Well.
I’m disgusted.
Really. I like Warthunder naval (without missiles).
But the new mecanic or repair is the WORST thing that could happen in naval.
I do not want to repair my ship. I do not want to repair my turret or engine. LET ME DO WHAT I WANT WITH MY SHIP.
With this new mecanic, each time you are hit by enemy, your ship is repairing, or doing any other crisis.
I played warthunder naval since the begining, this is the WORST thing that you can add. You already added compartment mechanic that’s aweful, now this is the worst of the worst !
Have you got more idea to make that game worst ?
That’s over for me. Gonna leave warthunder. I had a good time in it but you made it worst.
2025 was the best to sunk warthunder naval. You done the job. Sorry.
When you repair, you add more crew on a place, as like engine. So you are easier to kill.
Sometime its better to do not repair. As like doing fire first, breach or do not repair at all.
If you repair, it’s death cause you add more crew member on a place that you do not want.
havent checked the dev myself yet, but i thought it was gonna be an optional mechanic?
like, you could still do it the old fashioned way, but if you were too lazy/stupid you could OPT for the the new automated mechanic
or did i misinterpret the extremely vague hinting clues the CMs gave us
There does not seem to be a way of not having any of the three modes on. The old mechanic was either manual or “auto”. This one seems to be just priority of work.
Can’t say I like it either and it will be a bigger boost to those with aced crews, since they will work thru repairs much faster.
If I have a fire in the funnel but a catastrophic torpedo breech, I will want to repair the breech and ignore the fire.
However, if I have a barbette fire extending to the magazine, but a minor leak… I will want to ignore the leak while focusing on the fire.
Or- if my AA guns are destroyed, I will generally leave them- but if my main guns are destroyed, naturally I will want to fix them ASAFP.
Now- this new mechanic wouldn’t be an issue at all… if it weren’t because there is a 30 second coldown to switch priorities! And of course, it’s just priorities- you can’t cancel or actually prioritize or choose when to repair or not to repair…
Yeah, I’m afraid that’s the last nail in the coffin for me, hahah. I mean, Soyuz, compression, PT ending BB matches via caps, etc, were already big enough issues for me not to play in months… but now I don’t think I will even have the ocassional match.
Repair micromanagement was one of the most entertaining and performance-defining aspects of Naval, and now it’s gone… at least it should be an optional switch and let those of us who mastered micromanagement stay manual.
TLDR: If this system is to stay, my BIGGEST suggestion (indispensable) would be to remove the 30 second coldown there is to switch priorities. There should be no coldown at all.
And also, there should be a way to cancel repairs entirely; sometimes it is more convenient to just not be repairing anything.
dev server tends to be riddled with bugs and unfinished stuff, and i hate to be that guy(especially since i havent tested it myself), but until someone with the slightest link to the actual devs tells us whether or not this is a bug or not, im gonna have to side with them for now
big problem there is that virtually none of the vaguely gaijin related mods/etc gives a shit about naval
Not so much survivability, more like its fightability. Auto repair will probably save more of the average players who don’t pay attention to damage control at all.
What on earth were they thinking when adding this, I cannot think of a single reason to have a cooldown for this.
Eh, its a bit of both really, magazine explosions due to lack of (forced) firefighting is going to affect both fightability and survivability pretty equally if you are just dead.
I can imagine the future bugs in this system were the priotisation just messes up and does exactly nothing.
In naval repairing is often the last thing you want to do, you want to manage your damage control with turret / ammo elevator fires> flooding> other fires> repairs. however as @Bombe18 said, sometimes you don’t want to repair at all, for example if you are being shelled with HE rounds, you don’t want to repair your AA guns as that will replace their crews on the deck to get killed by the next salvo of HE.
It would actually be better to get a system to select specific parts of the ship to repair, so I could tell my crew to fix the ammo elevator in the main turret, with out them also working on the damaged torp tubes as well.
