It’s already hard to find games as it is so I’d much rather have a bunch of PVE farmers who’s day I can come ruin than not have the options at all.
This is true
@PCPaulDPearl @Morvran
as a reminder, player-created rooms were abolished at the same time as usefull action was introduced.
… simply put, this was part of the so-called “general punishment”
I have to disagree with Morvran here. Player created rooms were not removed because there was actual abuse - but because Gaijin was bombarded with “punish other players” feedback.
a good feature was destroyed that had given the mode flexibility. what was not necessary to delete that. there would have been other methods to prevent abuse.
I create my own rooms all the time, we’re just missing the options I’d like.
Because it will be exploited. People are just going to cut away nations with “Too OP” aircraft and then entire nations are going to be left hanging. I also don’t trust players to “balance” the nations, no way in hell it’s just going to be a huge mess.
I like having weather/time of day randomised, gives some diversity. People are probably just going to set up “clear, day” rooms otherwise.
@Lieutenant_Camel @Morvran @PCPaulDPearl
I think it’s massively important to actually take a second to think about the changes you’re advocating for, recognise the consequences of them.
For example I know a few of the changes Camel has advocated for would be very detrimental to EC sim, and just turn into a disaster. (I’ve argued with him about this in multiple threads and explained exactly why they are problematic)
If you guys want something radically different with clear consequences, I think a better way to bring that forward is to ask for that as a separate game-mode, and make that abundantly clear.
When you actually take into consideration how Realistic Battles (which is a big majority of the game) plays out, we are extremely fortunate to have the flexibility we currently have. We have incredible BR brackets, where every BR/plane gets it’s days in the rotation(some exception near top tier)
In RB it’s basically a cointoss if you’re going to have a terrible time or not, with some BR’s facing up tiers far more than downtiers.
We also get to choose the map we want to fly including size. We can easily get our friends into the enemy team and we can join and leave the battle whenever we want.
Let’s be a bit appreciative of this, and in an attempt to retain this flexibility we already have - let’s try to vouch for improvements on the enduring confrontation game-mode with some much needed changes of how the game plays out Linking below the type of improvements I’m talking about
When it comes to balance, can’t we just accept that Gaijin has clearly adapted the “Battle-Rating” system, and it’s not going anywhere. We’re not getting jets split up into NATO/USSR (Which in itself is a terrible idea with jets).
And for what it’s worth, I can’t think of a better way to utilise this “Battle-Rating” system, than by using the BR brackets. Im very happy that it’s not a coin-toss like in RB.
I guess my point is - can’t we just chill out about these radical ideas which are fundamentally massively changing the entire EC game-mode, and instead try to improve the gameplay itself with adjustments/additions of how the battle plays out (referring to my link above)
I think something that would help is to re-name these “sim improvements” threads to “Sim - Enduring Confrontation improvements”, to make it clear we’re on the topic of the actual game-mode we’re all playing right now.
Just “Sim” seems too broad, as people like Camel just derail them into radical ideas including changing the entire way the game is built from the battle ratings to the 10 nation system which isn’t going anywhere.
And no offence to you @Lieutenant_Camel , but this wild goose chase of essentially changing the entire system of the game is built to suit your play style won’t get us anywhere. You even keep admitting every now and then that your ideas would need complete restructuring of the way the game is built
I’ll create a thread like that eventually.
Issues:
Inaccurate “control modes,” for some aircraft, and a “don’t sink” system for some aircraft, more well known as auto-leveling for when a pilot goes into G-loc.
Reason:
Not-implemented.
Solution:
Implement a code to an auto-ground-evasion system for aircraft that use it, there is a list, and I will add/edit the full list later.
“Issue”:
AJ37 and other aircraft TILS system, and “Improvised runways,” as well as multiple Arial refueling craft that can be destroyed for points.
Cause:
not implemented
Solution:
Add it!
I figure since air sim could be more “historical” with the “NATO” forces against the “War Saw Pact,” also coming with the implementation of Air Tankers, Soviet and Chinese specifics and NATO specific tankers, with different capabilities (I.e. Boom/Drogue and Probe) with a constant marker on the map to tell you what type it is, and where they are, I feel like with more modern aircraft, recognition should be seamless, with AWACS to give Friendly and Enemy positions at top tier, although this removes some of the current aspects, but is also a QOL change.
I was thinking the same a day or so ago. Shouldn’t be too difficult to implement, as it’s essentially how Sim GB currently works (a pre-defined selection of vehicles). A selection of such EC ‘Events’ could be made available either permanently, on a regular rotating basis or periodically, perhaps at appropriate times of the year.
@CorporalApollo The Polish mod community has proven that it is possible to completely rebuild SIM as an event. separately of course.
It’s interesting that these people manage to build more in a week in their spare time than Gaijin did in 3 years of EC. so everything is somehow possible if there is enough motivation.
As for EC internal improvements, it’s always little things. a bit of fiddling with the rotation here, a bit of fiddling with the Br’s there.
Even adding a new nation set would only be a small thing.
don’t worry, nothing will be destroyed :) the Techtree and Silverlions system prevent the EC from being converted from a camel into a second IL-2 :) Moeep, I have 0 influence on Gaijin. and I have already written such bad things about the snail.
yes, we can be happy that Sim is better than RB. but we can’t be happy that EC is worse today than it was two years ago.
Do you have link to mission? Im interested to try it out on any map against bots just to see what is different.
I now re-create my rooms until I get the “clear” weather so that point is rather moot.
Also there’s already EC games which have AI enabled and all vs all so it’s already in the game. If players are making games you don’t like, don’t join that room, I fail to see the issue here.
I don’t care if people “exploit” the option to better their grind; I’m not interested in joining games that are 6 vs 2, it’s actually the problem I’m trying to resolve. We already have massively unbalanced games with so many American TT players (especially in the NA server group).
There’s a simple solution to this, add more Gaijin created rooms with these left out nations. That would also be a solution to the problem of finding games if they don’t want to empower us to enable Named AI players (Bots)
Except that’s not a solution.
Who are these left out nations going to play against? Bots? Themselves?
The issue still remains, people will continue to avoid playing against these nations, (and sorry, giving them a Gaijin created room doesn’t change that, people will just avoid the Gaijin created room :P). We simply cannot allow players to exclude parts of the player base, it can and will be abused.
There is serious time and sometimes financial investment that goes into completing an air tree, and in a lot of cases - one nation is all someone’s got. There’s already an issue of certain nations being left out of BR’s and metas, let’s not create another issue of them not being allowed to participate with other players.
You do realise that more rooms won’t solve anything unless there’s players in them?
Sim player base is already small, let’s not separate the player base even more by adding thousands of possible nation-sets.
And this quote… Speaks for itself.
It’s clear you don’t have the best of EC in mind.
You do also realize Gaijin is not going to allow exploits like that? They’ll just nerf sim rewards once again.
I have never heard of the polish sim community, what did they ‘rebuild’?
We have to somewhat stay within the
Constraints of the BR and 10 nation system, and suggest EC improvements with those in mind. The Ground/Air RB/AC playerbase outnumber the sim playerbase likely 100 to 1, It’s completely unfeasible to expect Gaijin to rebuild the entire system the game is founded on becayse the SIM community wants it…
IMO it’s way more about 2 main things.
-
Decrease the learning curve, we don’t have to go to arcadey lengths but there is massive improvements needed for the default controls setups and guides. You should not need to spend hours to fine tune a controls setup for sim, barely any new player will stick around for that.
They will also get punished with massive respawn costs (and TK costs for not learning IFF) as they’re learning which will easily drain a new players SL balance. -
Improve the game-mode itself, more varying ground/attack targets, more player-interacting objectives, give surveillance planes a function, larger maps for high BR, datalink… list goes on
I don’t care if people farm - it doesn’t effect me in any way shape or form. People getting jealous and crying to Mommy Gaijin is what got us here in the first place (from what I can tell).
I’m actually impressed by how shortsighted you are. Is there no sense of ramification for these changes you’re asking for? At least Camel can get it through his head and counter argue instead of writing childish things like this next quote:
Matter of fact, people farming/exploiting is what got us here in the first place with the many nerfs we’ve recieved to sim SL/RP earnings and respawn cost… Did you experience the sim economy before the huge boycott/review bombing last spring? (Not to say it’s good now)
The farming hasn’t stopped and the farming will never stop in a game where there are events and tech trees which require huge amounts of grind to accomplish/unlock desired vehicles.
The more restrictions put in place the more people will work to overcome those restrictions. This is the way.
All I’m asking for is a way to get into battles quicker as currently starting a game from scratch is a PITA which often requires no less than 2 20 minute waits for a room to start because there’s simply not enough people playing on the given opposing teams (which is why I’d like to stack more nations on the other side).
AI Bots do help when they’re availabel - the games that are created that have AI Bots work great and usually the bots are replaced with actual players with in the first half hour of the match (so yes, AI Bots would solve the issue you mentioned before).
Except that you can’t overcome the restrictions of the useful actions system that we have. It literally limits the amount of SL/RP you’re able to acquire for each 30 minutes. No “farming technique” can overcome it, and its honestly quite easy to max out. The only exception is the mission score which is useful to some events, but even then you can literally earn more mission score just PVP’ing than using the current ‘zombing’ techniques during events, it’s only people with skill issue that have to resort to it. Ironically farming the zomb-farmers is more efficient than actually ‘zombing’ lmao
And you can thank the farmers/exploiters for the useful actions system.
