Imagine if the Yak-3U (who’s already undeserving of being 5.7) can carry bombs. Now imagine again that it’s BR is lowered to 4.7 because of the general player base. That’s what the F8F is right now.
This plane at its BR and current grind, is in a state where
a. It’s incredibly easy to play for a player who knows barebones energy-fighting.
b. Somehow always played by bombing “players”
It’s always incredibly disheartening to see a plane that can go pound for pound with 5.7’s be used in a bombing role EARLY on the game, and somehow none of these US players even know what to do even when it has barely any altitude.
I keep typing in chat “Do this” and “Do that” to F8F players so atleast they can survive until late game, but of course. they’re not going to listen. I’m tired of seeing atleast 95% of F8F players I’ve encountered playing prop US are— forgive me. Absolute fucking dumbasses. They can’t bait for the life of 'em, run, nor even DOGFIGHT against people they out-rate in the sustained.
I’m sorry for the rant post, but I’m being completely serious when I say that the F8F should be addressed to stop new players from just doing ??? with it. It’s too easy to get, and incentivizes the wrong kind of playstyle already present in this game, and that is bombing instead of helping.
You’re probably just unlucky. Most of the F8F players I’ve seen in my match actually help you dogfight and save you from enemies. They climb so high in to the top of the sky and just doing boom and zoom leaving me only 2 kills.
Don’t bother singling out specific planes, the issue lies in the entire playerbase playing the game. To stop this issue, we need to separate the playerbase into two: casual players and players that bothered to learn anything. This should be coupled with a tutorial system that teaches you how to play (beyond take off and landing topics), which would be mandatory to pass in order to get to play with the second group. Yes, there will be smurfs, yes, there will be longer queue times, but think of the gameplay quality increase! We could even incentivize playing in the second group by increasing battle rewards and creating a separate leaderboard, so that both newbies that are interested in learning and tryhards would prefer to play in the second group.
Trying to teach players whose goal is not to learn is futile.
Other way around. People are trying to justify Russian and British vehicles being undertiered cause (x) American vehicle is that BR (despite the fact that the American plane is straight up worse).
Realistically, the F8F isn’t even particularly strong at its BR. The P-47, Yak-3, Typhoon, and Spitfire all easily outclass it. Even some planes a full 2.0 lower (e.g Yak-7B) perform better.
I didn’t justify other nations’ undertiered aeroplanes. Why did you invent the argument?
Maybe because in Gaijin’s world, USAAF initiated Luftwaffe/IJNAS-style pilot management.
No Aces to train ensigns, then getting constantly slaughtered.
And of course, no Thatch weave was invented.
I really don’t think so. The only problems I had with F8F-1 armed with 50cal was
-4x 50cal which is still fine, but thinking 6 night be better
-ground grinding teammates, which never climb up and initiate turnfights mindlessly against Yak and Spitfires in low altitude.
Yak-7B??? the 2.7BR one? The one with no WEP at all? :kekw:
Compared with F8F-1 on 4.7?
Even if I go with two extra DGP-1 gunpods and get an extra 4 50cals, I think my F8F-1 would fly better than Yak-7B.
I reckon that Yak and Spitfire are meta plane on the current fast-phased low-alt dogfight meta, but still, stop being ridiculous.
You can’t sell The Indulgence to Grumman.
It’s faster under ideal conditions, but that’s about it.
Low alt dogfight meta isn’t the only issue. The main issue is that climb reliant planes are faced off against dogfight planes that climb faster than em.
Although mainly known for its impressive dogfight capabilities, keep in mind that the Spitfire is an interceptor. It was built to climb like a rocket.
Typical Tu quoque, but fine. Partially fair. Partially
What I meant is, back in the day when I flew F8F or Spitfire LF, I climbed with my F8F, nearly half of my teammates still on the ground
and forced to get outgunned and ravaged by some fancy Soviet-Japanese-built late-war props.
Hmm… I think I heard this same tune back in the day when I argued against you about the F-104.
Faster speed shouldn’t be treated like ‘that is about it’
You haven’t changed since that day, haven’t ya? :|
Oof, seems even a broken clock is right twice a day. That is also a part of the problem. I agree with this part.
Still, it doesn’t give the indulgence to both of F8F-1 and you about defending an undertiered prop with ‘even more undertiered one’
Well… Weren’t Bearcat a top-notch, high-end interceptor which came out in nearly end of the war?
I think the problem is
-Average US Main’s skill issue, which makes their plane’s statstics sucks (I am trying not to be nitty, but well, USA has fancy aeroplanes all around he histories, and being famous because of that, right? sadly itself is a science…)
-And Gaijin’s exclusive subsidies, which are only granted to the big three nations.
When speed is literally the only thing you have, it’s not very useful. Especially when your firepower sucks (something that’s true for both F-104 and F8F).
I’m just listing the enemies it’s fights, and they all just so happen to be better. That’s not what an undertiered plane looks like.
It has neither the turning nor firepower to compete, and barely the climb.
Muy guy, stop being a forum warrior for a second, spade the F8F-1 and then come back to the post, its nuts in 4.7 with the performance it has at such a low BR
I never knew that both John Browning and General Electric are pillocks, and your Congress got scammed by them for nearly a century.
Oh, in the alternative world which USN failed to invent the Thatch weave… that might make sense.
IN WT,
-50Cal M2 might not be the best, but quite a decent machine gun, thanks to 12.7x99 ammunition, which includes M20 API-T laser beam.
-and M61A1 is literally one of the best autocannons in this game.
Cherrypicking the opponents, huh.
Lavochikins, Seafire, C.202EC, or F6F-5N, Focke-Wulf, and Saab 21.
There are quite a lot of aeroplanes that act infinitely worse than the F8F-1.
So that is what an undertiered plane looks like.
I wonder why you keep ‘truly-overtiered planes’ off the table when discussing balance.
You haven’t changed from the day when you argued F-5C is a rubbish plane which can beat nothing because it is way worse than J-7D, while you completely excluded inferior jets in the nearby BR radius. Such as SHAR FRS.1
“F-5C sucks because it is worse than J-7D”
“F8F-1 sucks because it is worse than Yaks”
only barely the climb…
Well, four M2 of F8F-1 isn’t that impressive firepower compared to counterparts that are armed with autocannons.
But, with that claim, you can claim that P-51H-5 and F-86A-5 are extremely overtiered planes because of nothing but 50cals.
Nuclear level trolling, and if you’re serious, I genuinely want to fight your Yak-7B with my F8F-1, because if you can show me how the Yak can do anything at all, then I’ll be able to significantly improve my playstyle and game sense.
Yak-7B has a lower top speed across all alts, climbs and dives worse across all alts and speed ranges, and doesn’t sustain turns as well. The only thing the Yak-7B does better is instantaneous turn between 450 to 650 KMH IAS.
What would your plan be to defeat an F8F?
