The F-106A’s battle rating is the worst possible. Because of the bad missiles, the terrible visibility from the cockpit, and the fact that the Vulcan cannon cannot be used when the bomb bay doors is open, putting this aircraft at 9.3 BR is sheer nonsense.
It would be more appropriate if it received an 9.0 br. That way, there would also be a chance to make use of the missiles, since it could often face bombers, and thus the designation “interceptor” would actually make sense in the case of this aircraft.
Even I, being such bad player, im confident enough to say that I want to 1v1 OP, any 8.7 or 7.7 aircraft of his choosing vs. me in F-106, 10 battles just so we make sure to make the randomness factor as low as possible.
turn slightly and the missiles are defated, they lack their IRL all-aspect, making them hard to use and the lack of any gun means you are basically DOA in a dogfight.
its run away and hope to thrid party someone. As it stands Sea Vixen needs some major buffs, and thats only when it gets downtiered. In an uptier… You are DOA as a lot of aircraft have CMs and better missiles than you whilst also having guns
Playing a normal Sabre or MiG-15/17 is unbearable the 'run away and hope to third party someone is literally the strategy for these bums, they do it and run away bc its faster than everything else that isn’t 9.0/3 supersonic.
Im sorry, but Sabre, Mig-15/17 is unbearable in a full uptier against an extremely niche 9.0 aircraft is kinda ironic considering just how under BRed those aircraft are and how many people hate fighting them in an uptier in most 7.0s
Even in the SB context. Again, all you can do is run away and hope to third party.
Last time I took it out in SB, I spent the entire match with a G91 I think it was glued to my tail. Nothing I could do about it other than keep running away (and he was 100% keeping pace with me) and 75% of my misisles were defeated when the target turned slightly.
Again… Really not that strong of an aircraft and really needs some buffs.
