What real tank drives into a built-up area a with zero troop support?
What has that tondo with the level of detail and quality of the tank implementation?

I agree you should need that level of detail in sim at least. Sb gf needs to be deleted because tanks are so pathetic.
But again you talked about war thunder not just the tanks.
You are asking for a sim level of reality that is nothing to do with War Thunder where as we are asking for Warthunder to return some previously lost qualities and fix the areas of the game that are broken. We are not asking for WT to become something it never was and not even Sim is a Sim in any way to be honest.
The air game is a shockingly poor and childish game. I played it for a few hours before deciding it was terrible. Great for children maybe. Sadly GRB is heading the same way.
If WT models WW2 tanks then play them on a WW2 map
IF WT does Modern tanks put them on a Modern map
and yes I do expect era separation to a degree and not 40s vs 80s ,I would expect that in any game.
Just base maps on real areas if designers can’t make maps and we as adults accept them even if they are unbalanced or have sniping points. Recreate historical maps as they were. I don’t think anybody is really asking for anything new or radical here just a request to do what is there properly as it should be and in some cases as it was.

Out of the 6 years I’ve played this game, no one agrees with this, and you’re not the first to have this sentiment.

Please find me where a computer has multiple sticks for each option. Also by this logic then you would need to go to Bootcamp which is 10 weeks and that’s over 2 and a half months. To learn proper Military stances, discipline, and Patience a lot of patience, oh and don’t worry you would have fun with ruck marches, tons of fun.
Once you’re done with that there are chances you will be denied the ability to drive a tank due to you being too fat, or too tall. Or just too short? with AIT Tankery lasting anywhere between 2 weeks to 52 weeks which is over 11 months.
So by your logic, this is what you would need to do to play a video game after all you want realism.

For WW2 is a different story as it is nothing more than a steering wheel and a bunch of levers.
Sim is definately a sim for aircraft.

I will try another example. The Mi-8 has a little fan in the cockpit that is working properly.
It doesn’t have any effect on gameplay but it works.
Quality describes the level of effort put into a product.
No tank has that level of effort put in it.
That’s the ultimate point.

Also in ab and rb the instructor needs to use those controls not you, they only need to exist. They don’t need to be used.

i never said you shouldn’t. i said proper driving isn’t implemented. you use mouse and keyboard for aircraft as well, still real flight controls are implemented.

My entire argument is that the devs didn’t put effort in any new addition before 2018 and tanks came before that. That’s the entire point i am trying to make.
Sim is another story. There real controls should be forced for everyone. But in general it is more about the level of care the developers put into the product. And i want to demonstrate that the level of care is demonstrably less in tanks and that therefore you cannot judge the state of the game by just looking at the tanks.
But that’s what eddie did. He judged WT in it’s entirety based on tanks alone… even though those are the worst vehicles in terms of quality in War thunder.
So what is the control method for tanks you want then?

This is a very, VERY expensive level of detail you’re asking for. Would I like to see fully modeled tank interiors? Yes, ofc. However I also understand that the effort and cost is not worth it for the few players who would actually use it. You may say “Hey, we have fully modelled cockpits, so why not tanks’s interiors?” Well, cockpits are tiny compared to the whole tank…
You’re asking for a level of details like in Red Orchestra or whatever the game is called. This is not going to happen in WT, for SB battles are rather “sim light”, both for ground and air vehicles…

You are missing the point. It isn’t about what is needed, but tonshow how little effort was put into tanks in terms of detail and quality compared to what came after 2018.
That’s the point isn’t it? They modelled every aircraft Cockpit to some degree even though the game is played in 3rd person. That wasn’t necessary and expensive as well. They still did it. They also did it for helicopters. Hell they have working MFDs even though you end up using the guncam and not use the MFDs at all.
Again this is to compare the level of effort that went into tanks compared to pretty much everything else.
You are not in league with he the OP here and I play on a Console with a controller not on a PC with a keyboard or control yoke for flying. I hardy have enough buttons as it is.
I have played lots of sim type games since the 80s and this isn’t one of them but I would just like WT to do what it does in a better way not move onto be something else.
It all depends though on what WT actually does want to be and that is the issue. The game itself does not know what it wants to be and the people running it don’t seem to know either. Even the players cant agree. The company lacks strong direction and leadership.
We don’t as if commander would stick head outside of the hatch he could be killed by MG (Squad, Squad 44, Hell Let Loose, Arma & Il-2 Tank Crew), but apparently he is not sticking his head out only for player it seems like he does.
So don’t play sim. What’s your point?

This isn’t true in general either. The game is actually quite good at it.
I knows AB is a action shooter, SB is aflight sim (it is, not the highest fidelity but it is definately enough from someone who has flown a plane in his life). RB is the only mode where this applies. But again this is all just for air. Tanks know what they are a shoter and that’s it. It has less effort put into it.
Your view remains limited on ground and you use that assessment for the entire game, you shouldn’t. Tanks are unique in WT with their low level of detail and quality.

No i use ground as an explanation. Nut my point is that your statement about war thunder wasn’t about war thunder but just ground. It is incorrect if you consider all of WT, which your comment implied as Ou specifically stated “War Thunder” and not “ground forces” this also is not the gf section.
So if you wanted to imply that you were talking GF, then you failed.
I also responded with specific air topics. Your response wasn’t “oh i just meant ground”. So i assumed you tried to make a point about all of WT.
And again WT isn’t bad only GF is. And it was worse than everything else right from the beginning. That’s why i tried to show you that GF were lower in quality than any other vehicle type. Less detailled and less thought out. And all problems stem from tanks being the redheaded stepchild of WT. Gaijin even increased the quality of new implentations since 2018. So the bad implemented tanks look even worse in comparison.
That’s why i talk about what tanks are lacking, to show you the differece in effort between Something like helicopters compared to tanks.
All your complaints only apply to GF. The quality of WT in generally actually got quite a lot better over the years.
