F4S = Slats, HMD, better fox1s
Not enough over the british for it to go 11.7?

British F-4 other than J(UK) are 11.3…
MB - didnt see “sim” tag.
Maybe your IR missile locked a flare before launch?
Nope, I had the plane locked the whole time, he only noticed right when I fired, and a moment later the R-73 went for a flare, even with a hard ir lock.
I’m telling you, they aren’t as good as they are cracked up to.
Which plane was it? What distance and aspect was your shot? I’ve flared magic 2’s from rear aspect and very close ranges, like 1km away, with the F-16 by pulling negative G’s and flaring with the throttle down.
Su-27SM, partially side, mostly rear, under .75 mile distance. It probably pulled like 8-12 gs off the rail.
In my Su-39, I’ve literally fired at aircraft, in rear aspect that never throttled down, or flared, they weren’t any further than 1 mile distance, but the R-73 still missed.
Having used both R-73s and Aim-9M, I much much prefer the 9m
Under ideal circumstances, gatewidth is essencially 100% reliable in my experience (against randoms). The 9M not so much since it’s much easier to flare from rear aspect by just spamming flares and rolling away.
Usually I prefeer any gatewidth missile over 9Ms but for sim the reduced smoke has its advantages so I can’t argue.
Hard to flare, when you can’t see if something is coming lol. You either dump 1/4 of your allotted Soviet flare count on a whim something may be coming.
Or the enemy doesn’t think you’ve fired at all and boom they’re gone.
Yeah, but at least you have a much higher chance to flare seeker shutoff IRCCM, with gatewidth at short ranges rear aspect, doesn’t really matter if you have 0 or 999 flares. You are going down more likely than not.
For sim I can see the reduced smoke making a big difference, for RB it doesn’t matter since you have a red diamond in any spotted missile that has an active booster. If I played sim I would probably favour the 9M like you.
Doesn’t only the 9M have IOG though?
It should be ban worthy to intentionally spread misinformation like this tbh. Get this slop off the platform.
I think the ones with seeker shutoff (9M) do. But the others like the R-73 wouldnt make any use of the IOG, they either track the correct target (engine) or get distracted by a flare if any happen to get in between the small FOV. IOG wouldn’t make a difference there
My experience in now mis information? Lmao…. Honestly no, they just need to let the Soviet players run everything apparently, I have yet to meet a Soviet player as crazy as the rest of you lot.

I was more or less referring to magics and Matras, pythons, etc.
Only seeker shutoff makes use of IOG since it starts guiding by IOG everytime it detects a flare and shuts the seeker off.
That’s why they are easily avoidable even at rear aspect, but due to how flare patterns work, they work better from side aspects since its harder to get away from the seeker when the missile is coming from the side than rear or front.
In that case it’s best to either turn into or away from the missile and then start flaring + changing direction
Lmao
I was rear aspect to an A-10C, in my Su-39, jammer and all, and his aim-9m somehow got a lock at 80% throttle on me, and he fired and it slammed into me.
My experience in now mis information?
Yes. You are directly contradicting established known fact because your feelies (constantly wrong feelies) tell you that you think it’s different.
Can you prove I’m wrong? No? Hmm. That sounds like mis-information. I could take currently plenty of clips where an R-73 misses on a shot it should land.
Do you hear yourself
Specifically:

Do you really think you’re that educated on the matter? Cause I know you aren’t.
