Sim community wishlist - small fixes/changes

“Issue”:
AJ37 and other aircraft TILS system, and “Improvised runways,” as well as multiple Arial refueling craft that can be destroyed for points.

Cause:
not implemented

Solution:
Add it!

I figure since air sim could be more “historical” with the “NATO” forces against the “War Saw Pact,” also coming with the implementation of Air Tankers, Soviet and Chinese specifics and NATO specific tankers, with different capabilities (I.e. Boom/Drogue and Probe) with a constant marker on the map to tell you what type it is, and where they are, I feel like with more modern aircraft, recognition should be seamless, with AWACS to give Friendly and Enemy positions at top tier, although this removes some of the current aspects, but is also a QOL change.

I was thinking the same a day or so ago. Shouldn’t be too difficult to implement, as it’s essentially how Sim GB currently works (a pre-defined selection of vehicles). A selection of such EC ‘Events’ could be made available either permanently, on a regular rotating basis or periodically, perhaps at appropriate times of the year.

@CorporalApollo The Polish mod community has proven that it is possible to completely rebuild SIM as an event. separately of course.
It’s interesting that these people manage to build more in a week in their spare time than Gaijin did in 3 years of EC. so everything is somehow possible if there is enough motivation.

As for EC internal improvements, it’s always little things. a bit of fiddling with the rotation here, a bit of fiddling with the Br’s there.
Even adding a new nation set would only be a small thing.
don’t worry, nothing will be destroyed :) the Techtree and Silverlions system prevent the EC from being converted from a camel into a second IL-2 :) Moeep, I have 0 influence on Gaijin. and I have already written such bad things about the snail.

yes, we can be happy that Sim is better than RB. but we can’t be happy that EC is worse today than it was two years ago.

Do you have link to mission? Im interested to try it out on any map against bots just to see what is different.

I now re-create my rooms until I get the “clear” weather so that point is rather moot.

Also there’s already EC games which have AI enabled and all vs all so it’s already in the game. If players are making games you don’t like, don’t join that room, I fail to see the issue here.

I don’t care if people “exploit” the option to better their grind; I’m not interested in joining games that are 6 vs 2, it’s actually the problem I’m trying to resolve. We already have massively unbalanced games with so many American TT players (especially in the NA server group).

There’s a simple solution to this, add more Gaijin created rooms with these left out nations. That would also be a solution to the problem of finding games if they don’t want to empower us to enable Named AI players (Bots)

Except that’s not a solution.

Who are these left out nations going to play against? Bots? Themselves?

The issue still remains, people will continue to avoid playing against these nations, (and sorry, giving them a Gaijin created room doesn’t change that, people will just avoid the Gaijin created room :P). We simply cannot allow players to exclude parts of the player base, it can and will be abused.
There is serious time and sometimes financial investment that goes into completing an air tree, and in a lot of cases - one nation is all someone’s got. There’s already an issue of certain nations being left out of BR’s and metas, let’s not create another issue of them not being allowed to participate with other players.

You do realise that more rooms won’t solve anything unless there’s players in them?

Sim player base is already small, let’s not separate the player base even more by adding thousands of possible nation-sets.

And this quote… Speaks for itself.

It’s clear you don’t have the best of EC in mind.

You do also realize Gaijin is not going to allow exploits like that? They’ll just nerf sim rewards once again.

I have never heard of the polish sim community, what did they ‘rebuild’?

We have to somewhat stay within the
Constraints of the BR and 10 nation system, and suggest EC improvements with those in mind. The Ground/Air RB/AC playerbase outnumber the sim playerbase likely 100 to 1, It’s completely unfeasible to expect Gaijin to rebuild the entire system the game is founded on becayse the SIM community wants it…

IMO it’s way more about 2 main things.

  1. Decrease the learning curve, we don’t have to go to arcadey lengths but there is massive improvements needed for the default controls setups and guides. You should not need to spend hours to fine tune a controls setup for sim, barely any new player will stick around for that.
They will also get punished with massive respawn costs (and TK costs for not learning IFF) as they’re learning which will easily drain a new players SL balance.

  2. Improve the game-mode itself, more varying ground/attack targets, more player-interacting objectives, give surveillance planes a function, larger maps for high BR, datalink… list goes on

I don’t care if people farm - it doesn’t effect me in any way shape or form. People getting jealous and crying to Mommy Gaijin is what got us here in the first place (from what I can tell).

I’m actually impressed by how shortsighted you are. Is there no sense of ramification for these changes you’re asking for? At least Camel can get it through his head and counter argue instead of writing childish things like this next quote:

Matter of fact, people farming/exploiting is what got us here in the first place with the many nerfs we’ve recieved to sim SL/RP earnings and respawn cost… Did you experience the sim economy before the huge boycott/review bombing last spring? (Not to say it’s good now)

The farming hasn’t stopped and the farming will never stop in a game where there are events and tech trees which require huge amounts of grind to accomplish/unlock desired vehicles.

The more restrictions put in place the more people will work to overcome those restrictions. This is the way.

All I’m asking for is a way to get into battles quicker as currently starting a game from scratch is a PITA which often requires no less than 2 20 minute waits for a room to start because there’s simply not enough people playing on the given opposing teams (which is why I’d like to stack more nations on the other side).

AI Bots do help when they’re availabel - the games that are created that have AI Bots work great and usually the bots are replaced with actual players with in the first half hour of the match (so yes, AI Bots would solve the issue you mentioned before).

Except that you can’t overcome the restrictions of the useful actions system that we have. It literally limits the amount of SL/RP you’re able to acquire for each 30 minutes. No “farming technique” can overcome it, and its honestly quite easy to max out. The only exception is the mission score which is useful to some events, but even then you can literally earn more mission score just PVP’ing than using the current ‘zombing’ techniques during events, it’s only people with skill issue that have to resort to it. Ironically farming the zomb-farmers is more efficient than actually ‘zombing’ lmao

And you can thank the farmers/exploiters for the useful actions system.

Not to mention, most planes doing PvE or base bombing can’t take out multiple bases or targets because of limited payload and ammo. For an example of a few that can take out multiple, the F-111, and other “heavy bombers.” So not only is it hard to reach that limit without PvP, it’s almost impossible for some vehicles. So yes, PvE “grinding” isn’t really good for anything unless playing and breaking for long times.

I’m not sure. it’s a question of perspective.
yes compared to RB Sim is a dwarf.
but Sim is an integral part of this game.
it should actually be in Gaijin’s interest to improve the sim mode. which greengrocer sells moldy apples so that the apples are no longer bought? Gaijin’s sim policy is totally absurd. if we are all supposed to play RB, why does Gaijin keep a 1% sim mode?

I’ve often argued with german RB Streamers. I’ve asked these people: “why don’t you do a little advertising for Sim on the side?” the answer: “because sim sucks!” my counter question “RB doesn’t?” …then … silence :)

how is Sim ever going to grow with an attitude like that?
terrible people these german streamers

now I press quote again.

yes, these are good points to new sim players.

the question is why doesn’t Gaijin come up with such ideas themselves?

what are the snail’s plans for sim?

are they waiting until we sim players are all fed up? or is this a social experiment? :) or are we Sim players all crazy and Gaijin wants to protect us from gaming addiction? …by making the mode bad.

you see I have more questions than answers

You literally only need 2 people in each team to create a lobby, that’s not much to ask. And if you can’t even get 3 people in the entire BR range to join you, you should probably just join an existing lobby and help fill it up.

That being said I’ve been told long ago that at some lower BR’s the playerbase is literally so dead that there isn’t even a single lobby available sometimes, in which case sure AI could help, but allowing AI like that would only make the situation way worse in all other situations, allowing people to endlessly create lobbies will massively increase the amount of rooms and spread the already low playerbase even thinner.

Now imagine if every player could create a lobby whenever they want, the more active BR’s would suffer massively as there would be waaaay too many rooms than there are players. The games would be extremely dull and slow. All in all I don’t think a 2v2 requirement is that much of an ask, and if there isn’t even 3 other people in the whole BR bracket then maybe the issue isn’t “lack of rooms”

I can agree that this is an issue at some lower BR, and I’d suggest and even support if you suggested some new nation-sets that Gaijin could add to the existing ones to help you out.

But I will not support allowing full customisation of the nation sets as it will be a complete disaster for every BR and have huge consequences I’ve already explained - Just so that the BR bracket that can’t even scratch together 3 people can start a game quicker.

100% agree with you. Sim has the most potential out of any game-mode. But It’s not an integral part of the game, it’s not even on their radar. They refused to even acknowledge our problems for an entire year.

We can totally ask for changes now, but we can definitely not expect Gaijin to essentially re-invent the entire balancing/nation system because sim would benefit from it (sim being 1% of playerbase)

There are so many improvements EC needs it’s much more important to focus on them, it will in turn grow the playerbase

Honestly, allowing the Named AI bots would solve the issue of getting games giong without a need to customize nations but the customizing nations also allows for people do do other things they’d like, like NATO vs USSR but they could also just allow that in the drop down too - that isn’t my biggest or first “wish”.

As far as 2 being a reasonable number, it sounds reasonable but it’s not; as I’ve mentioned I’ve spent over 45 minutes trying to get a game to start because of the lack of players (and those players’ lack of patience).

There are enough players, but those players don’t wait in rooms for just one other person to join in, but once the game starts that is no longer a problem.

you could summarize it like this: we are the community of lowered expectations.

or simply put: we sim players are the bums in the welfare office :D

I’ll send you the link in a moment.

So you claim there is enough players? Then what do you suppose they’re doing when you’re starting a lobby? Are they just sitting in the hangar? I seriously doubt it. Especially if you have to wait 45 minutes. They either don’t exist or they’re in another lobby you should probably help fill up instead of starting a new one.

It would have MASSIVE balance implications, and the issue I mentioned before of people/nations being left out. It’s not appropriate for the main Enduring Confrontations game-mode which people rely on. All of these customisations are still an option in custom battles and it should stay that way.

What Gaijin could do which I would support is to have “weekly events” where every week or every other day there would be a themed sim-lobby above heli-pve with an interesting nation-set and situation.

your text could have been written by me ;)

I think you need to take Coporal Apollo to the lobby. :) Apollo must experience our frustration live. @CorporalApollo

I also waited 40 minutes yesterday for a little Vietnam feeling…while watching a movie on my cell phone.

…but I failed. then had to compete against MiG-23 one br higher.
