I did just now watch that replay, went to last night, but had turned game off, …wow I cant believe you caught that P51, those B7A2s are pretty hardy aren’t they? Well done.
Hey, I had the option to fly jets way back in 2013 or so when it was just the Sabre and Mig15 but didnt want anything to do with them, last year while staying in a hotel I thought, what the hell, because I was bored started flying the Sabre and Mig15 both…I will tell you what, that Sabre is FIRE, if you were to decide to fly a jet and still be able to dogfight. But Gaijin is catering to the younger crowd now, so occasionally you will be uptiered into a entry level missile BR with no countermeasures…But anyway, I have been back to flying my props more the last month, and so I test fly planes a lot to see where they will compress at different speeds, so here is my question, you are prop experienced,
Is the P40 and its different variations throughout the countries as good as it seems?, It has good speed, engine doesnt overheat, its armament, usually 50 cals is good for that BR, it handles well on test flights, but is deceiving (test flights) Ive found. What do you think of P40?
Another prop I used to love is Spitfire Mk IIb, but now I cant deal with the engine cutting out because it doesnt have fuel injection, but man, that thing handles so good!, with a 20mm cannon.
Let me know what you think about P40 mate.
I have some real hot s**t jets I can get into if I want to straight up kill, the only thing I miss when in a prop is that power to go from 50m to 1000m just like that…but its a different style, I keep my energy up better now in props, because of my experience in jets.
Hmh - i just fly rank III stuff to fulfil daily/special BP tasks. Flying lower rank planes makes imho just sense to build up crew points or if you want to have a challenge.
So for flying P-40s you might ask other guys. I meet them frequently when flying out the 3.3 410 A-1 and as they are slower and have a much worse climb I do not consider them as a threat - Same as your mentioned Spit IIB even as their climb is better.
From my pov Air RB around 3.0 is dominated by Yak-1s / B-239s / I-16s / Ki-43 & 44 and sometimes by experienced pilots in P-39s/63s and 109 F-2s. I can’t remember matches in which i saw P-40s acting in a decisive way.
GL with your project!
Mirage 2000C-S4
- My first “Top Tier” aircraft when I was but a wee little level 40, brought me some of my most joyous moments in Warthunder and was the first aircraft I got an ace in at top tier(ish)
F4U-4B
- Absolute menace in headons with decent air to surface armaments and incredibly good guns
JA37C/D/DI
- Quite possibly my favorite aircraft overall. It is one of the most beautiful things that SAAB has put out and was the entire reason I began grinding Sweden. Also built to land on highways so +1
Thank you, I took it out for 2 battles and its climb rate is terrible, if I want to fly a plane around that BR I am going to stick to USSR or K43 Hyabusa, K43 fits me pretty well.
Thank you.
Ah, the joy of the first few “top tier” flights…my first ace at that level was the mig 23 ML when it was really good.
Thank you…I do not have JA37 yet, but it is getting close, just a beautiful plane, I sometimes spend an hour just looking at planes…For some reason I just love the way my mig29 and F16C look lol.
Which MiG-29? Personally my rating order of them looks-wise is 29G, (9-12)s, (9-13), (9-19)
The MiG-23ML is still really good currently, though I think full IR loadouts will work a bit better, the Swedes have a way around aircraft that makes them look just so beautiful. Sadly I am still working on Sweden, at the A29 rn, but I have played the DI (prem) on a friend’s account and it’s pretty fun imo, though honestly the Viggen shines just as a portrait of an aircraft
Spitfires - classic, good turnfighters, overall very fun
overall the us 2.7 arcade setup (P-400, F4U-1A, F2A-3, P-38E, P-38G)
Lancaster B Mk.1 (iykyk) (only for customs with friends cuz i dont play british ground)
(only tried on dev):
F-16s - Good dogfighters, small and manuverable planes
Kfir C.7 - Pythons are basically R-73s without IRCCM and at a lower br and u get a very good engine
A-4H - 3 bases (if u take napalm) and good guns.
The Russian Mig 29.
Yes, the mig23 is still pretty good, it has two good radar missiles which at those BRs I am starting to prefer, because they cannot be flared off and depending on the radar mode you use, the chaff is not going to work either. Notching is not really prevalent at that point either.
Unfortunately, I started in Beta, and so I have a lot of the first four countries planes, except for bomber lines. I am one plane away from Eurofighter in Germany…And so France, Sweden, China and Italy…I am dabbling in. I have a decent job and so I have the Draken, Mirage 2000, A5C in three of them but nothing in Italy,…including no crew points, and so Italy will be out for me.
The two top of the line French fighters are what I really want, the Micas are incredible, and there we are again, I like the way the Mirages look. It sounds stupid, but if I dont like the way a plane looks, it distracts me and gets on my nerves LOL! But Mirage and Rafale are pretty bad ***
Yes, there is something about the Swedish designs…very nice.
For some reason I love the way the two Su27s look as well, they remind me of birds of prey.
Also, there is something about the Mosquito, I think it looks pretty cool
Good Luck Mate and enjoy your planes.
All very nice. I love the Spit MkIIb, I just wish it had fuel injection, the engine has cut out on me a few times at a crucial moment because of carb failure.
You have to love a Kfir with all aspect missiles, I have the Canard and its a beast, I can only imagine if it had all-aspects.
Thats one of the reasons I got the F5 Thai fighter, F5s are very good, but the missiles always got on my nerves…until the Thai fighter showed up with 4 all-aspects, I do alright in it.
Good Luck.
I flew the F16C about 70 times when it had only the Aim7s, going up against Fulcrums and Flankers with r27ers, …that was a little painful,…now the Viper has the fox 3s, it really turned it into a beast.
Hunter F.58
- my beloved. I got the Hunter as one of my first jets and grinded with it the whole German tech-tree as far as I could with it. I later then switched to the 21MF, the F-4F and the 23MLA, all of which are good in their own ways, but the Hunter is just one step above them.
It is also one of the only 2 aircraft where I have an ace crew in.
J-21A/A-21A
- my favorite prop in the Swedish tree
F4U-1D
- My go to Corsair before Gaijin exiled into rank 2, rendering it pretty much useless for grinding.
The Hunter has a really good reputation Ive noticed. Yeah, BR placement sure does make or break a plane in this game doesn’t it, in many ways.
Wish i had some high-rank tanks (a lot of squadrons have like rank5+ tank AND plane (i have the plane)) so i could also get the hunter. basically aim9j at 9.7 while the british hunters (9.7) get the sraam(tech tree f.6) and the not-on-sale fga gets the 9e(still worse than 9j)
Yak 3
One of the best all-around fighters, for example, its 20mm is superb, and the 12.7 hits like a truck. 17 second turn time 300ish in a straight line, And nice camos
Mig21s
R-3R is a god-tier head-on missile and can outrun anything except for an F-104, Can dogfight a bit but not for long. And a pretty good GSh 23, Meh cas
T18B-57
Can go 300mph in a straight line gets two 20mm a 13.2 and a magnificent 57mm and can dogfight somewhat also gets a bomber spawn. Great cas loadout.
I love CAS, so: Re.2005; P-47D and Tu-2S (though there are more actually XD).
LOL, its hard to pick just three, in one evening I may fly 15-20 different planes.
I was tellling someone in Academy post, I love mig21 frames.
Mate I wish I had some tanks or some interest in them, I have so many jets that are CAS great, but I simply have no interest in tanks, and the big problem is the jets Im talking about, I have to have a high rank jet to use them. I look at some of the loadouts on my jets, F16A…, A10A, etc… but I have no dang tanks.
Strike aircraft are almost useless starting in upper tier air rb, Im glad the test flights have improved, sometimes I take them on there to relax and just have some fun doing mock CAS.
Mate I know exactly what you mean when you say, “the gun hits like a truck”. There are just certain cannon or mg that hit hard.
I love my Cl mk Sabre family, but they have 50cals, which your approach has to be good.
I like Sabres. But when I want a cannon that hits hard I go with the F-86-2, the cannon on that thing, a short burst does its work.
When I think of my props, my Me 109 G2 trop…I put the 20mm gunpods on it, it has a good rate of climb and turn time, and the pods only take it down on that plane a micro amount…when I hit a plane with its fire the plane has been hit with a howitzer shell. LOL
Thanks for participating.
Whew, I bet that P47 is a bmf at CAS!
