Confusion about the newish mechanic "Written off"

So what is considered as written off I know they talked about severe damage being one of the reasons but I don’t think my plane was in such a condition that it was decided to be written off. Is there any need for the way they check damage to be so intense

have they already talked about modifying it in some way or is this just the new normal now?

I would assume because your tailsection is black that got counted as severe damage despite leaving you perfectly able to keep flying. The entire system was in need of a rework from day one
