the cheaper MiG-21 due to their inability to maintain and reduce military spending.

In game

The MiG-23-98-1 is an advanced improved version of the MiG-23, with its active radar missile R-77 that can be launched without hesitation. At the same time, it can also launch missiles such as R-73 and R-27R/T.The updated radar also provides better enemy detection capabilities than the current MiG-23 in the game, and a variety of ground weapons can be used by players in land warfare. It is very suitable as a gift pack plane to join the game, and it is recommended that the BR be 13.0.

would love this a a rank 7 premium or something for russia as other than the other mig23 there isn’t a decent premium to grind russia tech tree

+1, as the rank 7 premium
If not this as a premium then something like the MiG-29OVT.

Gib as a TT vehicle, a transitionary vehicle from the flogger to the fulcrum

+1 Should definitely be in the TT. The best version of an aircraft shouldn’t be locked away as a premium. (looking at you F-4S)

+1 preferably in the tech tree

+1, probably as a premium. It’s better than the Harriers but worse than the ICE or Tornado. So I guess 13.0 but with a bit of decompression 13.3

Well unlike the F-4S this was a prototype

Ok

+1 This is an interesting fighter, but as an ASB player, I would prefer to choose a modification without the P-77, because at the moment there is a shortage of red team players in sessions 12.7.

No because:

  1. It’s Soviet vehicle, they don’t have issues with its quantity.
  2. 12.0 should not face Fox-3 missiles.
  3. This is an aircraft for the ussr, which already has the MiG-23ML that covers its needs for a top tier premium jet.

SU-27 and MIG-29, that’s all the variety. We want our own equivalent of the F-20

Tell it to the Swedes

Good as a premium, soviet needs top tier premium. As much as I hate them, many other countries have them, even minor ones so it is only fair

Well 12.0 already faces the Kfir C10, Viggen, J8F, Av8 Plus/Harrier Fa2, F4F ICE. The Soviets, Japan italy and france are the only nations without ARH at that br. The Mig23 is similar in flight performance to all of those except the Harrier/AV8. None of these should face 12.0s but if most nations get to enjoy a 13.0 ARH carrier then it is more fair if everyone gets one. I Also think that the USSR currently lacks a competitive jet between 11.0 and 13.0, mainly due to most of them having awful RWR and subpar missiles. Only exception is the MLD/ML but they got shafted in terms of their radar and flightmodel.

italy was the first nation with a 13.0 arh carrier

must have missed it woops, but my point still stands

I think it would be better in the TT, but I could see this becoming a rank 8 premium, to go with the F-20, Mig-21 Bison, or Viggen DI.
