F90 is better at longer range and even if it was pl12 level its still op on a platform like f14
F-14A standard never gets Fakour 90s:
F-14A is a below-average airframe for 12.7, it’s not as bad as Kfir or Viggen, and it’s still worse than Mig-29, F-16A, Yak-141, Mirage 2000D-RMV, and F-20A. It’s the worst airframe at 12.7 only because Kfir and Viggen aren’t 12.7.
F-14A also has a worse RWR than Mig-23, Viggen, and Mig-29.

Also bvr is meta not df and f14iraf is much better at it then anyone until 13.7

Too bad the F-14A IRIAF is too slow to use BVR as well as F-14B using AIM-7s.
Fakour-90s are good, they’re still on the worst 12.7 airframe.
F-14A IRIAF is balanced at its current BR, and the only way it goes up is if the entire 11.7 - 12.7 bracket goes up with it with maybe a couple subsonic exceptions… well and the over-BR’d F-104S ASA.
Even if its the wort airftame the f90 are so good that make this plane op in 12.7
F14b isnt better then f14iraf
F-14B has more countermeasures, superior RWR, superior SARH missiles, vastly superior engines, and superior IR missiles.
F-14B is superior to F-14A in all ways except ARH.

I would argue f14 iriaf to be more powerful than f14b in every way possible. But then again 13.0 would be a good spot for iriaf as well.

No, the F-14A IRIAF is inferior to the F-14B.
That’s like saying the Panzer IVF2 is superior to the KV-1E just cause the gun is better ignoring every other aspect of the tanks.
The AIM-7Fs are still more maneuverable than the Fakour 90s due to the AIM-7’s relatively slower speed.
So while the F90s will “force” the F-14B to bob and weave, the F-14B will defeat the missile, then out-air-RB the F-14A.
Having an ARH isn’t an instant win button, just like having AIM-7Cs or Matra R511s isn’t an instant win button.
You have to use them properly, and hope the enemy isn’t decent.

If your only metric was getting kills. Maybe, but only if you stayed in BVR.
If you are looking at an overall more rounded view of the aircraft, considering both overall loadout (IR and ARH weapons), defensive systems like RWR and CMs and overall flight performance. The slight loss in power with wise of going from F-90s to 54Cs is tiny compared to everything else.
F-14A IRAF, you might get 1-2 kills from your intial volley, but after that, you are done for the rest of the match if vs the competant members of the enemy team. F-14B can actually fight in most regimes quite well and is a potent aircraft that can go toe to toe with a fair few other fighters at the BR.

Not only that, but because of how WVR air RB is, and how quick the competition is in speed, the F-14A having Fakour 90s while strong in BVR, it’s still relying on the enemy to fly like bombers AND acknowledge BVR rather than closing distance and behaving in a manner that defeats ARHs kinetically.

Yeah, there is that too. Was in a Sim match yesterday in F3, was farming kills on people flying in straight lines, even aircraft like the WTD61 which has one of the most potent SARH/ARH defensive suites in game. Its remarkable how poorly some people defend

It’s why I say F-14B is only really great in air sim, people just aren’t as aware.
F-14A is sad in all modes though due to the RWR and engines.
F-14A IRIAF is usable in sim though thanks to the F90s, and obviously balanced in air RB.

i’ve had some sucess with the R27R1’s but you only get 2 and everyone goes very low, combined with your mediocre radar, it cant do all that much after going through the fakours

what am i supposed to use then? AIM-7E-2’s and R27R1’s? they better bump it down to 12.0 if theyre gonna give it that loadout

R-27R is decent but the Sedjil is hilariously strong. I’ve traded with JF-17s firing ARH missiles at me with it. It hit them before they thought to notch. It’s basically a SARH Fakour 90. Had I a little more distance on him, I bet I could’ve defeated his missile too. I run with one Sedjil and one R-27R in the rare occasion I play the Ali-cat.

oh ok. i like r27’s more since it just has solid all around performance, you cant outmanuever it effectively
