According to the official press release of Aerostar/DASA from May 2000, the Sniper upgrade allowed to create ´a MiG-29 aircraft with an increased combat capability, which is capable of responding to NATO compatibility and interoperability requirements, as well as to demonstrate an improved man-machine interface´.
In other words, the modernization included an implementation of Western avionics suite, new communication systems, navigation and identification systems compatible with the NATO standards, a new head-up display and possibility to use both Russian and Western armament systems. However, most important were equipping the aircraft with MIL-STD-1553B data bus, together with related mission computer, as well as possibility to use an Elbit-made advanced radar system.
This aircraft can use r73s so why we can not get in the game?

I tried to get it to have R-73s (as well as other western weaponry due to it having the computer installed optionally), but it ended up not happening due to balancing reasons or something, cant remember. If that is the case, then it would not even make sense as the Sniper right now is just better than the base 29 with its RWR.
I’d like to repost my images and stuff containing more info about the Sniper, but that one topic appears to have been deleted or something, but TLDR Romania’s Fulcrums had R-73s with them, and it should still be capable with them. The cockpit ingame also has the R-73 cooling button for it modelled last time I checked.
Oh, btw, do you know that they are going to give the Golden Eagle extra x4 missiles? American mains complain their toy is mediocore, they get new toys NEXT PATCH.

Trying to get the MiG-29N fixed has shown me the pain that all other MiG-29s have went through this whole time. Especially now that they added the R-77 (that is very likely incompatible since it might have never upgraded from N019E radar)
I believe the balance issue Gaijin saying can be an outdated information as statistics never shows you current exact situation. Imo after the addition of multiple 12.7-13.3 premiums both 12.7 and 13.0 jets are sucked into mostly same battles.
As mentioned earlier, every MiG-29 from early to late variants is able to carry and operate R-73 air-to-air missile, but weapons are part of balancing reasons, either absent to justify lower battle rating to fill a role or gap or present to justify a higher battle rating in-game and in a game mode, hopefully Gaijin put this aside at some point soon and model every vehicle with its weaponry accurately.
no need to be balance let them all be at 13.0 with 6 r73 or 4 r27 and r27s f18c early can get 6 aim 7 p and 2 aim9L but we only can stuck with r60m !!! this is not balance…
