One more question, if it had actual weight on a potential punishment or lack there of for another player would you care more, less, or the same?
I find this data useful and I am using it to fine tune a future poll.

Rarely, but sometimes it’s because I hit return to the hanger pretty much the second I was hit, most of the time though it’s because they where doing something that had a high chance of TKing me, like trying to shoot past me to kill the guy I’m chasing or they decide to head on him when I’m right behind him.
In a case such as if I have someone on my tail and an ally tries to kill him and hits me I will accept the apology as they where trying to help.
Most people seem to be ok with an apology when it is clearly an accident. A few people responded that they never accepted apologies. We even had one person who didn’t know about the apology mechanic.
Still wont care. Okay, lets pretend teamkiller gets punished if I dont accept apology, cool. I move into other match and never face that person again. Maybe I will be wee bit happy if its persistent teamkiller doing it on purpose. But in greater scheme of things I just boot up another battle and forget about them completely.
Thanks for your response. I do find it helpful.
I always decide whether the TK deserves an apology accept, and I do accept when it makes sense. I also don’t apologize when I TK to protect teammates.
it really depends, such as a AIM-9L deciding last second to go after a friendly, or i had a match where a teamate J’d out after a hostile aircraft staifed him (centurion mk 3) while i was chasing after him and trying to shoot him down, and i got the kill credit for the friendly tank, even though all i could’ve done is damage his tracks a bit as i had aircraft belts on my BF-109G-6 as well as the 13mm and the 20mm,
TL;DR it depends if it was on purpose, non-intentional and stupid but shouldn’t have happened, or just unintentional
Thank you for your response! What if it’s a grey area? In those cases to you tend to accept the apology (give them the benefit of the doubt) or decline it?
its the cases like say your radar decides to swap lock to a friendly no matter how many times you try to re-lock the hostile, at that point its on the game if the missile still follows the teammate instead of going dumb so you are still free to offer it but its it kinda an oh well if the teammate doesn’t accept because in their eyes you are just a kill hungry dipshit that doesn’t care, and might not stick around for the explanation in the chat
Yeah. I have noticed some lock issues.
Accepting apologies does not cancel the TK penalty, so it doesn’t really matter tbh.
no but it at least acknowledges that it was indeed an accident however once again its another thing which players abuse, had a match where i was trying to ground pound in the F4U-7 in ARB, we got mozdock, which was perfect for it, only to have a P-51H intentionally gun me down then like all players do, the hit the sorry button
Gajin stated when they announced the feature that it would cancel tk penalties, but they either decided to omit it and didn’t tell anyone, forgot about it, or it’s currently bugged and they didn’t notice cause they never playtest. All three are in-character for Gajin.
Ngl, it’s been a very long time since I’ve been intentionally teamkilled. It used to be more common a couple years ago when I first started playing, but players seem to have gotten more chill since then.
yeah, i started playing back when you could team kill in GRB, that was a interesting time so to speek
depends on if it was a freak accident or they hit me intentionally or while trying to killsteal
If the TK was unintentional I would accept an apology however if it was intentional I wouldn’t
Thank you for your input!
Which way do you lean if it’s a grey area?
Are you more or less likely to accept if it’s unclear?
Thanks for your response! What do you do if it’s unclear if it was intentional or not?
This poll should have answer possibility “mostly accept” though
