Br isn’t the issue, the LDIRCM is. It’s currently a magic shield rather than being able to defend against some Stingers. It even defends against modern SPAA, entire swarms of them. While IRL it doesn’t even reliably counters stingers and has limited arcs.
The new SPAA are for the most part entirely helpless against the MI28NM. Because the magic DIRCM just counters missiles it shouldn’t be able to counter, entire swarms too.
Well, I’m not just talking about their effectiveness against helis, but also aircraft.
There’s no reason why an AMX (11.0 strike aircraft) or AH-129 CBT (11.0 heli) should be facing IRIST in a full uptier, or really any of the other 12.0 SPAAs (especially the newer ones and the pantsir).
Yes, so until they introduce the mechanic of overwhelming these missiles as a feature for content in the next update, these helicopters should be moved up.
If you don’t want them moved up its because you want to take advantage and abuse them as long as possible before it happens.
I get strange bugs in sim all the time. Last one I got was, somehow, even though it wasn’t key bound, my nvd was linked to the radar, so if I turned it off / on I got flash banged. Sucked to play sim that day.
I don’t want the SPAAs moved up, the Helicopters can go to 15.0 as far as I’m concerned. But moving them up won’t fix that they’re currently countering their counter. And it’s not even about overwhelming them, they straight up shouldn’t deflect those missiles, much less reliably, in a bubble, and several at once.
At best they should deflect manpads, and they’re not even that good at that and have a limited arc for their deflection.
Most of the SACLOS SPAAs (if played well) can counter helis fairly well in urban and high-density foliage maps. The problem only occurs where helis have cover to balloon near, such as mountains, and no foliage or buildings to worry about ( Red Desert is a great example of a good heli map).
But the easiest heli counter are planes, and so I really wish they would reduce the SP cost of only A-2-A fighter aircraft from 480SP to something like 200SP or 300SP.
This would also help against multi-purpose Aircraft like Rafale and Su-30SM spam too.
And what’s going to stop me from taking a plane as first spawn and kill some tanks with guns?
Good luck doing that reliably at top tier.
At least with Mauser BK27, it’s pretty simple.
For sure. The mauser BK27 is pretty good, though with how many lethal SPAAs and proxy + IRST IFVs there are at top tier, I’m not too sure if it would be a huge issue.
Though if it is a big problem, I think making a belt made out of only HEF and make its AP ammo cost SP would be good. (I’m not sure if Gaijin would bother)
Maybe 200SP or 300SP is too cheap, but I think 480 SP is too much for it to be worth-while.
This might make GRB a safe heaven for fighter jocks that are looking for marker-less A2A action without dozens of planes buzzing around them in any given time. Might backfire really hard.
Perhaps.
I think first-spawning A2A aircraft could be a problem in that sense, though I’d say they’re basically just as problematic as people who first-spawn SPAAs that can’t kill ground targets.
Yes those SPAAs can capture points, unlike the fighters, but it’s quite infeasible.
If they truly wanted to, there’s nothing stopping them from just mindlessly zoom around and scout or cap until they get 480 SP (I know some people that do for CAS at least).
Ground Sim Battles allow first-spawning of both helis and aircraft ( even with full A-2-G ordnance) though I don’t think I nearly have enough experience in that gamemode for me to make a well-informed and clear judgement of how problematic they are.
In my opinion, even if people first-spawn A-2-A aircraft (which don’t help at all in the ground fight), it effectively allows those that are fighting on the ground relative freedom from getting CAS’d way more than what most SPAAs and CAS mains can relieve.
Isn’t that what tankers want? Less frustrating deaths from CAS?
Isn’t that what pilots want? More engaging dogfights?
Plus they can support CAS helis and planes by supressing enemy air too, and possibly distracting SPAA.
This would also give SPAAs more (relatively) free kills ( with zero repercussion other than maybe a HE gun strafe to the ammunition).
Either way, you win by capping and killing enemy ground so ground mains still play the largest role in the team’s victory.
If this is somehow unappealing for ground mains, I honestly don’t know what will other than the addition of a tank-only gamemode.
The only issue I can see are A-2-A aircraft camping the enemy aircraft spawn, but I think a reasonably good fix for that would be the addition of multiple air spawns roughly the same distance away from the battlefield. Aircraft get marked on the map once they get close enough anyways…
AP belts costs more SP and doing this in top tier is pointless and suicidal.
AP belts for top tier aircraft isn’t really a thing other than for a select few aircraft
Mauser BK27 for example have very strong aphe even in aa belt.
And if no one spawn spaa at the beginning of the match? And even if there is an spaa, at least ir spaa (like iris-t) are easily killed by guns on 2/3 maps.
Uh? Okay? Nobody is saying these should be free to spawn at spawn like SPAA at the beginning of a match, at the very least make it easier to spawn after one or two kills. It is ridiculously expensive to spawn CAP loadouts with Fox 3 and 2.
I believe only cas-haters side. They say that cas cost is too low and any low-skill can take a full-loaded plane after making just a couple of assists. If it’s that simple, then saving up some sp for a cheaper cap isn’t a problem at all.
That being said, I don’t think cheapening CAP would hurt. If anything, it would help defeat more CAS players ( especially bad ones) before they cause devistation without having their SP cost increase (though that would definitely help too).
