F-5A is significantly worse than the F-5E flight performance wise
its a sidegrade, not an upgrade, nothing unfair about that

9P with 9L seeker but same Flight performance and overload as 9P
P5 is the same with 9M seeker
both are Noticably worse than 9L and M respectively

Closer comparison is r60m, both are all aspect fox 2s with very little range and extremely little flare resistance, r60m pulls significantly more though
I dont think thats a Close Comparison at all because what Makes R60 an R60 is that you get twice as many per pylon and they do 30G
AIM-9P4/5 do neither, they’re just mediocre all aspect missiles
It’s definitely the closest comparison ingame they have pretty much the same engagement envelope with the only difference being high aspect side shits the P4 cannot do and sit at similar brs,
Yes and no.
R60s have better flight characteristics but the P4s have some semblance of flare rejection.
(Less about ignoring the targets flares and more about ignoring other stray heat sources in the area)

Ngl flare rejection on non irccm missile is a mystical concept, I’ve had r60ms ignore flares and I’ve had aim9ls ignore flares, both do not do It anywhere near consistently and I would trust either to not change target to missiles.

they play completely diffrently, R-60M is a Perfect Surprise and Headon Merge Missile
9P4 is good for Rear aspect Dogfights
It’s basically a multiplier in the code.
I can’t remember the real numbers but the way it works will be a 9L will perceive a flare with 0.8x it’s heat while an R60 would see 1.2x (Not the real values)
Edit: I completely forgot FOV is also the major factor here lol. The R60s field of view is just massive so there’s a larger cone Infront of the missile where it could be distracted by a flare
Of course because gaijin keeps just shuffling down the performance of the old top tier to make the new top tier look like a massive step up, the actual effectiveness of the rejection has decreased significantly so the gap isn’t that much these days.

P4s are more stable in flight so are better at intercepting missiles too
This is absolutely true and incredibly annoying, all non irccm missiles are terrible against flares these days, and thy love changing targets to other missiles

L take and massive skill issue
Evrey non IRCCM missile can reliably be one flared if you cut your afterburner for a sec.
And the F-5 is just a one trick pony, don’t enter a dogfight with it, it legitimately can do nothing against an enemy who runs… do exactly how you would defeat a Zero in a P-47 (please don’t tell me you dogfight with zeroes…)
