I recall the author of this issue mentioned that while the original loading mechanism can fire Chinese rounds, the shape of sabot has to be modified so that two APFSDS rounds may be placed adjacent (otherwise they would bump into each other).
This utility model patent discloses a sabot for a 125mm tank gun fin-stabilized discarding sabot armor-piercing projectile. The sabot is fastened to the flying projectile body (1) by a fastening ring. The outer surface of the front centering part (2) of the sabot has three mutually symmetrical protrusions (3) with an outer diameter of 125mm. The outer diameter of the outer surface of the front centering part of the sabot is 90-100mm. The axial length of the windward groove (4) in the front cavity of the front centering part of the sabot is 42-47mm. The inner diameter of the windward groove (4) in the front cavity of the front centering part of the sabot is 92-94mm. The 125mm armor-piercing projectile equipped with this sabot can adapt to different loading mechanisms of the 125mm tank gun series without any impact on the armor-piercing power and ballistic performance of the projectile.
Hi, Unfortunately your comment has mentioned WW2 political parties and discussing the chinese community being unhappy in general so it’s been removed for that reason.
Whilst it is of course your right as a player to vent your concern, Mentions of war crimes / politics is not something to be discussed on the forum. This thread is about the Vehicles only And i’m afraid you chose to ignore your own disclaimer by involving certain agendas.
If you wish to comment on the thread, Then please stick to the vehicles and nothing more :)
Thank you for your clarification. It has been years since I’ve used the forum so I do apologise for the misuse of this thread.
I do however standby my disclaimer - I am not trying to push a certain agenda as the “only correct one”. From what I’ve observed there are a considerable amount of misunderstandings (as well as radical individuals) on both sides. So my goal is not so much “venting” as it is to share some of the sentiments I’ve heard in the Chinese community to those willing to listen, whilst also listening to what others have to say and later sharing it with those in the community who are non-english speaking.
Is there anywhere on the forum where this would be appropriate? Or would it be best to have this sort of discussion somewhere else, such as Reddit?
Thanks,

You can post in the CN national communties section to voice a concern if you prefer to communicate in chinese, As this thread is mainly for the vehicles itself. But there’s no place on the forums for discussion on politics / past wars and countries involvement.
However if the post is just going to lead to talks which involve anything political then it would be closed and or deleted as it breaks the forums guidelines.
I believe there’s already a few threads in the CN community area linked above discussing the vehicle and japan, But as i’m not fluent in that area i cannot say for certain.
Reddit has it’s own rules and is not moderated by ourselves, So i cannot speak on behalf of reddit.
You can find the message button by clicking on a users profile and it will give an option to message in the top right area.
Feel free to do this if you need any more info, Cheers.
Exactly. Double standards. Also you already can put japanese decals on chinese vehicles because of the non-restrictions for national decals except only roundels for some reason. This jap decals on thai vehicles argument is empty. If you’re against it, then wouldn’t it be better to go suggest decals become more nation restricted?
and your point is? people always use decals, flags etc. to show their love for that particular faction or trigger another. such is life. chinese have to deal with it and carry on. just because someone has some virtual flag on a virtual vehicle it is not the end of the world.
you can always ignore them altogether and carry on after all. it’s not like they tie your hands and force you to watch it all day.
Hearing about the main complaints here, I feel like there is some very easy changes that can be made to help with the issue without negatively affecting either side of this conflict.
First off would be introducing Thai crew voices before the Thai VT-4. Since a big issue is the idea of a Japanese VT-4, this can help reinforce that the tank is not Japanese, but Thai. Thai crew voices will appear eventually anyways, so this should not be an issue to make.
It doesn’t take anything away since a Japanese crewed VT-4 is not an intended thing anyways, and the crew is meant to be Thai.
Then there is the decal issue, where I believe it is probably worth avoiding the controversy by assigning Thai vehicles with their own national tag in the decals section (like many other nations already have) to prevent Japanese decals. Once again nothing historical is taken away, and this is not unprecedented either.
If players do want this level of customization they would need to use custom camouflages that don’t show for other players, the same they would need to do to have Japanese symbols on Chinese tech tree vehicles.
I think this is not the right way of looking at it.
Thailand as a nation should not be seen as anywhere less than Japan. They have their own national identity, and military and the subtree connection should be seen as more of a collaborative arrangement of equals rather than a subordinate nation to another.
Though Gaijin is very bad at establishing such relations, already starting with the techtrees being represented by just one name and flag.
This is not exclusive to subtrees, but also nations that went through multiple identities or splits like Germany (German Empire, Nazi Germany, East Germany, West Germany) and the USSR (USSR, Russia) show this, but since subtrees don’t descent from the same nation this becomes far more obvious.
So I believe this is less of an issue with the Thai bought VT-4, but with Gaijins management of subtrees in general.
In my honest opinion, this is truly not the way you should be seeing this. No one is saying China is under Japan or Thailand is under Japan. Thailand just fits in Japan’s tree historically. It just so happens that in real life Thailand choose to purchase VT4.
Just like the 545 tank issue, there isn’t any deeper meaning into this. Thailand bought it, and Thailand is a Japanese ally, which puts Thailand as the Japan sub-tree.
A more accurate analogy would be to consider how players would feel if Japan’s modern Type 10 tank, a clear symbol of its national military technology, was placed within the Chinese tech tree for any reason. The developer’s intention might be purely gameplay-driven, but the perceived symbolic subordination would understandably cause frustration.
The intent isn’t to create conflict, but to highlight that the tech tree’s organization isn’t just a neutral list; it carries symbolic weight. The placement of the VT-4 under Japan, even indirectly, feels similarly disrespectful to Chinese players because it symbolically subordinates a point of national pride within the framework of a historical adversary.
Perhaps a better solution would be to create a more neutral Southeast Asian sub-tree in the future, rather than tying everyone to old wartime alliances. This would allow for the inclusion of vehicles like the VT-4 without causing unnecessary friction.
You made an analogy with Type 10, however that is a domestic tank that is supposed to be used only by domestic operator (Japan) as it cannot be transferred anywhere, even the US if we are that deadass, because thats what reality says.
VT-4, in contrast, is an export vehicle that was supposed to be used by foreign operators, and it happens that Thailand is one of them. I still can’t get over that one comment I saw on forum that called Thailand “another China” because otherwise VT-4 would not be exported there and thus Thai vehicles shall be in Chinese TT.
And people bringing up things like UA and Soviet TT also make little sense. I don’t want to do that here again as well, but one thing is what was going on “back then”, and the other is “what is going on right now”, and game is clearly defined around “what is going on right now”, thus VT-4 drama is drama made not by anyone but those who still think game is based on “back then”
