Transferring the F-14 to 12.7-13.0, nerf AIM-54 or taking them out of the game!

A good F-14A Pilot should in my mind consider this flaw, and fly accordingly

I would let loose the Phoenixes, remain hot until they are almost into pitbull range, then turn 90 degrees and dive to lower altitudes and thicker air.

there seem to be a lot of people who have gotten so used to the crutch of just hugging the ground, that they have completely forgotten how to dodge phoenixes and even other SARH missiles, since its now just back to how it was before they changed the meta to the tree trimming one.

You dont really need in wt ranges

The funny thing is when I’m in F-14A, quite often I see the enemy flying straight up against the AIM-54A and being sent back to the hangar, even though they are in an F-14B.

I’ve been killed by F-14A’s and when that happens i know the missile is coming, but more than likely was a radar issue where the thing goes nuts and cant get a lock on anything, or does the tom cat shuffle where it locks on to a different target than what i have locked. At that point i just dont care and wait to go to the hanger. trying to use the 54’s at closer ranges can be done, but its a pain with the slow accelerating 54. I could dumb the load, but there are so many key binds and i hardly use that function cant remember it in the small instances i could actually use it.

I understand the resentment about the 27ER, but that’s another topic. In this context, the conditions are worse… on the one hand, 27ER and AIM-7M, which should be controlled by radar, and on the other hand, ARH…

The ARH missiles are far easier to defeat, the real problem lies in how easy it is to force multiple people to go defensive. Regardless, that has nothing to do with my comment.

No, the AIM-54A should be dead only if the supporting aircraft is killed, or it loses TWS lock of the target and 30 seconds pass.
