Regular JAGMs aren’t an upgrade over Hellfires and again, the MRs haven’t entered service yet
what does it matter? they exist, theyve been tested
Many are, but many arent. In fact the only US helis outstanding for Britain is the AH-64E and an AH-60 built by Britain , the other non British is a BAE MI-24D. The other 10 or so suggestions are all British designed and built. Mostly variants of existing vehicles we already in including a number of Lynxs’ but all great options. Interestingly the Wildcat hasnt actually been suggested yet. I may have a suggestion in my future.
Yes, JAGM is the main AGM planned for the AH-64E. But I have no idea about the JAGM-MR. But the JAGM are SAL+MMW iirc so will only be SAL currently as they have no plans to add MMW.
The main reason at the moment for the AH-64E would probably be for Brimstones no JAGM with teh absense of MMW, but would still be SAL only, just with better range
So for FnF capability we are better off with the Martlet on the Wildcat which is an 8km range missile with SAL, IR, IIR, INS and GPS guidance modes. Also the Wildcat can carry 20 of them :P
fair enough for UK. but for many other nations its mostly US and USSR airframes
i think the wildcat would be a great addition though, could have a whole naval heli update with that
Yeah, they exist just like the T-14 Armata, AbramsX, KF-51, etc.
These missiles not having entered service means there is no way of knowing if they will actually end up being used in the configuration they currently have been tested in and on the vehicles that they have been tested on or projected to be used on so far.
Plus, how is gaijin gonna get reliable info on these things anyways?
Germany looks mostly its own helis or British Helis
USSR is its own
Japan looks to a mix of native and US Helis
China looks to be mostly native helis or soviet helis
Italy Looks mostly native helis with a bit of Anglo-Italian helis
France Looks mostly native, British or European/German helis but some US
Sweden has no suggestions currently
Israel looks to be a mix of US and Soviet helis
So only really Japan, France and Israel is waiting on “US helis” and China and Israel on “soviet helis” and out of those, they have non-US/USSR options available except for Israel it seems
Eurocopter = Airbus/Europe
Westland = British
Agusta = Italian
Leonardo = Anglo-Italian
Sikorsky = US
range is known to be 16km+, and it is confirmed to have a tri-mode seeker
T-14 and KF-51 are going to be production MBT so they are bad examples.
there is no indication that the production JAGM-MR will differ greatly from the tested ones, itll probably be better if its changed at all
italy has like 8 american helis in the suggestions
Agusta just license makes Bell stuff for a lot of helis
License counts as unique(variants), and are even listed separately on wikis including the WT one.
It has a few, but it also has a load of its own stuff as well. More than enough for a decently sized tree without adding a single US license built aircraft
still American heli?
a huey is still a huey
fair enough. but doesnt stop them from adding more stuff to US and USSR heli trees which some people are apparently opposed to
So an AV-8B+ is a British aircraft and therefore the Spanish EAV-8B+ should come to the British TT.
A Harrier is still a harrier
thats the McDonnell Douglas AV-8B. they are made in USA except for engine no?
and it was a joint project between the 2 that the UK dropped out of then rejoined after MDD did a lot of stuff.
however id rather teh EAV-8B+ go to US or Italy since both use MDD Harrier II but UK uses BAE Harrier 2. there are actual differences between them too
No one is “opposed” to it. But the
This is the US tree
This is the USSR
This is Japan
This is Britian
This is Italy (but looks mostly Hungarian)
MythoGR1 was lol
im not opposed to other nation getting more helicopters
So… Its a License built harrier that the US modified? Just like how its the Augusta-bell AB 212 which the Italians modified extensively to fit their needs
it isnt license built its also designed in US
what is so different about the AB212 anyways?
The US and USSR have around double the number of Helis everyone else has at the moment. Its not unreasonable to put them on pause for an update or 3 so that everyone else can get new helis. Besides, until MMW is added. There is relatively minimal value from adding other variants to both as far as I am aware, apart from maybe spike equipped AH-64E. (I think JAGM-ER is too good if it has 16km range)
They can get the Japanese SH-60, Thai EC AS550 C3, maybe Thai AH-6 pending on armament, and Thai AH-1F. Still very limited though. There’s also other nations they will likely add.
Edit: They could add Singaporean AH-64D, Indonesian AH-64E, and Indonesian Mi-35P as well.
