Would also be nice to get some better quick messages. They are way too heavily focused towards GRB. Almost be nice to get gamemode specific sets of messages.
Like “requesting locations”, “Bingo (out of fuel)” or “Winchester” (out of munitions) for air
or “Torpedo!” for naval

Did they disable the “Air Alert” one? I used that for low tier IFF
I didn’t know that even worked properly in ASB, or do you mean in GSB? I don’t have a lot of experience in that gamemode
Properly? I can’t say, it occasionally called out the guy I spotted and gave me an asmith to follow, I would and I would run into the guy (Keep in mind, I’m in VR so my visibility is trash)
EDIT: I figured it out - somehow the key map for just that button was missing (even when I loaded my config from my backup).
Remapped and I can once-again use it for IFF (when it works)
I’ve waited 5 times tonight with no games played (in 4 different brackets)
I believe it works in Sim if you have a radar. It will call for a locked radar target, which can be used as a pseudo IFF after a lock.

Interesting. That could be a handy trick to try for aircraft without IFF on their radar. Thank you, shall have to do some testing
I’ll try to capture it working a few times (without radar) - it is better than nothing, I can’t say if it works “Properly”
lol

Either way, we could really do with some better quick messages. Because seriously. Why do we still have attack the D point :D

Yeah I’m not able to find a game… again. I"m about to run out of time.
It’s nice to see that now that the event is over that the top tier population has dropped off to around 20-40 active players at any one time.

It’s relief for sure to get rid of event spuds that only jump into EC to rocket trick grind. We just need more player retention for the mode as a whole - lots of things to un-fk for the mode to return to a semblance of what it was years ago which was much easier for new players to jump into on either side. Economy that actually facilitated learning, AA that was realistic and not god tier cracked, AI that actually worked, way less zombers crowding out lobbies and more balanced matchups.
Top tier just exacerbates these existing issues, and with the US side coming better off on almost every front at these br’s - it makes it almost impossible for new players to stick it out on the opposing side and very difficult even for experienced players to actually win the match. As even if you can win local air superiority against the objectively better and numerically superior enemy fighters, your team simply dies to point attrition anyway as the NATO sides advantage in bombing/cas efficiency is just that much higher - it’s a terrible dynamic. But i think if we just had the core issues fixed, like economy reversion back to standard reward structure instead of current useful action system, in hand with more bot eradication, and some simple but very much needed top tier balancing such as actually toning down f16’s current strong 1 circle performance back to reality - it would do a great deal in bringing back healthy lobbies. It’s not hard to fix, as per usual we just need a dev or two to actually care, participate in the conversation and start changing things back for the better.
A very concise summary of top tier at the moment.
Missiles do not render in some lobbies now.
It’s patch day and there are a grand total of 72 players on CIS/EU/US servers combined.
Split lobbies will never be fixed.

As long as F-16 is a UFO and the gripen is busted, I will not be returning to sim. I have friends who are of the same opinion. Many people quit after F-16C and 9M, and even more quit after Gripen.
Meanwhile the Su-27 and mig-29 are dogshit and food for the blue side.
9M is busted as well.
Gaijin needs to make Russian jets not bricks or make the FMs of blue side proper and not UFO.
Yeah bro, its understandable - flying the red side rn your always at a huge disadvantage. Both 29’s and 27’s are hamstrung with crazy energy loss, induced drag and poor low speed lift - certainly their Oswald efficiency numbers are highly questionable. Poor mig’s are further limited to anywhere between 40-67% of their max AoA potential - gaijins response; we wont change it further as you where ‘prohibited to exceed the 26 AoA IRL’ and ‘what use is a cobra anyway’. Well ok - it was entirely possible to exceed the 26 limitation irl simply by pulling hard on the stick, we are doing it in game already with manual control, and the evidence says when doing so it could reach between a minimum of 60 up to max 100 degree’s AoA (depending on the source) - so what’s the real reason? Meanwhile F16’s are pulling like mad cutting inside your circle way past the historical 9g limit - where if pilots were able to disable the FCS and do that irl they would just completely lose control, and the grippen’s are just on infinite energy floating around in the sky.
IMO, these FM ‘quirks’ are a completely deliberate balance decision mostly caused from the huge backlash they initially received by the wider wt community when they were first looking to introduce the archers, and also the vastly superior relative performance of the ER’s - you cant have your cake and eat it too apparently. Trouble is it’s a difficult thing to fight against, as they can alter the 27 & 29 fm’s in area’s (as far as im aware) we don’t have much hard evidence/data to go on, ie induced drag and lift efficiency. Best we can hope for is when gaijin feel confident that players have ‘acclimatised’ to thrust vectoring and high G’load missiles, and the nato side starts to have more comparable BVR weapon sets with coming fox3’s - they start making some positive changes bringing FM’s closer to reality.

I wish I could start enough games to get good enough to care about the FMs
We need to be able to start games with bots (AI user placeholders) turned on.
This is a terrible idea.
People are just going to start new lobbies against bots as soon as real players join.
It’s already bad enough where one team just quits the game due to disadvantage.

thats why I want bots, so if everyone quits I don’t get F’d out of my bonus I have for my one game of the night I get to play…
The solution is to make the game more competitive and stop letting players shop for lobbies where they can farm less skilled players.
Taking all 50 people in the top tier matchmaker and spreading them out to a ton of lobbies just creates a de-facto PvE mode for farming resources.

That would be better than the current status where you just can’t start a fresh game when you want.
People who play in the huge games (which always also seem to be all vs all, by the way) will continue to do that. More lobbies would be better than one locked lobby you have to fight with others to join.
