But see that’s the point. It’s called a ground game mode, yet it has CAS elements mixed in. That isn’t ground, it’s combined arms. You can’t be serious right? If you asked someone what type of vehicles they would you expect in a GROUND game mode, would they say ground vehicles AND aviation? No. Gaijins titles are misleading. All that to say, it doesn’t change the fact that despite being the only game mode to spawn ground vehicles (which I think would make it primarily a ground game mode), CAS comes out on top most of the time. Let me ask you, what is the point of CAS in ground game modes?
This is WT’s biggest failing - CAS has so much healthy potential in the combined arms framework, but right now it’s little more than a killstreak revenge powerup ripped out of CoD.
CAS should be needed in a game that sells itself on its combined arms nature. But for that to happen, we need proper objectives for CAS to perform OTHER than dunking on player tanks. And in many of those cases, player tanks could also do those objectives too.
It may in function be “mixed” battles but it is still called Ground battles in the actual game, players expect and want what is said on the tin, not a half and half mixture

I think they should just make a sperate game mode called “Combined Arms”. Keep ground, ground only, and air, air only. In combined arms, increase the player count for each team, allow Ground and Air to fight for objectives with each other (hell throw naval in there too), and we can all be happy.
The esiest would be do what air rb is already doing add ai air Defence behind spawn
I do wonder what would be a better name for the game mode that would still fit the same card image in the current menu UI.
None of us will get anywhere if we focus solely on the “one tank, one plane, open. FIELD!” comparisons. Only a variety of objectives added into the current maps, and expansion of current maps to better fit others, has any hope of truly fixing this shit.
People love to complain about the CAS bombing/missiling their tanks, but comparatively few stop to think “wait…he literally has nothing else he can even do BUT bomb me or some other player on my team.”
So then provide others that aren’t into all that combined arms a way to play their preferred class of military vehicles.
Refer to this.
And they still are, it’s just that now air takes a little bit more effort at top tier than before.
Which is a good thing.
id just like to say its even worse in simulator battles. Sim pilots are a whole new level of cracked that are more decisive of the batlle than the CAS spam hell some BR ranges in realistic are.
Large swathes of this game have been tainted by continued appeasement of extreme sects within the playerbase, and the “ground-only” fanatics are one of the biggest of those. No - those people must be forced to accept using aircraft and SPAAG or accept their chosen preferences render them less competitive.
Plus, if even seemingly popular mode ideas like RB Air EC keep getting consistently shot down by the devs, how long will people keep beating the even more dead horse of tank-only mode? It’s not just dead, it’s not just rotten, the bones themselves have crumbled into a pile of dust and you guys are whipping dried mud!
I’m not entirely against CAS, I just wish for something separate so if CAS starts to annoy me, I can play something else without CAS, instead of just dropping everything and getting in SPAA.
with how many prem users pop up near or at toptier, at least these Free AAs give them a reason to not be 1 death leavers and contribute to keeping the hell that is CAS and helis away
Of course it does, it explains why people portray CAS as OP.
And what is wrong with it? That is just true.
So in order to spawn SPAA, You have either play it from the beginning or die first, that is again an issue for people who are in a tank.
Sorry but the only one lacking any substance is the one who doesn’t understand what he himself wrote:
You have pointed out that ground vehicles are much more popular meaning that people playing ground battles are mostly interested in playing ground.
That is why they have issue with air being able to kill them while they are in a tank and that they mostly can’t do anything about it.
Sorry, but you and your ilk have irreparably harmed large swathes of aircraft functionality even in their own game mode, helping make that a stale mess.
The moment folk like you started causing such “appeasement nerfs,” you lost all right to demand such a game mode. Was it the intended purpose of you guys? No, but it was the reaction you got from the devs. I blame you guys first and then the devs for what resulted, because your complaining provoked them.
You call yourself a tank main and yet you constantly cry CAS is too expensive and SPAA are overpowered. Curious.
The pairing of plane vs tank or tank vs SPAA is literally the same in terms of fighting back in top tier. A tank cannot do anything against a plane just as a SAM SPAAA cannot do anything against a tank. (Sure a SACLOS SPAA can track or maybe even kill a light vehicles but the top of the line missile SPAA cannot engage tanks at all)
You’re still clinging on to an argument based purely off of semantics. Just because it’s called “ground” mode doesn’t mean it contains ONLY ground vehicles. Arguing that aviation should be excluded from ground battles from this logic is even more ridiculous.
Aviation plays a supporting, but still essential, role in ground game modes. It serves as a force equalizer: strong and weak tanks alike can all be destroyed by CAS attacks. The presence of CAS allows for dynamic gameplay, since campers are the easiest targets for aircraft. As said by @ULQ_LOVER , a King Tiger is much harder to take out from the front with a M4A3E2 than a 2000lb bomb.
CAS encourages teamwork; targets which are scouted or marked can be destroyed by a friendly air attack. Light tanks would be much less powerful without air support to back up their calls. And as you said, the existence of SPAA is determined by CAS. Without CAS, we lose the entire dynamic between air and ground, which is an essential element of ground battles interesting to many. CAS is realistic, historical, and important.
Yeah but this is different? This isn’t some idea driven by nationalism or patriotism, this is just looking for a way to please a player base that wants fights to be based purely on the skill of another tanker, not the tankers ability to get enough points to drop bombs on people who can’t fight back. It’s a completely different set of circumstances.
Go cry to gaijin then. Don’t blame us for wanting the mode we like to be playable.
And yet current CAS is badly lacking nearly all of its other ways to influence match outcome besides just direct anti-tank duty. That is why it needs reform and not removal.
