thats basic understanding of the game
yes it is
its the fastest prop on the deck

it’s not a “Game”, it’s dog fighting manoeuvre basics and some people still doesnt know, thats whats separating good and bad players apart
i have the plane but its not spaded so i cant prove if its fast on the deck or not, but even if it is, it still doesnt make it OP. Yea its anoying but thats about it. Ju 288 and Wyvern are anoying cuz they are fast and just run away when they want but that’s it, they are not winning a 1v1 in a turn fight
when u go in higher BR u will see more and more of these type of aircraft that can just outrun u, just learn to deal with them
So like every plane below 6.3? Yak-3U is just uncontested in its combination of speed, climb, turn and energy retention.
There is no such thing as a “superprop” - the common understanding of a superprop is a very late war allied fighter which was pimped with 115/130/150 octane fuel as the era for piston engines was over. And the Bearcat came long after the 262 and the Meteors.
The F8F-1 was designed to be a interceptor for combat altitudes usual in the Pacific - and had to be smaller and lighter to improve the lousy climb and top speed of Hellcats AND to be able to operate from escort carriers (which the Hellcat could not).
Seriously? You assess the quality of an aircraft as low because you flew a stock Yak-U in a full downtier vs a F8F-1?
This is nonsense - the 3.3 Hellcat is one of the best turnfighters at its BR and the P-36 G at 2.7 is a turnfight monster. Both have zero problems to win a turnfight vs any Yaks in their BR range.
At least as long as the Hellcat has altitude. It turns well, but not long until it’s dry 😂

Thanks for correcting the term, but I reckon you also got what I meant by ‘context’.
Right…? ;)
When F8F-1B is usually considered as a superprop, it is a shame that Pangolin ashamed both F8F-1 and F8F-1B as non-superprop
Pss…
SB2C And AD-2 folder are pretty good “turnfighters” too
most spitfire i face is still better than yak3u, it’s not uncontested
Yea and did you read the original topic we are on?
He legit said F8F-1 is comparable to yak3u (not even close) and should be up there with the F8F-1B at 6.3 cuz they got the same airframe and engine (i think) even tho I just prove that the F8F-1 got absolutely stomp by yak3u. Maybe the F8F-1B needs to come down in BR instead.
if he hates F8F so much for its slightly faster speed in a straight line, I cant wait for him to go up in BR and meet the f104 lol. Im expecting a 12 font size - Times New Roman font - 2 page essay from this guy on how its under-tiered
Yea like I said, 99%. And Japanese zero still dominates those BR range anyway.
There’s just one Spitfire below 6.7 that can do anything against a yak-3u, and that is the LF Mk IX.
you said that you did beat it
nothing more
it can outrun everything and most other fast props are already in the US TT
i dont know how you still dont get that you dont need to TURNfight something that TURNS better (btw i think the P36 wins the turnfight against a zero)
even tho i agree that the zero at 3.3 is kinda good
the yak can pull energy out of its ass not even a LF MK IX can do that as good as the yak
Not sure if we have discussed this somewhere else, but the key to have fun with the Hellcat is just partially altitude - it is a combination of:
Have a good one!
With altitude to work - yes. But both can be easily taken out by vertical loops - SB2C is than a free kill and the Sandies need just patience.
Have a good one!
From my pov your interpretation of the OP’s opinion is not really on target.
Your comparison regarding flight performance (Yak-3U vs F8F) does not cover the fact that the Yak-3U is even at 5.7 severely undertiered - the OP states clearly that he sees the F8F-1 at 5.7 if experienced pilots use them. That is also the reason why every experienced player is focusing on Yak-3s/3Us as primary target as you can’t win without killing them.
As long as just a handful experienced players use them the 4.7 BR seems adequate - at least if you know how to counter them.
The addressed criticism focuses on the poor US player base (which are imho on par with USSR players) which uses the Bearcat for base bombing. As he can back up his claims with excellent stats there is no reason to reject his opinion - especially if you see this rather sad waste of the F8F-1 (almost) daily.
The solution for this issue is quite simple - all gaijin has to do is to deny bomb payloads within the first 10-12 minutes as this would enforce a usage as fighter and stop this base bombing nonsense. With a focus on fighting enemy players due to a lack of heavy bomb loads the Bearcat players have to improve.
Have a good one!
as a person who played the f8f a lot, that thing fucking SLAPS and deserves to go up in br lol. I feel bad for the other planes that have to deal with the undertiered US planes
i mean that is a yak 3. they are pretty insane. face it in c205 or 109 G6 so its fairer
also the average US pilot is not doing an aircraft any favours, look at when a US tree plane appears in minor nations to see how massive the skill gap is.
This is the canon version at 6.3, france players do a lot better in it vs american ones (Tbf this one probably should go to 6.0 if 6.7 is going to be staying full of OP jet trainers)

I played the F8F quite a lot recently, mainly to see how well it does at 4.7.
Unfortunately I can’t say that, despite the good performance, it does amazingly well, compared to other planes in it’s BR range.
I mean I hopped into a La-7 for 1-2 battles the other day and got this result:

And I haven’t played the La-7 recently and only have a total of 33 battles with it.
While I have three times as much in the F8F.
Not only that. I shot down 6 players and 5 AI IL-2s and still had more than half of my ammo left.
That’s just 14 rounds fired per kill.
I think I only ever got 5 kills in a match with the F8F once, spending all my ammo.
I havent really played the F8F-1 at 4.7, i mostly played the 6.3 one which is still very competitive even against jets, but both have insanely good airframes in my experience. The 4.7 one is a little lacking in armament, i must admit but its air performance is extremely good
It is literally one of the most abysmal dogshit planes to exist. It may technically have a decently tight turn circle, however it has 0 ability to go verticle.
XF5F is a late prop, guess it’s also a super prop now.
Damn, the french one has even worse stats than I thought.
if the french mains arent getting near to a 1k/d in a plane its probs overtiered.
I do think that one should go to 6.0
the standard F8F1 ought to be 5.0 instead of 4.7 though.
