Many MANY “accidental” teamkills aren’t accidental, they are due to negligence, not being careful enough and are entirely avoidable. Sure, accidents do happen, but there is no chance that actual accidents happen often enough to cause a ban.
If you get yourself a manual teamkill ban you have most definitively teamkilled on purpose multiple times during a relatively short period of time. Not to mention getting yourself an entire weeks ban.
Sadly this is going to be one of those “Trust me bro” moments as i cannot share any behind the scenes information.
But what i can say is that every single player i have seen complaining about getting banned for “accidental teamkills” so far has in fact intentionally teamkilled on multiple occasions. While anecdotal it should at least tell you something that i have without exaggeration seen zero undeserved teamkill bans thus far.
If I’m sitting ~0.4m behind a bandit and a friendly suddenly zoom-climbs in between us as I’m firing - it’s probably not my fault if they come from below in ASB because I havn’t got eyes there. (I’ve been the zoomclimber before in furballs).
If you’re chasing an enemy and get tunnel-visioned and the enemy makes a hard break turn or even just rolls and you roll with them and crash into a friendly… that’s probably your fault, but it’s not the most serious case of negligence because both of you are equally at fault for sitting on someone’s tail like that. Sometimes this credits TK, sometimes this doesn’t.
Then there’s the typical IFF issues in ASB. Culpability is mostly dependent on how riddled with copy paste the lobby is. Flying germany/russia and seeing a P-38 coming head-on, you’d think you can open fire before 1 km and before blue name tags appear because it’s a bloody p-38, only america flies such! Then you learn it’s chinese and get a teamkill credit, and you felt so proud for landing a 1km shot…
If I come in from above and see a friendly chasing a bandit and start shooting and hit my friendly - that’s entirely my fault and while it’s “accidental”, such behavior needs to be punished. Why greed?
If you come in head-on onto a bandit running away with a buddy on their tail, why open fire? You’ve a high chance of hitting your friendly and killing them. (I actually got a recording of this sort of “accidental” tk!). Why greed?
I don’t really fly missile thunder, but I have seen cases when I do that there’s 2 people dogfighting with ~2 km separation and someone from way out shoots a missile into that crowd because IFF said there’s an enemy. Technically it’s accidental, but you are fully culpable for your actions. Why greed?
Or you see a friendly chasing a bandit and you shoot an IR missile from behind both of them. Even if your missile doesn’t go for the friendly, its blast radius ends up hitting your friendly. You’re culpable for this. Your friendly had the situation controlled - why greed?
a solid 90% of all the times I’ve been teamkilled (excluding by squadmates dicking around) are all intentional because I either got the frag they were trying to steal or because of what aircraft I’m in.
Teamkills should be done away with once and for all, excl bomb teamkills as that would be absurd if you just levelled an area with a Lancaster and all your dudes just shrug that off
this 100% works for a Fox 1 like a Sparrow, but I play top tier and once my 120s go off the rail it’s out of my control, same goes for IR guided missiles, especially when those kill hungry little rats swoop in out of nowhere and the missile changes lock. Cases like that happen very frequently with absolutely no remedy
And this would be a valid argument if it were consistent throughout game modes, Ground RB and Naval RB don’t have friendly fire, they removed it from ground because teamkilling was so frequent, and that begs the question as to why they don’t do the same for Air. Sim Battles are different as that is as realistic as it gets and Friendly Fire seems like a given, but in Realistic Battles, it really isn’t that realistic compared to Simulator battles.
Well then that completely eliminates the point of BVR. When I’m using the F-14 and fire a phoenix from 40km away, sure at the time I was ahead of my team, but the phoenix travels so slow my teammates outrun it. And not to mention maps are getting larger to make room for longer range missiles, on a large map people are literally everywhere, and if a missile loses PD lock and is evaded it will track the people 5 km behind the enemy, this happened to me like an hour ago. Teamkilling is an unnecessary “feature”, gaijin implements it in the game for “realism” but strictly prohibits it. It’s an overall stupid feature. If Friendly Fire can be removed from ground it can be removed from Air too.
I feel there should be a system at the ends of matches (the reward screen once the match formally ends, not by leaving early) where somebody that was teamkilled can decide whether or not to penalize somebody.
It’s cool to see quick chat binds like “Sorry for teamkill!” and “I accept apology for teamkill!”, but I feel it would be far better for people to decide after the match is over:
“This guy killed me on purpose, he deserves to pay the penalty for killing me”
“This guy killed my accidentally, I’ll let him pass on paying penalty”
For people that TK.
I have only had an aim54 teamkill maybe once or twice. Maybe 6 or so times for other ARH. Im not sure of the launch parameters you are firing at where teamkilling is happening enough for you to worry about tripping the ban.
Its to prevent gameplay from further devolving.
As long as they actively punish those doing it on purpose, it should be added back ground rb.
I think they should focus on dealing with bad people rather than taking things away because of them.
just got teamkilled when im writing this
this guy is pathetic as hell, i dogfight an IL-28 and this guy is like 2km behind and shooting the IL-28, i kill the IL-28 and this guy catch up to me and immediately shooting at me and ramming me
he die too
and then he throw slurs in my dms and block me
hes level 50
insane
Teamkilling is important because the title of the mode is “Realistic Battle” It’s realistic for a missile to get a lock on a friendly, especially if you fire it like a greedy idiot at a target within close proximity to a friendly
Even with a life, I still have enough free time to log on and at least collect a daily bonus, especially since it’s my favourite game.
That’s just it though, it doesn’t need to be fired near a friendly when a kill hungry little vulture swoops in to get the kill as my missile is closing in.
Yeah, I’m not saying it happens often or so, but with the AIM-54A it’s happened a few times, the AIM-120 on the other hand is like a communist sleeper agent in BVR. BVR is a tricky thing to avoid teammates in as the teammates are headed towards the same targets as your missiles but you have no way of knowing who or when to shoot to avoid it.
