Transferring the F-14 to 12.7-13.0, nerf AIM-54 or taking them out of the game!

Statistically speaking, we’ll agree on most things.

I know how to dodge them.

They’re still annoying. They still force you to play defensive. They still allows the F-14 pilot to take zero risk as he spam them from 5km unbothered and score easy kills. The F-14 still absolutely overperform at its current BR by every metric.

How hard it is to admit that, currently, F-14A and F-14B are by far the best plane of 11.7 and 12.0 BR and they deserves to be uptiered ?

Ever flown the F-14? R-27ERs are the biggest threat for it.

Also the new AMRAAM carriers can easily defeat F-14B

If you’re bad with the F-14, maybe.

Also, you can just dodge the ER and Aim120, after all you see them coming too. Isn’t it your whole argument ?

My point is that if someone launches R-27ER first then you are gonna die. AIM-54 takes some time to hit the target.
R-27ER doesn’t have as big smoke trail as the AIM54

Its your team’s fault for not being able to shoot the F-14s down. Fly at 100-50m above ground then you dont need to play defensive. Also there’s nothing wrong with playing defensive, its not a fps game.

The 27ER will never be launched first if you know what you are doing with the 14B.

You have a better radar, a better RWR, a FAR better TWS and you should start by sideclimbing. No Mig is ever having the drop on you if your positioning doesn’t suck.

The 54 will splash you if you hug the deck. It’s not a viable option.

By the time you will reach a decent altitude to launch AIM54 most of the targets wont be flying straight anymore. AIM54 struggles to hit anything that is maneuvering and flying low.

Chaffing and turning works fine. Fly low and use your chaff.

The easiest way to avoid getting hit by AIM-54s is, believe it or not, notching, going cold, or using your team mates.

Notching is when an aircraft – that is locked on by a radar missile – turns 90° perpendicular to the enemy’s missile, drawing an imaginary T. The player aircraft should also pop chaff and use geographical features to their benefit, such as ducking and weaving behind hills (or staying behind a massive rock formation, as seen most obviously with “rocky pillars”).

Going cold is when an aircraft will turn 180°, running away from the missile that is heading towards them. This is also generally accompanied with additional evasive maneuvers to kill the missile’s energy and often accompanied with chaff.

If neither notching or going cold works; you can always lure the missile to your team mates. I assume, based off of OP’s inability to be able to properly dodge one of the goofiest missiles in the game, that they are generally a base bomber. No disrespect to ya, but since you’re gonna be base bombing, might as well throw a few more team mates under the bus. The moment that you start getting the “MSL” lock on your RWR, turn towards your other fellow base bombing blueberries and let the AIM54 go pitbull on them.

Hope this helps!

Flying straight and low while chaffing works as well. I have dodged many AIM-54s that way.

AIM54A and C model has same airframe so, it should be dual plane.

But not same autopilot

As far as I know, the AIM-54A should instantly destroy itself if it loses radar lock from the F-14 before the missile locks on to its target.

Destroy not, but maybe seeker works difference from wt

From another post, but still true here too:
If you can’t evade aim-54, then you need much more training on top tier. Its not that hard. Notching, multi direction (change directions) flying, well placed chaff, running cold, evasive maneuvers, teammates (ok, this would be hard…) all works. Even Gaijin made a video for that. But no… you don’t use those options, you just: NERF the aim 54 and tomcats!!!

It doesn’t matter how ineffective Phoenixes are; their job is not to get kills, but rather force the enemy team to break up, go defensive, and give up positioning which in turn gives their team an advantage.

I find this funny, f-14A’s not paying attention as they were spamming lol

To be fair, if you launched 54s against F-14A at 50km, most F-14A player doesn’t dodge it because RWR tells nothing from your radar lock even it was hard lock and it hits the target when your AIM-54’s motor finishes burning
