You can’t flare a missile head on below 1km of distance. Read again, mr Bluntly Spoken, if my aim9E’s strike targets head on so do pythons.
Smaller ? do want test it ?
Yes you can lmao. You can flare at 200m.
Which is stupid because JH7’s best missile is by far the PL-5EII due to the IRCCM seeker
To be fair to him, it’s highly dependent on the jet and also the flare pattern
All that matters is if the flare enters the missiles fov in front aspect, even irccm missiles dont really have any resistance in front aspect
Exactly, which is why some jets have better patterns for some situations. But the engine temperature (F-14’s and harriers being notoriously bad at flaring for example) and its ability to cool down fast, or lack thereof when throttling down (example: A5C), are also very important aspects
This doesnt matter even a teensy tiny bit in front aspect as the only thing that a missile can see when front aspect is your fuselage friction heat which is not a lot. That’s why front aspect is so easy to flare even against irccm The harrier’s problem is that its engines arent rear mounted like literally almost every other jet in existence and are instead way up front in the center mass, and that gaijin has still in 2026 not made the harrier have ONE engine but instead still has FOUR according to IR missiles
I thought you were saying it was possible to flare at 200m in rear aspect, which is still true for some scenarios
i’ve had missiles get flared 20 meters away in rear aspect and not when they were out of energy either, just barely missing proxy as it flies past my cockpit
Although at those ranges we’re talking about R-60M right? Because all the others would not even react that fast, and gatewidth IRCCM would be virtually impossible without pre flaring.
No.
Ah thats a different thing, the proxy fuse arming time
No
i just came from a match where one of my pythons literally missed a mig23 getting very slow below me, even despite gimbaling in a way that the missile wouldn’t overshoot. The Pythons are garbage, period.
Another one missed a mig23ml in a position and trajectory that the R60M would have struck
Pythons pull far less than they’re supposed to, and they tend to overshoot without proxying into the targets.
Overglorified r60m’s, literally.
i never had a head on python get flared, they miss cause they are awful, period.
I will say again , you want test ? if python 3 is “awful”
yes
There goes your “insane gimbal limit”
Literally the third smallest of any all aspect missile. It’s FOV is also larger than that of the aim9l.
I will say again , you want test ? if python 3 is “awful”
I don’t want to test, i’ve gotten more kills with aim9l than python 3. I’ve faced thousands of python 3 carriers and i’ve died to two or five in my whole time.
And ? i will say again you want test it ?
what kind of test are you going to make?
