I see you like planes that are maneuverable, I do too. I cannot something that doesn’t handle well. Whew, that US prem Spitfire is a monster.
Ah…forgot about that, thanks for that tip. I was looking at Micas in the research tree, I really like that 50g pull, with HMD I bet you can get some really good off bore shots with those.
I do indeed like my manoeuvrable planes.
Im not a fan of the charging rhino type of plane lol, I can use them, but I dont enjoy the playstyle as much.
Imho plane preferences go along with your goals whilst playing wt and your personality.
If i see that most guys prefer fighters this is more than comprehensible as wt is mainly a plain vehicle based shooter, and the only relevant figure is the number of kills or your K/D.
-
As soon as you have reached your goals regarding the grinding aspect of the game there is always the question how to proceed and how to find the perfect mix of fun and having a challenge at the same time.
-
As there is no real SBMM in place the majority of air players follow the wt meta and fly fighters - and flock to vehicles with op characteristics if they are kill-driven. The current player base allows way easier kills than 5 years ago - at every BR.
-
But if you played wt long enough and you are not kill-driven you get bored quickly as the game play in itself is rather repetitive. Therefore you might look for challenges like flying non-op aircraft and to fly in weak teams.
-
That’s why i was happy to see a player naming a 410 as preferred aircraft - as it needs a lot of skill to make them work in Air RB if you are not using it as head-on machine only.
So every long term player looking for a challenge might consider testing the Rank III 410 A-1 (3.3) and the Rank II US F6F-5 (3.3) as they combine the need for making your experience advantage work and give rookies a realistic fighting chance at the same time - whilst being mainly assigned to really bad teams.
I use both of them quite often (410 is aced, F6F will follow soon) and both punish you for mistakes immediately - but beating way superior aircraft in full uptiers is extremely satisfying.
Imho the golden age of the G-2 has ended a long time ago. Competitors outperform them in (almost) every aspect, even DEFYN has published a vid about this some time ago.
I see a hell of very good players using the 109 F-2 extremely successfully as the MG 151/15 works quite good and the way lower BR eliminates (or just reduces) the threat of facing too much enemies in severely undertiered aircraft.
Eurofighter Thyphoon (germany)- Exactly what germany needed and its relativly balanced too so you dont feel underpowered (looking at you F4-f ICE)
Yak-28- in a up-tier you have to make sure to get out of the furball as quick as possible or else you die, In a down-Tier you outrun EVERYTHING and you can outflare early missles and usinf chaff you can also ooutsmart early radar missles.
Ju288- My favorite plane IRL and also ingame. I’d say its really balanced but the game modes around it aren’t. I stopped playing it becsue Air-Realistic simply isnt fun anymore around 6.0 ever since they increased base spawn time to 5 minutes. but overall its what a fast bomber is supposed to be and if they ever add a TT version I think many people will also like it. probably my best investment into this game next to premium time. also i somehow have a positive K/D in it apparently and i have no idea how since i really suck at pvp
-Ki-43-1: workable top speed, decent climb rate, incredible maneuverability and agility. Even when all seems lost, its ability to turn and roll better than pretty much anything you’ll meet can turn a fight around in the blink of an eye. Relatively low on firepower with just two .50s, but both are right where you want them and have a generous ammo load.
-A7M2: much like the Ki-43-1, its huge wings give it an incredible turning ability, allowing you to quickly go from prey to predator even when facing superior enemies.
-Bf 109 E-4: extremely capable all around, nothing about it is really bad nor outstanding. A reliable fighter in almost any situation. The last actually maneuverable 109.
Props:
Yak-3P : Nimble, agile and very good guns, with good damage. I not like the russian planes, only the late yak-3 yak-9 variants fits my playstyle.
N1K2-J : Real all-rounder. Good in every aspect. No real weakness
A-21A-3: On paper, its a bad plane. But somewhat works in most situation. Good guns, good CAS and can dogfight
Jets.
Sea Hawk: Very underrated plane. Im sad because gaijin removed the german premium version. I want to get aim9b the tech tree version
Sagittario 2. real rat jet. When (maybe in 2043) this BR bracket will be decompressed, this and the ariete will be the kings of WT
Ayit. the only good jet in the israeli tree. maybe OP
JAS-39C Gripen, I play Sweden, its also an incredibly good fighter, manoverable + spamraams = god
J35XS, yeah so I like this one specifically because if you climb to like 4500 meters and IRST lock random unsuspecting players its like a free 4-5 kills a game.
F-16 (don’t care which version). its an F-16, I like the F-16 a ton because its overall extremely versatile.
Bf 109Es are the only thing I fear when flying Yak-7 XD
Yak-7s, 9s, 1Bs, it all ends the same way. One flaming wreck and one 109 flying onwards. It really is best in class.
Zeroes “can be” a little challenging with their speed and structure, but I love them particularly if Im in the mood to play a chess match. Good Luck mate
BTW, I will tell you a nice 8.7 jet that is fun, the Yak 23, reminds me of Zeroes…19 sec turn time, a little slow in top speed, but will stall people out in jets near the ground and cause them to crash…its a blast, you just have to stay aware, like Zero, because the little starter missiles, aim9s, are becoming more prevalent and you have the ability to turn and avoid their tiny g pull quite easily.
I like that perspective, lol I used to have a positive K/D ratio up until a year ago. Became very bored and have went back and looked for FUN planes to fly. Its not as though Im not trying to get airkills (because I fly fighters) it is just that I do not grind anymore and I do not look at my stat card all the time. My main goal in WT was to get the Ace Tag…after that, I have just been having fun flying Mosquito and the like. With the new test fields, I have spent a few hours at a time on them relaxing and flying strike jet aircraft and ground attacking. (because I dont get into tanks)
I have only two planes I really want now, Yak 141 and the BR 13.7 or so Mirage, when I get them I get them.
Im a WW2 vet grandchild and so I always liked airplanes as a kid, went to library got books on them…etc. And so you are right people are playing for different reasons.
Matter of fact I am going to fly my 410 tonight at some point Ive had one 95% modified now since about 2014 or so, yes indeed, that does sound fun making that thing work. Im playing this game for straight fun now, and I know Im no pro gamer.,currently working on being adept at notching fox3s, if I die so what, Ill be better in the long run.
Thank you for contributing.
At the moment-
3- MiG-29G
2- F-15A
1- Su-27
13.0 is just such a forgiving BR, with excellent aircraft with excellent armament and frequent downtiers, or at least rare max uptiers. And even then the aircraft you are facing have essentially the same FM , you’ve just got to worry about ARH. And 4th gens like these fly like a dream, just an overall amazing experience, especially coming from the chonky, sluggish MiG-23s and F-4s.
I would go for the F15e if I had “a choice” over the first two, simply because you are up into BR13 and not 12.7 right off the top. F15E is pretty respected at that BR for many different reasons.
However, I noticed the F15E is right after a 11.7 plane in the research tree, and so if you DONT have experience against fox 3 planes, it is a good learning curve. I dont know if you do or not.
However, if I went down the F16 or F15 path, thats a hard choice because the are both good and lead to the C version of both. But if I had to make a choice now, already having them…between those two…
F15A…first, and then go back to the Viper path. F15A when fully modified has 4 aim9ms, and 4 aim7ms. The F15A radar makes those aim7ms pretty dang good, especially for those who are used to flying with lower tier weaker radars like the Phantoms.
Without looking it has 200 and some countermeasures, great speed.
The F16A while great flight performance, has six aim9ls, which people are flaring off back at BR 10, and so you can imagine going against players who have good experience by BR12.7 with heavy calibur countermeasures… DEFYN, the hot crap pilot on YouTube, hates the F16A, the dude has 50,000 airkills and has to creep around in it, waiting like a Jackyl after the predators have finished. The ADF has radar missiles the A does not…The aim7ms in ADF are not as effective as the F15s same missile because it has a different radar…Thats just my opinion…F15E if you have that option, F15A first in the next two.
Now, once you have F16c viper, it is a beast at the end of the line.
Thank you, I think I will go for the F-15A since I personally like F-15, itll give me the learning curve I need before getting deep into fox 3 BR’s, and will familiarize me with the F-15 airframe
GL man!
Btw:
Ur mentioned P-51 C and Bf 109 G-2 in one match: Replay.
The P-51 tried to outrun me in the B7A2 and attacked lower 109s. I was a 25-35 km high speed chase at tree top level, my fellow 109s were too slow to catch the P-51. The last G-2 killed even his engine, but could not catch the P-51 - i flew my B7A2 with red engine temperature and was able to score decisive long range shots…
I will say this mate, I was just thinking while smoking a cig, getting ready to play.
I can take that F15A into uptiers where I have been the only couple of planes that didnt have Fox 3s, and I still get some airkills in it. That F15A radar makes all the difference with those aim7Ms. In a downtier its a beast. A lot of people dont realize, no matter how good the missile itself is, if you dont have a good radar, it doesnt matter
In the F16A, in an uptier with fox 3s, and you only have aim9Ls, you will be in the worst plane in the battle sorry to say…Like I said though, later down the road, the F16C right behind it, is great.
Thanks for participating.
LOL…I will watch that in a bit, Im getting ready to play now…
That was a very discerning comment you made earlier about peoples motives…I have life things going on right now, bills, student loans. blah blah
WT isnt the same priority it used to be to me in the BETA days, but it is still a BLAST , just in a different way.
I will definitely check that out, sounds fun, thank you. Just will be later when taking a break.
I got smoked by a dang XP 50 last night, because I was ground pounding in P51c at end of battle, had no energy, (he was last one left, we had 7 left). and because I had no energy, after all my efforts, Back to the Hanger! Will check that out, thank you.
Here is two versions of my F16C, one of of my F15A and one of the F15C, just depends on my mood lol:
I might start flying my Mig29 again, I laid off it for a while because the 12.7 aircraft were, at least I seemed to be, flying against fox 3, 8 out of every 10 battles, and to be honest, those r60ms werent doing it for me…but Im getting better at fox 3 defense, and you are right, the matchmaker has seemed to even out. Hell, if you are in an uptier, a mig29 not a bad plane to be in either. I will tell you what, Ive been liking my JF 17…Ive seemed to notice your turn time against fox 3s is very important, particularly if you have to get into a head on type engagement, to be able to turn away quickly into a notch.
Thank you for contributing mate,…its hard to pick out 3 isnt it?
