I don’t think we need to discuss politics to justify something that a majority of Korean players don’t want. This is the target audience for the Korean nation in-game, so they should take a priority in the decision.
And as it was said before, Japan has alternative options. Thailand is already in game, nations like Indonesia and the Philippines could make for likely options in the future. There is no need to upset a part of the playerbase to achieve something that can already be done another way.

If this the case then we shouldn’t has any problems with this, VT-4 is operated by Thailand IRL and Thailand is gonna become a Japan subtree in game so Thai’s VT-4 adding to Japan shouldn’t be a issue
I really wouldn’t like to answer more, but it’s not politics. People want a nation in the game. It’s added to the one it makes most sense to be with just regarding the factors and a quick background. Some people didn’t want Hungary to Italy, but it went explicitly because it was a minor axis nation. Not because of complex politics.
Nothing alike. They might have been part of them during USSR, but not anymore. You’re making too big of a deal over the VT-4. It’s an export tank that another nation bought. Basically most players are fine with it, even those who mainly play DE/US/USSR even if their export tanks are elsewhere.
If Thailand had local variants and a lot of them to choose from, I would frankly agree they wouldn’t need it. But that’s not the case for them.
There is some popular suggestions that were made by Indonesian and Filipino players about such subtrees or their vehicles. So by that, what I’ve heard from Indonesian/Filipino players and the reactions I’ve seen to the recent Indonesian Mi-35 leak these seem to be seen positively.

Go to any Indonesian or Filipino community and you’ll see they either don’t care or want it to happen. Indonesia especially has always had fantastic ties with Japan.

Not really. This is a Thai vehicle operated by the Thai army, that will be represented in game with Thai crew, Thai camouflage, Thai roundels, with a Thai flag next to the name and its operator country being Thailand.

Potential hot take, South Korea should be a USA subtree and North Korea should be a China subtree.
United Korea would be a far better and less controversial option. We can include some countries that cannot go to Japanese TT as sub trees for United Korea TT.
