Yes, which is exactly why China isn’t added as a Japanese subtree, and Japan isn’t added as a Chinese subtree.
I’d even say that right now, with subtrees the way they are, I see the issue. Even a Thai VT-4, when placed in the Japanese research tree, can have implications that are problematic.
That’s why I personally want subtrees to get research trees under their own flag and nation, to act as cooperating nations that can share lineups, rather than one nation being placed “under” another.
But that doesn’t mean we should block the Thai VT-4, instead we need to demand the change that allows it to be added without controversy.
Come on Chinese people that still think the tank is still yours join and ask us instead of “Claiming” I don’t see anyone do this since I wrote. Are you afraid of Thai players? Or only have power here?
I share a similar view with you: treating the Southeast Asian countries as a Pan-Asian route to avoid conflicts and tensions in international relations.
Because it is not a political statement. They are perceiving this as one.
Japan is getting Thai subtree and Thailand has VT-4. It is simple, there is no real problem here.
I already made a suggestion for this subtree rework. The idea is to keep all subtree functionality, but offer more individual national identity and space for vehicle additions to each nation.
Additionally this allows for more player choicefor how and what they want to play in game.
If anyone has more ideas for improvement those are always appreciated, just write them under the suggestion.

i want thai tech tree join as my own nation or Full SEA nation in warthunder but since it has to be JP subtree so in really im still ok with being JP subtree. VT-4 that thai use is the varient version for trade to other country and china dont use this varient to garrison that Basiclly that thai varient have rights to join JP sup tree Also OplotM also can add to japan too because it Ukrine modification varient and most of them were use by thai Calvary as main garrison MBT so it still have rights to join JP tho and also i think Ukrine player cloud agree that OplotM join JP than Ussr.
And for lone last thing i understand Chinese player who want thailand tree to add to china because thailand and china were friendly nation for long times but IMO our friendship since WW2 were Politic and trade is the most but Thailand and japan was military alliance please understand my point,I mean im also OK if gaijin add thailand to China subtree at first but also ok if they add to japan too

I do not have anything against Chinese players but this is unfair to Thai players and anyone who wants to play Thai tanks.
The point is to not add VT4 to the japanese tree, not that to not add the Thai VT4 at all. That’s why gaijin responded with this letter: 战争雷霆团队致中国社区的一席话 to the discussion about “No Chinese vehicles added to the Japanese tech tree”: 请不要在后续更新中向日系科技树添加中系载具
One solution is to push gaijin to have an independent tech tree for ASEAN nations, which is also discussed in this channel (see earlier posts). U can also visit 关于整合泛亚科技树 for more discussion.
I understand, I just think that adding more and more copy-paste trees to game isn’t good idea. Especially when GJ decided to add subtrees, especially to nations that do not have many of their own tanks.
This guy @NFrost51 already has some very good ideas. And, it seems possible to build an entire independent ASEAN tech tree without too much copy-pasting, at least for high tiers:

I feel like this would be problematic for the game.
Subtrees have been established by other nations and set performance standards all factions should meet to be viable and future proof.
If the Thai subtree is removed from the Japanese tree, and with an ASEAN tree also the other two subtree options of Indonesia and the Philippines, then what would be left is a nation that struggles to keep up with a nation like Britain even without other Commonwealth nations.
So for such a move to be fair the entire game needs to be changed and most current subtrees removed or turned into independent trees like BeNeLux and India. This would again negatively affect even mpre nations in the process.
This could work, but it is also still a massively fundamental change that essentially boils down to one nation having an issue with one tank operated by another nation.
I think the best option is instead to improve the existing subtree system to allow for similar national identity for all nations, but still allow for the same shared lineups that are possible now.
The issue as I’ve seen it presented is that the VT-4 is added to a Japanese subtree → implying it is indirectly under Japan.
But in a reworked system, there is no main- or subtrees, only nations. Japan is just one nation next to Thailand. They can still cooperate, but they don’t have to. The VT-4 wouldn’t be under Japan, since Thailand wouldn’t be under Japan.
