Your 3 Favorite Planes, with Explanation on 1

My 3 favorite planes are:
F5 Thai Fighter Japan
Mig 21 Bison
P51c 11 NT China:
I fly anything from props to F15c or F16c in a night…but during the holiday sales I decided to pick up the BR 3.7 Chinese P51 because I wanted a challenge. I have never been good in P51s. I dont know why, some mates SMASH in them, but we all fly differently Ive noticed since Beta.
I was always really good in Me 109s, ironically another boom and zoomer.
I will say mates, the P51c 11 NT is OP, it retains its speed like a Sabre, I can deploy the flaps at 500km/hr, it is everything I always wanted in a prop.
I can make a boom and zoom pass at enemy planes and then fly above them to bait them into coming up after me, and then in a shallow dive be right back up to 615 km/hr, much faster than most every plane at that BR. It doesnt start compressing until around 700 km/hr
You have to make a good approach with the 4 50cals…I have fallen in love with it, its FIRE.
What is your 3 favs and explanation for ONE mates?
You know you are in a good plane when an “uptier” is NOTHING.

Su-27/J11
It’s funny to kill F-14 or premium/event fox3 slingers at long range by abusing DL with “stealthy” R-27ER’s. And very strong dogfighters if you have some R-73 left.

Rafale
Able to be sneaky with its incredibly good IRST at top tier and micas are the best missiles at high PK ranges.

F-16 (any)
I just love the design, already spaded 6 of them

  1. Ayit (no explanation necessary)
  2. I-15 (turns the best in the game)
  3. MiG-3-34
The MiG-3-34 has double 20 mm autocannon as an armament, both mounted in the nose which gives them insane accuray. Those ShVAKs do a lot of damage, and you have lots of ammo, not that it matters since the guns are rather accurate and deadly on hit. The speed is absolutely amazing for 2.7, the maneuverability is also good or decent, the thrust-to-weight is great and the climb rate raises question like “man, why is this at 2.7?” and “do these poor guys even stand a chance?”.
But the main thing is the crazy SURVIVABILITY. This tiny interceptor is like an Il-2 Shturmovik but as a super-fast fighter, it can lose a wing and fly, it can lose the tail and fly, have the engine red and fly and look like Swiss Cheese and fly. It is unbelievably powerful, I used it to gring USSR ranks 2-3 back in the day.
I actually made a video about it, you can watch it here → https://youtu.be/Tmy5H0TVKGA?si=miwG922LF9OOoq1Z

Then you need to meet the Ki-27

JAS39A Gripen - Big sexy front canards, and the best standard 4th generation jet of all time

AJS37 Vigg - Not this specific model, but; First fighter jet with a fully equipped, yet redundant flight computer, named SK-37, also, big sexy canards

J35J ‘Johan’ Draken - “Final” evolution of the Kite-Dragon, fitted with an Hughes N71 IRST unit, AIM-9P-3’s, AIM-4, AIM-26B, two extra pylons under the air intakes, and a centerline fuel tank pylon

3 planes:

SM 92
B-18B
B7A2

I fly exclusively WW 2 planes in Air RB and all 3 planes fly very stable (SM 92 is not really stable, but it is manageable) with a HOTAS (=no head-ons due to lack of accuracy vs mouse aim) and excel with good to excellent turn, good to very good high alt performance, good to very good high speed handling, air brake and have the “one pass is a kill” ability.

In addition all of them are able fight the myriads of Premium plane spammers (Wyvern and XP-50, and recently Yak-3 at 4.0) quite effectively and get better when flying in a full uptier as the turn advantage increases as my enemies get faster but less nimble.

A final word to your P-51 C:

Untiered, 4.3 plane but the c+p approach by gaijin allows several nations to have it as premium at Rank III whilst the majority of their users are rookies in the US TT (at Rank II) which keeps the BR artificially too low.

The plane is a snack for my SM 92 as most P-51 Cs forget that their main strength is the initial high speed turn, the key to win is just to stay out of their guns for the first 2 turns, the sustained turn of the SM 92 is way better.

How does the P-61C-1 fly/fare?

Me too man, I just love to look at the F16 sometimes…The F16A not really good with aim9ls at its BR, but I take it out occasionally to see what I can do with it, the ADF more successful with radar aim 9Ms…well done mate I love a sneaky plane LOL

Whew, the Ayit is straight gunfire at its BR
Thank You, I like to see other players perspectives, that is indeed a good plane. Hmmm, will have to check out Mig 3 34

Wow, I will have to check that out.

Thank you for your reply…fortunately for me I am a Levell 100 pilot with that P51 in my hands LOL, and you are right, I dont often look at player cards because that doesnt always mean anything, but in that plane and BR I will, I will attack low level pilots in the P51 because they do not know how to use it. Its really OP for its BR.
Hmmm…you have some interesting planes listed Uncle J., Wick, thank you for your perspective mate.
I see a lot of B7A2s in battle, I have never flown a straight bomber in 13 years of playing, but I have crew points in four countries maxed out (the first four countries), I may check that out.
Thank you so much for your perspective, that’s interesting.
One I didn’t list and Im going about the topic I suggested…The German G2 trop, its a real killer and I feel very confident in it against anything.
I will have to watch out for you LOL

P61s seem kind of heavy to me mate,…I never really liked them. They have a good armament but they compress very easily and if you are in a bad situation and someone has gotten “on your six”, they are hard to get out of a bad situation in.
But look, everybody flies differently, If you think you can do well in it then go for it, I like Zeros for instance and make them work…everybody is different. That is my opinion on the P61, flies like a semi truck bus to me.
Good Luck Mate, thank you for participating.

Is that the Chaika? wow , that thing is fire

I have the premium Draken. I havent flown it much but have started to here lately, if flown well I can see that someone that flies it a lot, and familiar with it, it can be a real beast.
It has good AoA…yeah Thank You Mate
LOL you all give me something to think about going into a battle, everyone likes there different planes and flying them because they are confident in that plane and not just grinding.
Thank You

You know I have no controls set up for my rudder, but I use the elevator a lot.
If you want to see an interesting interview, check out Saburo Sakai, the great Japanese ace.
That dude flew a 800 mile running battle with 35 Hellcats and made it back to his base at Rabaul I think it was. Lost an eye, got shot in the leg
He has some wow comments on the Zero, uses his rudder to go up and above planes and then the amazing acceleration in a close fight…Very interesting mate on YouTube,
Thank You for all your info, youre a good pilot in WT

Decent climb rate and speed, you get an air spawn, decent maneuverability for its size, funny turret on top which is neat when someone is following you and you just dive down and keep straight level while spaying them with the turret so they can’t follow you no more.

Plays a bit like the wyvern, but instead of running away from everyone you try to keep them away with your turret. Early game go intercept bombers, then just do support role or even ground pound. Keep your speed up always.

Hidden as imho off-topic:

Imho the fellow player @RideTheWaveDude and @HighRiskNoReward summed it up quite nicely. I flew the P-61 years ago on an inactive account and it needed a very specific (and rather boring) play style to make them work against anything outside 4 engine bomber.

You see every few hundred matches a guy playing it to it full potential (which includes stall fights / scissors whilst using the turret), but those players can be neutralized (occupying them / taking them out of the team fight) even with a B-18B if you know what you are doing.

The main weakness is that you need MEC to protect your engines and the very limited time you can fly inverted (in order to shoot at guys zoom climbing behind and below you).

Imho the only plane in which your gunner (if you have an aced plane and maxed crew) is able to steal kills from you as a player :-)

  • fun flight performance at a good BR. Uptiers arent too horrible. Missile count sucks but it makes up for it being so good to look at in Air RB.
  1. Mig-21mf
  • at its BR, it just has a little bit of everything. Great plane to learn early upper tier on.
  1. J7E
  • PL-5’s catch many off guard since theyre fast and barely burn, flight performance is very good at its BR although it used to be even better.

Most top tiers currently play very similar imo. Just slightly different missile characteristics and RWRs but i feel like most top tiers are carbon copies of each other. Not saying its not fun at times but RB really needs a rework or some new game modes.

Here’s my 3 most favorite planes:

A-4N Ayit

Bf.109 G-14/AS

Pokryshkin’s P-39N-0

And here’s some words about the last plane:

I really like Airacobra’s in general, but this is my most favorite. It have better flight performance due less weight, ammo is very limited, but it’s so satisfying when your shots hit the enemy.
