That’s my point.
Investment in Naval is laughably small when compared to other modes because the return is also laughably small.
I actually wouldn’t be surprised if they said that Naval as a project is still a net negative for the company.

Do you play what CC shows? How old are you?
I think ships inherently produce more boring gameplay than aircraft or tanks, due to their slower nature and lack of faster pace. Sadly, you can’t make ships more agile and snappy without sacrificing realism.
My opinion is that the average player don’t really like that, hence all the negative comparisons where planes/tanks get called “boats” due to their unresponsiveness.
That said, you could probably make it look engaging, but I think that’s outside of the scope for Gaijin, as all game modes are notoriously bad.
Did I say I do ?
It would be foolish to think many viewers don’t just get hooked on stuff that CCs show, as in their minds those things are now popular and they simply have to jump on that train.
That’s why NAB is twice is popular than NRB.
They seemed more upset about all the time getting good at something was lost, (which is completely understandable) rather than what the change actually was. IMO it’s a huge improvement but then I don’t even understand why NRB even exists
For me, the only entertaining part of Naval Arcade battles was the aiming. If you take skill-based aiming away, what do you have left? Positioning? Positioning is just about learning the maps - after a while, you’ll know each one perfectly and end up using the same positions over and over. But aiming was always the challenging part: enemies move in different directions at different speeds, and each ship has different weak spots you had to consider with the previous, less precise aiming mechanics. Sure, it was challenging, but it was fun!
For example, a few days ago I got this kill in Ground Arcade:
I’m moving, the enemy is moving in the opposite direction. I have to calculate the lead in my head, using both knowledge and intuition. I love it when such shots work! Playing the old Naval Arcade actually helped me a lot to understand how to adjust my aim in such situations.
Now imagine the same shot if Ground Arcade used the same aiming system as the new Naval Arcade. You just point at the enemy and… click. Everything else is calculated automatically, and you just kill the enemy. Where’s the fun in that?
If I were five years old, then yes, this new automatic aiming system would probably be fun for me. But I’m not five anymore. Point-and-click games get boring very quickly.
This is probably one of the reasons modern tanks still don’t have features like auto lead where the computer basically makes all the work for you.
This is also why I think Air doesn’t have a bright future, as more and more mechanics are getting automated.
So problem is in you, that you only focusing on aimng. Maybe if you played not just Moffet, you could figure something else. But i know that Moffet in a bad state now(cause of spread increasing, bigger maps and higher br), for sure all who abused it are disappointed.
Started playing naval because I got sick of being continually getting revenge bombed by players that are generally mediocre at air battles. My first games had the old aiming system which I found OK but the new system is terrible; firing at a turning target is a disaster, shells not even close except at very close range. The only way that gets anywhere close I find is to use the low magnification range finder and target outside the brackets, at least the shells don’t land on another MAP! However as you have mentioned boring repetitive maps, Bots that run you down, mayhem if just one spawn location and if a cruiser battle is desired forget it…a BR of 4.7 will guarantee a Capital Ship being used as a STATIC BATTERY behind an island safe from any torpedo except if delivered by aircraft. Still can’t understand why anybody would get enjoyment out of that last one. Oh, forgot the Russian bias. So Blue Water out and Coastal in, more fun but again ship BR’s totally useless and Russian bias, oops already mentioned that one.🤣
Questoin; do you know why the French do not have a separate Coastal Fleet?
Because someday you are the Battleship.
“its okay to be brutalized by dogshit balancing because you have a chance to become the one brutalizing others”
To answer that last question. France has a seperate coastal tree, they’ve had one for quite a while now
the gamemode is flawed, not the player xD
It’s war thunder business model.
Yes, there are a lot of problems with Naval, it’s obviously not just the simplified aiming. The funny thing is that 4-5 years ago most of these issues didn’t exist. We had a single damage model for all vessels, and every ship could actually fight each other. Sure, maybe it wasn’t perfect, but you always felt like you could do something no matter what you played. You could use any shell type and still be effective. And we didn’t have the almost unkillable ships back then. It’s surprising how much the devs have broken since then. Naval used to be my favorite mode, but now I don’t even play it anymore.
I don’t really understand this question. France already has both tech trees in the game:
BTW, please ignore Kweedko. He always tries to derail proper discussions.
and that’s bad!
Make a suggestion.
Do you know that it was players who asked HE and SAP to be nerfed?
already done, as you can see the developers clearly care a lot
