you gotta manuver to get on there tail to get that fox-1 kill which is ACM or by exstention dogfighting

from my experince playing mig 23MLA i rarely every engauge anyone at distance i force close range fights
r24rs are better at range in my experience. 10km shots are 90% of my kills, as for r60ms theyre pretty terrible in dogfights because of how easy they are to flare, so i mostly use them for quick ambushes and it works decent
i use r24R to survive the merge R60mks arent best dogfight missiles but are far more preferable over the 9G for dogfights
r60ms arent good at dogfights either, and theyre pretty bad for ambushes cause of their low ranges, 9g are great at ambushes because of how long range they are, 4 9gs have much more potential for impact than 4 r60ms. if you think f4j and mig23 are equal its likely because youre playing f4j wrong, theyre very different aircraft.

F4-J speclizes in longer range combat thats it missile bus you sit at distance and fire missiles ive used R60MK and its a short range high manuveribility missile good for close quarters fights 9G is a ranged FOX–1 missile you launch it at targets 3 miles plus and its long range it hits cause the burners off
MIG-23 can do both long and ACM fights F4-J can only do Long range fights
f4j is much better at long range, mig 23m has only 2 r24rs after that its much weaker. f4j has 8 great missiles.
you need to play the f4j more
yeah but mig-23 is a jack of all trades which is far mor favorble in todays climate
only thing hinders mig 23 is radar not being able to manual switch modes
The F-4J has just 4 IR missiles that can only seek planes if u launch them from the back, and the 4 radar missiles aren’t that good, i almost never died by AIM-7F, and if i died by them it was cuz i didn’t nottice it.
It isn’t that good, and it lacks in maneuverability, and its very normal to shred ur own wings when turning at high speeds.
to be fair ive never ripped wings in phantoms
aim9gs are much better than r60ms. and aim7f are also very good and you get 4.

everything has trade offs
kinda is when you fight mostly planes that can get you in CQC which your often forced into cause of lack of teams
