It is crazy to think that this plane got its’ flight model butchered, its’ competition unversally dropped a 0.3 BR on it, modern planes with Fox-3s have been piled on top of it and it still has to fight planes with 90+ flares wtih R-60M’s on top of it all.
Let me remind you of the initial reasoning not to give it the R-73’s:
First — technical one: to provide the correct operation of the missile in all game modes it is necessary to improve code (implementation of the angle of attack sensor in the missile) without which the missile will behave unstably in some situations, such as launching at low speeds with a large target sighting angle or at high launch overloads. We expected to solve this issue by missile configuration but now we realized that we need additional coding.
Second — balance. The combination of the R-73 and the HMS (helmet mounted sight) gives the aircraft unique capabilities in close combat which in our opinion can make the aircraft too effective - with all the ensuing consequences (repair cost, increased BR). At the same time the other armament - R-27R missile and especially R-27T + R-60M - are already quite a formidable force in combination with excellent aircraft characteristics.
We will analyze performance statistics and possibly add the R-73 in the future if necessary or if more aircraft with similar combinations of flight characteristics and weapons appear in the game. In the meantime we will fine-tune the missile’s functionality to be completely correct.
First reasoning was dealt with right after release back in late 2022.
Second? Is there some hidden statistics that MiG-29 players dominate games with >60% win rates?
How long this injustice is going to continue? MiG-29 without R-73 is like Tomcat without Phoenixes.
Take away the ahistorical R-27ER in exchange and introduce a foldered 1987+ version with 27ER and better air-to-ground capabilities at 13.0 inbetween 9-13 and SMT.
The R-60M paired with the HMD is almost useless… the best use i have for the HMD in Sim battles is using it to radar lock a target so i can aim my guns better.
or maybe shoot a quick 27T on a head on…, Its not like the MiG -29 is completely broken on this BR anyways… the 27ER isn’t as good as people say it is… the Radars on F-14, and F-16 just absolutely dominates the MiG on tis BR on SIM. to detect an aircraft and lock it with the Radar with a MiG-29 you need to either use the HMD which in BVR is kind of impossible… or keep the aircraft level and looking towards the enemy… which is impossible when your trying to notch a missile. once you get to be freed from the ungodly ammounts of Missile spam in Simulator you’d expect the MiG to compete in a dogfight…
if an enemy team mate havent killed you while you while your dogfighting someone… the Mig just underperforms in low speeds… the only time where you will dominate an F-16 is at ~600km/H with the crazy AoA…and that only lasts a few seconds… and every single time the R-60 underperforms because its not built for these type of dogfights… i find the R-27 to be more suited than the R-60… since the R-60 is going to be flared.
“MiG -29 has more win rates” have you seen Simulator battles? the Su-27 in those places are the only ones who has a chance because they can actually perform close after they dodge the Fox-3 Missiles. the MiG-29 eats alot of fuel… you need to bring the ALOT… which makes your flight performance worse… and your Radar cant find anyone because your RWR already screams the moment you take off… once you get close to anything but an F-14 your cooked…
saying the F14s radar is good is crazy bruh like honestly i would use Mig 29 9.12 or 9.13 radar over it worst radar known to man F15/F/A-18A have way better radar
mig 29 is bad and should get R73s but F14A/B is not the oppressor like most mediocre plane ever
