Please for the love of god separate the cold war vehicles from the ww2 vehicles

You seem unaware of the fact that WW2 tanks served well into the cold war…?

South Korea still has M18s and M36s in their inventory….

They are doing what they want because this is the game they wanted to make. Just because you think good models=historically accurate game, doesnt mean that is a universal rule.

Pretty sure t34s are still in active service in north africa/middle east.

Most of those nations long ditched such weaponry, but T-34-85s still see service in Yemen, where they are mainly used as artillery.

Respectfully mate, I disagree. At least from a German player perspective, the power creep is much, much worse. I tend to rotate-play all BRs between 1.0 and 7.7, and 6.7 has it the worst by far when it comes to full uptiers. Granted this is much better than it used to be before the summer BR changes, but the compression is still there.

I know that a lot of people take this as the springboard to argue for historical matchmaker, which you know I completely disagree with, but that doesn’t mean that all is fine at the “era breaking” battle ratings.

Yes and no. If my vehicle can pen yours, and yours can pen mine, “not getting shot” becomes indeed decisive, but so do other factors, like: mobility, optics, gun handling, reload times, access to friendly CAS… or broken damage models, which some go-karts have.

I’d argue that Germans have it some of the best when it comes to this, considering their excellent firepower while still having decent mobility, even for their heavier vehicles.
Their armor can even still work at times against anything that isn’t HEAT-FS, you won’t see an M48s APHE shell penetrate your Tiger II’s front while the APHE should still be your main ammo.

Sure they don’t have the light tanks America has, but in a full uptier I’d much rather take a Tiger II or Panther II than an M26E5.

Why should a 7.7 tank use a 6.0 shell as his main round ?

The penetration is generally enough and the punch is immense.
I’d argue it is generally a superior round to the HEAT-FS, as it can eliminate the big majority of threats frontally with little issue while dealing way more damage.

M48 is a lower BR than 7.7 though, it was just an example.

Its not just me us it ? An old topic

Yall should get togather and make a “historical” war thunder. The engine is open source and you could see about buying the models off of the company that makes them for gaijin.
There is a reason they havent brought back historical mm events. A vast majority didnt like it.

No it’s not, you’ll struggle to penetrate loads of tanks that are a whole BR below you, which just goes to show how bad that round is at 7.7, and using it as a main round is just yikes.

This is just false.

Can’t find any M48 version that’s below 7.7.

I’ll boil that down to a difference in experience then. I always very much enjoyed using the APHE over any other round.

I don’t intend to go in a “yes no yes no” argument, but I don’t find frontpenning most enemies troublesome with it.

Ah, I seem to have fallen behind on the BR changes.
I was a bit stuck in the 7.0 and 7.3 era of these tanks.

Just because you like something more doesn’t mean it’s better.

You’ll have to pixel hunt loads of tanks frontally while in return they’ll be able to lolpen you, but I guess that’s not troublesome for you.

You signed up for a war games simulator.
If you wanted historical reenactments, there are custom battles for that.

Lol, simulator

And then we have this topic opened again and again over the years.Yes kids dont care and couldn’t tell the difference between a tiger and a T90 ,we get it

Ah yes, the “no games can be simulators” take.

I dont deny that some random person makes this topic once in a blue moon.
I also do not understand your thing with “those that dont want historical mm are dumb kids that dont know what tanks are”

Again, if you want to play a historical sim, play them. You are reminding me of the dude that wanted to add the sim mechanics(no third person, gunner sight aiming, no markers) to ground rb but he didnt want to play sim

Not what I said, only how you interpreted it.
