You’re the one saying about the MG not being able to reach up that high, where it wasn’t for that… And SPAA is there for a reason… Hence why it is part of the discussion.
Still if You fail at destroying the said air it means nothing how many times You are going to spawn.
Air is more effective against the air and that is just a fact. No matter if You spawn one air unit or 3 spaas, if You are unable to do anything about the air then You failed.
You are the one who started talking about losing 500 SP without gaining anything, I just follow Your own logic.
Frankly such a mode sounds like its purpose was merely to reduce plane usage to instead see whether or not the basic tank mechanics of such a mode worked well or not…which they didn’t. Defending team had too much of an advantage.
Raising SP costs doesn’t address the awful game mechanics encouraging revenge bombing.
Raising SP costs doesn’t make the counters to CAS any more useful or available - it actually does the opposite in both respects.
Raising SP costs doesn’t give CAS anything else to do which might give it a healthy purpose in the mode.
If you seriously consider THAT to be “problem solved, GG,” then we have nothing more to discuss.
You’ll spawn once with your plane, get shot down then sit back because you have no SP left…
Where someone who doesn’t care about dying as much as you will keep spawning SPAA because they know they can actually do things no matter the statchecks you do…
At least you are consistant…
They did.
Many played the mode and enjoyed it, but gaijin as it likes with other modes just don’t care about it.
If You fail You will get shot down, same happens if You spawn in SPAA (no matter how many times).
In air unit, You have much more chance to actually deal with the said problem, not to say 'I have tried but failed anyway, but I got an assist against a tank!".
It is not because this was initial post
No SPAA was mentioned. So any addition to this comparission is goal posts moving.
And it served it purpose. Gameplay was very immersive, CAS was still effective but scarse as it should be.
It’s very much a reason to ensure that people do spawn SPAA, knowing that the air threat will introduce itself.
You’re literally going to be on the field fingers in ears ‘na na na’ to drown out the cries of the team…
It being rarely present is not “effective” at all. That only satisfies your hatred of being bombed by making it absent entirely or damn close, nothing else.
As I said before its true but irrelevant to this initial comparrison. I also warnerd poster that he tricked himself with comparrison he posted.
I seen that warning and it was really dumb… You’re trying to gatekeep and fixate on the point made to avoid any others…
So your deffinition of effectiveness is sheer numbers which is wrong.
Rarely present =/= ineffective. Some vehicles are rarely present yet they are effective.
In my experience, I think the biggest issue with CAS is the way ground RB handles spawning.
Namely: You need to die to change to a new vehicle.
This means if you are flying CAP without good bombs for the vehicle type, you’re useless after wiping out enemy CAS and just hope for an open top vehicle to hunt.
This means if you notice the enemy is flying out a lot of CAS, you cannot react to it until you die.
This means after you SPAAG CAS out of the sky, you’re useless.
Also, there’s no tracker on spawn of what your teamamtes are preparing to spawn, so you can over-spawn CAP while waiting to respawn because nobody communicates (except italian ARB. they’re cool).
In Air RB, you can land and slap some rockets/bombs on your plane if enemy is spaceclimbing to win by tickets. You cannot RTB and swap to SPAAG from your tank destroyer without losing your td.
Maybe dumb to you but relevant to initial comparrison. And yes it should stop adding new variables to discussion as it changes whole premise of initial comparrision.
It just enforces the entrenchment that comes from these sorts of threads.
That’s all.
This is something that could be an interesting thought.
Somehow, have the roles displayed in volume, of currently spawned, and previously spawned. Maybe even have proportions of players lineups being shown as to what they have.
Well this is how discussion works. If you add anything new which changes initial premise its new and different discussion but its still irrelevant to initial one.
Thing is, it comes back to why people don’t think CAS is that much of a problem.
You’ve got SPAA, use it. There are counters to it.
And as I said that is true but it changes inital premise so its a different discussion.
I stopped playing Realistic because SPAA are not nearly effective enough - at least up to BR 6.0 anyway - those that rely on cannons.
Very hard to track and hit CAS with many of the SPAAs. And once you shoot and miss, you’ve announced your presence and will die shortly.
If you want more people to get back to realistic, there needs to be tweaks to the SPAA with cannons more effective. CAS needs to fear they will be taken down more often than they currently are.
