So are red tops. From my experience with them, they are perfectly usable in a dogfight, far more so than the 9B thanks to their massive gimbal limit.

Instead of calling out the massive skill issue present ill instead let you know in a little secret. Deltas are great in the 1 vs 1 but in any situation that isnt a 1 vs 1 you should run. I already know a good portion of you will have flown an f104, so play it like that and just boom and zoom until you’ve managed to draw a guy or 2 (depending on how confident you are) out of the way to where you have the advantage. Other than that, never dump your speed too quickl. Rn the F-106 is an AOA MONSTER thats capable of pulling its noise onto target pretty much at any speed, this thing could be 10.0 but thats after the aim-4 fixes but thats not to say it couldnt be 10.0 and not have a chance.
Some of you may be more used to the mig 21 fm where you can just get into the fur ball and just dog fight to your hearts content, you cant do that in this. It requires some modicum of skill. Learn to fly the jet before saying its bad and dont expect to get a real representation of it rn as everyones playing 10.3 specifically stomp it (a good portion of those 10.3, 10.0 should be moved up anyway).
Deltas are also a lot better when you exercise a modicum of restraint and DONT just pull as hard as you can.

Me watching most F-106 players pull a vertical after a head on in the middle of a fur ball just to stall out and get shot down… I already know 90% of the people agreeing with this guy in this thread do this exact thing…

Red Top pulls harder, has more range, but most importantly has a HUGE gimbal limit unlike 9E and especially unlike 9B’s caged seeker
It just needs to go to 9.0 or even 9.3 because it’s so OP at 8.3. Not having guns isn’t an issue when you can stall out every plane you see leaving them an easy kill for you missile. Combine some of the best flight performance with IFF radar, and a good rwr and you get something that’s OP at 8.3. It’s also fine at 9.0 too. Even in uptiers red tops are still good enough to go for less maneuverable targets.
Also, the F-106 should be 9.7 in sim.

Red Tops additionally do have all aspect against afterburning targets at over a kilometer

welp because it got missles… maybe in the future USSR add the Su-9 the fighter version of the Su-7 equipped with missles.
Su-9 is not based on the Su-7. It also has only RS-1U beam-riding missiles which would be just as useless as the Fireflash
Nah, its basically sub 1km and the red tops dont pull off the rail so its basically useless.
It has the highest number of kills per spawn of any 8.3 BR plane. It’s ridiculously under-tiered.

This is just untrue. They have more than 1km range and they start guiding after 0.3s, which is faster than everything else mounted to a plane except SRAAM (instant), R-73 (0.15), and Magics (0.25).
