I was inspired to write this article by the planned Battle Rating changes: if we can give the Yak-141 the R-73, we should give it to the MiG-29 too.
The MiG-29 (9.13) does not have the capability to operate the R-27ER, and in 13.0 the German MiG-29 was equipped with the R-73, and in 12.3 there was a MiG-21 that could use a very similar payload. Therefore, for both game balance and equipment accuracy, the R-27ER should be removed from the MiG-29 and the R-73 should be given.

Don’t even remove r27er just give it r73s.
With these new balance changes there’s no point of removing r27ers.

why not leave it with only r60m and put it at 12.3 or even 12.0

personal seethe is involved behind the gimping of this plane. One of the worst FMs in the game and starved of its actual arsenal

actually just remove missiles from the mig altogether

I think removing the ERs, keeping it to the regular R27 and giving it r73, for a BR of 12.3 would be okay. It’d still be a lot better than say the Mirage F1C at 12.0, so I would not put it lower, but it would also not be at the same stupid BR as the F15

People tell this for years, idk why Gaijin is so stubborn on 29s.
Hungarian Fulcrum and the R-73
I just wanted to make a brief post highlighting a small fix that would make the Hungarian air line appealing to more players and more align with historical accuracy. The Hungarian MiG-29 9-12 was equipped with R-73s which I presume they bought along with the deal from the Russian Federation their 1993 transaction. There are a multitude of pictures, videos, and articles that support Hungarian MiG-29s using R-73s. I have YET to see any that allude to the R-60 being …
Should the MiG-29A (9-13, 9-12A/B) get the R-73 already?
poll
As far as I’m aware, the MiG-29A’s in the game (USSR 9-13, GER 9-12A, ITA 9-12B) should be able to use the R-73, with them being introduced with it back when it first came out. It was hsince been removed, and given that they (Fulcrums) are all 12.7 and even have to often face AIM-120’s, I don’t see any reason to deny the R-73 any longer.

It is crazy to think that this plane got its’ flight model butchered, its’ competition unversally dropped a 0.3 BR on it, modern planes with Fox-3s have been piled on top of it and it still has to fight planes with 90+ flares wtih R-60M’s on top of it all.
Let me remind you of the initial reasoning not to give it the R-73’s:
First — technical one: to provide the correct operation of the missile in all game modes it is necessary to improve code (implementation of the angle of attack sensor in …
I’m speaking from simulator battle experience, but I’m sure this can apply to RB
Give the mig29(a) the r73 now that the f16 has the aim9m at 12.0 its only fair that Russia gets some good missiles too as the recently new Russian missiles alike the r77 are sh*t and the r73 is good but not good enough as in most cases its easily flares away. I’m sure before gaijin had a “balancing issue” with the r73 but now that they turned a blind eye on the 9M I’m sure they can do it again for the R73
According to the official press release of Aerostar/DASA from May 2000, the Sniper upgrade allowed to create ´a MiG-29 aircraft with an increased combat capability, which is capable of responding to NATO compatibility and interoperability requirements, as well as to demonstrate an improved man-machine interface´.
In other words, the modernization included an implementation of Western avionics suite, new communication systems, navigation and identification systems compatible with the NATO standa…

My bet is there’s a personal grudge against the plane from one of the leading devs.
