its not really any clear answer to why the ability was lost on the later 9.41 based planes, but its most likely related to the completely new wing design.

Honestly id muıch rather see the normal mig31 ingame since the r37 just wont be good. Flankers can carry the r37s too and they will prob also get if it gets added and other nations will also get their next gens. Mig31 carries less missiles than a flanker and its airframe is worse compared to the flanker for the maps we have rn. The non suffix mig31s could be cool since they will be at a lower br with r33 sarhs.
i guess yeah but at the same time it would just be a similar situation at a lower BR with the R-33 MiG-31 vs R-27ER flankers.
R-33s only outperforms the R-27ER at normal MiG-31 operating speed and altitude, 9/10 times you arent able to reach that in a normal ARB match.
True. Mig31 just doesnt fit the game but I feel like the base mig31 has the biggest chance to shine since it can even be for the low bracket nuclear thunder event.
I mean in general the r27 is the better missile since the r33 cant really turn all that well but if gaijin can implement it realisticaly the mig31 would be able to fire 4 sarhs at 4 diffrent targets at once
yeah but you’re basically asking to be eaten by a fox 3 if you maintain lock. Plus mig-31 basic has no cms and it only has spo-15 so it’s a very easy target

Wouldn’t this essentially be the J-11A but with L-150, No MAWS, and N001VE as opposed to N001?

I think you maybe correct.
While the NIIP site for N001VEP only mentions 27SM and MK2, not SKM…
The KNAAPO site mentions NCTR for the MK2 (which we know uses N001VEP). And in game at least, the only difference between N001VE and VEP is said NCTR.

Sadly neither of the KNAAPO sites state what radar is used, and the NIIP site doesn’t mention SKM.
But if SKM is just an Export SM without downgraded avionics, It’s probably N001VEP.
