There’s no pressure if I can “avoid” the missile by just driving straight and ignore it, it’s just an annoyance. People will brainlessly sling off their ARHs just because they have so many of them, praying they’ll catch someone being afk.
You actually need to get in position to do that with 9Bs, with ARHs you just need to have a good plane, climb and shoot lol.
I don’t know why there is this belief 120s are superior. The only advantage is range. So they only need different tactics.
If you get a hit/kill with a 120 at 30km, your enemy made a big mistake.
That’s the problem, that ammo “waste” is barely noticeable as stuff simply have too much ammo.
If someone has 8 ARHs and he spams a few he’ll still be left with 6 which is enough to get like half of the enemy team on it’s own.
That number was just arbitrary, he could get off 3 or 4 and still be left with 3-4 to use later.
Now multiply those numbers by like 5-6 and there’s like ~20 missiles up in the air that have close to zero probability of hitting. Seems like people understand their missile count is more than enough so they’ll happily waste some like they have a gambling addiction.
They might start actually thinking at who they’re firing if their missile count was reduced, which would massively help with the brainless spam.
yea get the same feeling with r77 vs aim120
also i have the felling the r77 mostly goas were i want it to while the aim120 sometimes just fly’s of in a random direction
and bvr is just not a thing in this game does not matter which missile
even the aim120 takes extremely long to travel 15km unless yeeted from space competent players will just notch or multi path the missile
I don’t understand why people are like: “B- but you can launch AIM-120s from 600 km away, while the others only work well within 15 km!!1!”
And I’m like… 15km ranges ARE the ones found ingame… not 60 km, not 40 km, not 30 km; 15 and below. You want missiles capable of actually hitting targets within these ranges, not missiles that “could theorically hit a target 40 km away”; because evading missiles fired from such distances is extremely easy and literally no one dies to missiles launched from 40 km away. What kills you is 50G thrust-vectored missiles fired from distances from which you can’t even begin defending before they are shoved up your exhaust.
exactly not to mention the stat card range and speed is a maximum
basically the same has max altutude for planes at best you manage to reach it but will you go there on a regular basis? no you wont
i dont know if they changed it but a few patches after the f14 was added i tested the long range aim54 against ai targets and despite them being listed has 150km missile it couldn’t do more than 35-40km against ai targets flying straight in a b25(mini b17) because the missile was just gliding towards the ground with pretty much no energy
if it barely can hit a b25 how high are its odds against a modern fighter rwr and chaff and maneuvering?
120s are superior, if they have better range, then they have better kinetics even in WVR, which allows kills up to 10km with tail chase. It currently is way too easy for them to play brain dead tactics whilst multipath might not work against their missile, all I can do is use my CMs, which a lot of planes do not have a lot, F16As with 60 CMs literally need to dump most of it to dodge a single AMRAAM.
“and then im like, the ranges ARE the ones found ingame”
no the fuck they aren’t
you can have long range shots, the maps are big enough
the fact is, you are forced to engage in close distance with a fucking bayonet
yeah, you could say an f-16c block 50 can do a lot of damage close range against an f-14 or f-15
but you are disadvantaged and have to play off meta
Thing is… who the hell dies to missiles fired from 40 KM away?
How many kills beyond 25 KM have you actually seen?
You get RWR warnings from the moment you are locked on. From 40 KM away, all it takes for you to evade the missile is a bit of notching and a couple of turns more for you to lose the missile which, if it even gets remotely close to you, will be practically struggling not to fall off the sky by that point.
All you have to do, and you have up to 25-30 seconds to do it, is to just pull a few turns outwards till the RWR doesn’t make any more noises. Even a single turn to look away while chaffing works.
Yeah, and while you’re dodging their missiles, the enemy team and your team meets and has a fucking fight. While you got 0 missiles off because the amraam outranges you.
How difficult is that to fucking understand.
Just came across this video on youtube, and honestly its a really good video on how to use the MICA-EM. Even though hes in sim, its actually even easier in RB since you have better vision. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJ3YiYlf_i4
Well, I think this is just a Fox-3 thing in general, not an AIM-120 thing. I do indeed spend the match defending- but normally, what ends up eventually getting me, is a MICA-EM when I finally can get closer to the fight and the thing just pulls 270° turns in order to hit me from comically sharp angles of attack which my AMRAAMs could not even dream of being launched from.
Longer range shots make me waste time by defending, yes. But it’s close-mid range MICAs that end up reducing me to atoms 80% of the times when I can finally get any closer to the fight.
He will never accept your arguments or even think about.
These 2 talking to me are the same. They never used 120s in battle, so they only know the defensive side.
Let us wait till they have some battles in 120’s planes and they will become silent.
And a small bet: They will use the same braindead tactic they are talking about.
Don’t get me wrong, the 120s are still nice, I’m not suggesting that they are bad or something- it’s just that, in the meta, missiles capable of pulling 50G turns from launch thanks to thrust-vectoring can obviously pull way more kills way more easily in the close and medium range engagements that take place normally.
Sure, 120s are annoying from long ranges because you have to defend… the key here is that you CAN defend against them. But you can’t defend against a MICA that pulls G’s like a maniac and will turn 270° to hit you if necessary.
